i knew there's something missing. Is that what you call the paste? Belacan? does it need sambal? i just came home from KL and my first encounter with nasi lemak was love at first sight err.. taste. now I miss it badly. i wish i had taken home some of that belacan. i wasn't sure what that paste was I failed to ask the locals.
i always eat nasi lemak.... this is simple nasik lemak but if wanna best nasi lemak.. put banana leaf to wrap nasi lemak...u can sa" wah! sedapnye!!!!"
ayoyoooo...ikan bilis tak cuci dengan air dulu ke....rendamlah 1-2 minit ke...ayoyo....that bilis fish may from dirty place or whatever, and the rice also...i think the rice he washed already.

@TheDarlingharbour i'm totally agree with u. As a chef he should be know how to keep clean when cooking something.
btw..i think he should cut those dried chili first b4 boiled it. My mom always scold my dad if she found out he didn't cut the dried chili first b4 boil in the pot...lol
Wouldn't it be better if it was served with fried chicken or mackeral instead of more achovies on the side. Also some fried nuts would be sufficient. Anyway ur nasi lemak looks good.
a dash of lime juice and some extract water from tamarind paste would enhance the sambal as well. Some lemon grass initially with the blended items earlier. What about the pandan leaves and the baby ginger in the cooked rice. Good effort Mr. Felix.
i haven't got the time to learn that yet, the only island food i know how to cook is the luau pig and some other samoan dishes and of course the musubi
Thanks Felix for the recipe. I am living in Lexington, KY, USA and am missing home food a lot. I forgot how to make it, and now you showed me!!! I really liked the video too. It was well done!!!
