Entertainer Reni Santoni played murderer James Rego -- spelled R-e-g-o- -- that fatally wounded Chin Ho Kelley (the late Entertainer Kam Fong) in "A Death In The Family" from the 1977-1978 Season Finale on "Hawaii Five-O." Brilliant 5!! "Hawaii Versus Rego" would have been a two-hour movie presentation to start the 1978-1979 Television Season. The Distrcit Attorney would have sought the death sentence for convicted killer James Rego.

Thanx for the spelling correction, as I never saw this epi on TV.

As for the death penalty, I don't think he would've been successful, as I understand Hawaii had no capital punishment then, nor do they now.

BTW, Mr. Santoni would go on to play the police chief in the short-lived "Manimal" a few years after this.
