I had this for more than a year, it has a fast response but it breaks fast :/
And for ppl asking if they can use it for other games like MK and other fighting games yes you can, almost all arcade stick out there works with everthing, unless if you use ps3 stick for xbox, that i cant confirm
this arcade stick is really CHEAPLY made, dont get fooled by the madcatz brand, the buttons feel loose and after 2 weeks of normal playing my triangle button dosent works normaly (stops working for some seconds) and the x button gets stuck near the lower end, pisses me off bad specially in the middle of a online match
@Rodrigo00 yeah 3 months later i throw you guys an update: i destroyed my my arcade stick in a rage flash, when i saw the pieces inside i found out how cheaply made it is lol
WOAH THERE are you saying madcatz butttons better than hori buttons?! The ones by madcatz are so flimsy they break real fast sometimes, the hori buttons do degrade over time as well but not as badly.
My baby brother as the joystick MadCatz Street Fighter IV contoller he preordered earlier this year and its cool. I want to purchase A Madcatz fightstick version I am better using the smaller one's than the joytick ones. I'll stick with the joystick Arcade machines I am a Master at those. I've been good at video games since, childhood and I have won numerous matches on the PS3 Online Network. My kid brother is the new guru of my generation I'm an old veteran guru master.
hey what's up i just got the standard edition stick and i can't keep my hands off of it so if anyone's interested they can add me on psn:Reapers0095 to play with me or just games in general.
i had the standard edition but it was rubbish, my supers never always worked and sometimes when doing a bison charge move it wouldnt always work...i sold this one, lost a little money and got the tournament edition....my moves now work 99.5 percent of the time. the buttons on this one are awful and you may need to hit them dead in the centre, whereas in the TE you tap it and it works instantly, no comparison. dont waste ur time with this unless you have little light hands and flimsy forearms
0:52 "Buttons feel really nice" What The Hell. Ever played with real arcade buttons? These buttons are even worse than the hori standard in my opinion, they break really fast too even while you swap them. The stick does feel OK but I hear it breaks after some months depending on how much you use it.
I have the PS3 version changed to full seimitsu, they're awesomely easy to mod.
not very durable at all. Don't buy the standard edition; buy the tournament edition. My standard stick just stopped working yesterday after having it for 6 months.
I'm pretty sure the 18th of October if you pre-order it at gamestop, but on Amazon they say it ships on the 13th of October. Read more about it at eventhubs, I'm not really sure.
spacedog its is augst already i live in california im not sure if they came in yet bout i want one. so do you known wen theyll come in also wat is, Sanwa parts.and onother q wat is that turbo thing all about
Hi Spacedog, can u tell me if it's still working fine now that it has been 6 months since you posted this clip up. I'm thinking about buying one but I just wanna know does the controls become non-responsive after using it for a while.... coz i remember my old joystick for the PS2 always Fk up after a few months... either breaks or the controls becomes all weird and u can't do anything with it... please let me know so i can make a decision. Appreciated your clip and anticipating your reply~ thnks
They both work as of now. There were issue's with the 360 version (s). First one had a terribly scratchy joystick, G-stop was cool and ordered me another while they were still rare. Second one had messed up buttons and Mad Catz repaired it, but it works great now. PS3 one has the loose part in the joystick but it works enough to play. So other than the loose joystick part on the PS3 one, they both still work fine and should be even better when i finally upgrade to Sanwa parts. Thanks.
Just unlock the the controls then press turbo and then select the button you want to add turbo to by pressing it. The corresponding red light should blink when the turbo is active. I don't ever use it so take that with a grain of salt.
never found out how to play with the big joysticks :D but seems old and cool to play with :D i lik that.. same to the helicopter joystick or what ever its called :D.. that look so awesome i wanna try it someday :D
hate the square based thing.. specially cuz im also a fan of king of fighters and to do like iori's special is QCF then FCB punch and is a bitch to do the half circles then full. but to play sf is easy.
Tough question. Out of the box compared to the Hori Fightstick 3 & EX2.....the Hori has a more precise stick. But the Mad Catz unit's buttons feel faster. In the long term, it's easy to change parts in the Mad Catz so I would probably recommend this one. There are other Hori models which I have not tried yet that can swap parts easily as well but I can't speak on those.
I think overal madkatz is better. I used to prefer hori but when I started modding my preference went to madkatz. All the madkatz sticks use universal connectors as far as I know. While hori has a lot of models that have the circuitboard soldered directly on the buttons. You have to do the wiring yourself in those cases, it's not very hard but takes a lot of time. Also the hori HRAP models are a bit heavy and bulky making it uncomfortable on my lap, I hear the EX are too light.
if ur not cheating ur not trying do what ever it take to win. that what some people said it going to happen people will cheat online it happen to me but i do not care it just a game. anyway it good fighting stick i not have any problem with it yet.
im thinking about getting this stick, or the tournament edition. Does it improve gameplay that much? or is it just all sales hype? I want to make sure if Im gonna put 100 bucks into it it actually does something
Hellow i'm from mexico and i'm thinking in buy the Xbox360 Fighting Stick EX 2 in amazon... can you tell me if this fighting stick works with Ulmate mortal kombat 3 arcade of 360 or if exist some other fighting stick that works with that game?? I hope you can help me... sorry about my bad english =D
Any stick will mostly work for any fighter including Mortal Kombat....The thing to know is that xbox live arcade Ultimate Mortal Kombat is that I heard you cannot change the buttons configure like other games like Street Fighter Hyper or Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD. So do your research before you buy the stick if you play Mortal Kombay only and can deal with the way the buttons are set up in the Hori EX compared to xbox pad and you can work with and adjust to the button layout.
I have one. The only issue I've had with it is that the mid kick button ocassionally stops registering (annoying as shit) However, it doesn't happen to often, and from what I've heard you can easily replace faulty parts if they become a serious issue. I think most of the negativity is just fanboy hatred of Madcatz.
i heard and am reading lots of complaints about this item, Things like the stick stops functioning or broken out the box plz reply if u know about this?
are you kidding? is that why half of the time they're jabs or short kicks always seem to be faster than mine or they always end up beating me to the punch? motherfuckers!
Square gate? and I was just about to buy one until I heard you say that.. forget it. I hate square gates, the dont work for me. I prefer octogan/circular gates. Guess i'll save my money.
Well i hope a month later you have realized that not buying it because of a square gate is a pretty lame excuse. Square gates are actually nice. for a few dollars, you can buy an octo if you really want it but by all means don't pass up on a stick. If you want a stick, you aren't going to get one stock with an octo gate.
Ive played on square gates in a chinese arcade and I hate them to death. I prefer the octogo/circualar/american gates....
Thats what I always played on in arcades and they register movements better for me. Besides, it's not like you can get a TE stick now without paying over $250 for it on ebay. that's the only place to get it and now. I dont play the game enough to make it worth it. so oh well. the 360 controller is just fine unlike HD remix...
You don't need a TE stick. Pick up an SE. I bought 2 of them in the past 2 weeks. TE is just not worth more then then retail value. If you don't care about sanwa parts just get a replacement stick with gate. itll run you $30 or less. Madcat buttons are better then regular hori ones so then for $100 approx, you can be set up really nice. But yea if you aren't playing it much don't worry about it.
I meant the stock of joyticks in stores are being replenished regularly. So basically you don't have to spend more to buy on eBay or from other resellers. You just have to be patient.
Your best bet is to ask if a sales clerk from your local game retailer will let you know when a new shipment comes in. Sometimes if they know your good for it they'll hold it for you (don't flake out, or they won't hook you up anymore though). Try a few and see if one will help you out.
oh hell yeah man fireball and dragonpunch motions are as easy as can be. The only one thing thats hard to do with the fight pad is the stuid motion for vega and guile's super/ultra but then again wtf is that shit. it just looks stupid
I got a fightpad too for the 360 and the irony (to me ) is the control works best with my DOA4 and Soul calibur. I have trouble shooting hadokens, kikokens (Chun LI), sonic booms and other projectiles with the fightpad as opposed the regular 360 control.
same dude i just got mine and i cant hadoken for shit but its okay i use dan alot so his only goes like 2 feet but hey is ther a certain way to get the turbo button to work my turbo button wont light up
that is strange. Pressing the turbo button, followed which of the six button you press lights it up immediately. Chances are your control may be defective. I'd suggest you change it for another one and try it again.
i never liked the fightpad cause it is more confusing, but how can i get a joystick anyway? good vid though 5/5 btw your description is ridiculously true! i dont pay extra now!!! lol
Don't believe the hype of resellers and price gouging retailers. If you really want one you WILL be able to get one eventually. When you pay more they charge more, show your support by not paying extra.
everyones complaning oh just go out and buy the te stick wtf!!! you cant find em anywhere its not that easy if you have a se version just use it and stick it out until they make more
Because we all have opinions. Some of us like to play with arcade buttons rather than controllers. Some like the controller better. Consider thinking before posting.
Actually the only thing i hate about these sticks are the button layouts. They aren't the traditional layout making it very uncomfortable compared to HRAP's and Namco's.
The cheaper standard one does not have the components the TE has the TE edidion has full Sanwa stick and buttons the best arcade components maker their is. Think the basic model still has a Sanwa joystick though. if you want the same reliability and durability as the Arcade machines then get the TE version or a Hori PRO stick
ok, for everyone who thinks im some "hater", i am not. for one, i just find it stupid for a person to buy 2 of the same thing, for 2 different consoles. call me cheap, but its my opinion, and im fine with it. i wish i did buy one of these sticks because the 360 controller is too stiff to let loose some combos, but hey, its my opinion. let him have fun it, and the assholes who say im hatin, fuck you. really. its just a game, my opinion. thank you.
Also, when MadCatz/Capcom restocks, they'll also be getting the TE FightSticks back in, which come standard with a Sanwa JLF and Sanwa OSB-30 (30mm) buttons, which are top of the line (what SFIV cabinets have on them). The Hori stock buttons aren't bad at all though, so your best bargain bet is to just get a HRAPEX unless you're a diehard SF collector, in which case of course you're going to want a TE. The EX2 isn't horrible either, but the stick is kind of clunky, but works fine for beginners
No, this stick isn't better than the HRAPEX; the HRAPEX has a Sanwa JLF in it where the MadCatz SE FightStick has a stock MadCatz stick, some of which don't work properly (my PS3 one has trouble with up+back simultaneously...I usually get a neutral (straight up) jump rather than jumping back). I've heard that some people have gotten lucky and their stick is really good, but you can't go wrong with a Sanwa JLF. One plus is that if you want a JLF, the SE FS is easy to mod.
I would like to belive that he has a lot of time and money. I bought two fight sticks too, and I do not have a lot of time or money. I just enjoy it, I don't see what's wrong with it.
Actually, those fightstick which are the SE edition are only 79 bucks. Its the Tournament edition that is 150 bucks. Regardless if he's rich or not, stop being jealous. GET A JOB and buy your own.
6 but the game allows you to use the 7th and 8th buttons to activate all three punches or kicks for supers, or ultras. Whatever it is. It's a matter of preference. If you are any good it doesn't matter either way. People who complain are banking on their opponents to ruin a super window by not hitting the buttons correctly.
I would like to add that my SE stick took a dump before I beat the boss the second time. I haven't unlocked a single character before the up direction crapped out. The stick otherwise was giving trouble the entire time by sticking in the down direction. But for what it cost, and the costs and time of building a custom, I'm keeping it and dropping in some Sanwa parts. I thought with the SF license, this mad catz would work. Ive hated them since Sega Genesis. Their products just don't last.
Is this compatible with PC?
Please!

hey what do u mean by the joysticks being changed continuously?like i gotta replace it with a new one?
OTTBlindfish 2 years ago
I meant the stock of joyticks in stores are being replenished regularly. So basically you don't have to spend more to buy on eBay or from other resellers. You just have to be patient.
spacedogg 2 years ago
where would be a good place to buy a stick from? ebay is charging an absurd amount.
BrokenClayman 2 years ago
Your best bet is to ask if a sales clerk from your local game retailer will let you know when a new shipment comes in. Sometimes if they know your good for it they'll hold it for you (don't flake out, or they won't hook you up anymore though). Try a few and see if one will help you out.
spacedogg 2 years ago
that controller reminds me of a sega controller
OTTBlindfish 2 years ago
yeah i tell all my friends its a freakin genesis controller lol i use that one
rockleeownsu 2 years ago
lol can u pull off good stuff with that controller?
OTTBlindfish 2 years ago
oh hell yeah man fireball and dragonpunch motions are as easy as can be. The only one thing thats hard to do with the fight pad is the stuid motion for vega and guile's super/ultra but then again wtf is that shit. it just looks stupid
rockleeownsu 2 years ago
wow u bought both of them for both consoles..
u rich boy im jealous

I got a fightpad too for the 360 and the irony (to me ) is the control works best with my DOA4 and Soul calibur. I have trouble shooting hadokens, kikokens (Chun LI), sonic booms and other projectiles with the fightpad as opposed the regular 360 control.
mansuru 2 years ago
same dude i just got mine and i cant hadoken for shit but its okay i use dan alot so his only goes like 2 feet but hey is ther a certain way to get the turbo button to work my turbo button wont light up
38006 2 years ago
that is strange. Pressing the turbo button, followed which of the six button you press lights it up immediately. Chances are your control may be defective. I'd suggest you change it for another one and try it again.
mansuru 2 years ago
i have the fightpad for xbox360
i bought it for mk vs dc universe
but for some reason i cant shoot fireballs
with lui kang (or anyone els)is it the d-pad failing or the game in combination with the pad...
does anyone know.........................
its driving me crazy......

what is the diff between a square gate and a round one?
BUDDAz1g 2 years ago
well square gate is when you spin the stick around and it forms a square and the other one is when it spins in a circle

Don't believe the hype of resellers and price gouging retailers. If you really want one you WILL be able to get one eventually. When you pay more they charge more, show your support by not paying extra.
VEry well said!

wow what a waste of money! why do ppl buy these stupid things just use the fucking controller
panasony23 2 years ago
Because we all have opinions. Some of us like to play with arcade buttons rather than controllers. Some like the controller better. Consider thinking before posting.

Sakurazukamori2424 2 years ago
Actually the only thing i hate about these sticks are the button layouts. They aren't the traditional layout making it very uncomfortable compared to HRAP's and Namco's.

the stick and the fightpad work with the PC?
astrofallz 2 years ago
All 360 controllers work with the PC.
thrash77581 2 years ago
on ps3 i mean.
astrofallz 2 years ago
The cheaper standard one does not have the components the TE has the TE edidion has full Sanwa stick and buttons the best arcade components maker their is. Think the basic model still has a Sanwa joystick though. if you want the same reliability and durability as the Arcade machines then get the TE version or a Hori PRO stick
NielsShoe 2 years ago
So are they broken yet?
holic120 2 years ago
so whats better the hori fighting stick 3 or the standard edtion street fighter IV stick?
I heard that the standard edtion street fighter IV stick has some problems, can someone verify that for me?
zerdos2 2 years ago
where do u buy it?
Momo5baller 2 years ago
im gettin one only £20
LaurieA11 2 years ago
Do you like this stick or the Hori 3 better? I am thinking about selling my Mad Catz for a Hori until I can get my hands on a Tournament Edition.
quebeee 2 years ago
ok, for everyone who thinks im some "hater", i am not. for one, i just find it stupid for a person to buy 2 of the same thing, for 2 different consoles. call me cheap, but its my opinion, and im fine with it. i wish i did buy one of these sticks because the 360 controller is too stiff to let loose some combos, but hey, its my opinion. let him have fun it, and the assholes who say im hatin, fuck you. really. its just a game, my opinion. thank you.

what should i get the fightpad or the arcade stick im not good with d pads though

jopsakka 2 years ago
Also, when MadCatz/Capcom restocks, they'll also be getting the TE FightSticks back in, which come standard with a Sanwa JLF and Sanwa OSB-30 (30mm) buttons, which are top of the line (what SFIV cabinets have on them). The Hori stock buttons aren't bad at all though, so your best bargain bet is to just get a HRAPEX unless you're a diehard SF collector, in which case of course you're going to want a TE. The EX2 isn't horrible either, but the stick is kind of clunky, but works fine for beginners
maddoxowns 2 years ago
No, this stick isn't better than the HRAPEX; the HRAPEX has a Sanwa JLF in it where the MadCatz SE FightStick has a stock MadCatz stick, some of which don't work properly (my PS3 one has trouble with up+back simultaneously...I usually get a neutral (straight up) jump rather than jumping back). I've heard that some people have gotten lucky and their stick is really good, but you can't go wrong with a Sanwa JLF. One plus is that if you want a JLF, the SE FS is easy to mod.
maddoxowns 2 years ago
is this stick better then the hori arcad pro 3?
IVFADE2BLACKVI 2 years ago
I haven't tried an HRAP yet. I definitely want to get one as soon as it is financially feesable.

GET A JOB and buy your own.

fuckin useless madcatz and capcom SEND to canada u useless fuckers lool
proof4real 2 years ago
6 but the game allows you to use the 7th and 8th buttons to activate all three punches or kicks for supers, or ultras. Whatever it is. It's a matter of preference. If you are any good it doesn't matter either way. People who complain are banking on their opponents to ruin a super window by not hitting the buttons correctly.
Wickedwonka121 2 years ago
I would like to add that my SE stick took a dump before I beat the boss the second time. I haven't unlocked a single character before the up direction crapped out. The stick otherwise was giving trouble the entire time by sticking in the down direction. But for what it cost, and the costs and time of building a custom, I'm keeping it and dropping in some Sanwa parts. I thought with the SF license, this mad catz would work. Ive hated them since Sega Genesis. Their products just don't last.
