marco van basten had absolutely everything to offer in a striker. he was a brilliant passer, header, his positioning was as good as pele, and he could score great goals with either foot, long range as well as short range. the best in the business.

You know, I seldom comment on youtube, but I would love to ask a question. Would anyone else agree that this is one of the greatest goals ever seen scored? The sheer audacity to try this from this range, the power he put on it from an incredible body angle (with a cross that had none too much power...): surely it is worlds beyond goals like even that in Euro '88, which had a touch of hopefulness about it (?)- this was pure intent, against Real Madrid, away from home! What do you think?
