I subscribe to Mr. Bachchan's blog and he described how he had burnt his hand before the movie started and that his hand had surgeries but was not completely healed. During this movie you will notice he keeps that hand in his pocket. That is because it was bandaged. He said he really got into the music scene and unintentionally opened the wounds while playing the tambourine.
