  • love the video really good

  • brilliant video

  • very interesting video thanks

  • Where is the "Base aera Moron"? In Argentina?

  • when the fuck are they gonna go electric?

  • @sickasso72 when hell freezes over

  • @ShalemariTV LOL! isnt that the truth!!!!

  • Airbus made the A320 neo which is an A320 with new more fuel efficient engines. Why did Airbus discontinue the A340 when they could have just put new more fuel efficient engines on the A340-300 and make it the A340 neo?

  • @JundaComputersGmbH I think it'll still cost more to service 4 engines instead of 2.That's why the 777 is more appealing bcoz it only has 2 engines.

  • @fanpim Then why don't they put 2 big engines on the new 747-8 instead of four smaller engines? It has 4 x GEnx 60,000 lb thrust each, 240,000 lbs thrust total. Why don't they put 2 x GE90-115B with 120,000 lb thrust each, same 240,000 lbs of thrust total? Same amount of thrust, but half amount of engines so cheaper to service. Why don't they do that?

  • the ballon is an atmospheric balloon fucking retarded ignorant. fucking idiots that believe they know everything and everything has to be the way they want it. get a big dick and start sucking it...

  • The balloon at 2:35 is apparently very important to the performance of this engine. Would of been nice to have a video about engines instead of a freak'n balloon!!!

  • is any plane in 2011 using this engine??? or is this in use yet???

  • well after the big flop on the a340 and a318 P&W better deliver on this one

  • @JQX1

    P&Ws are availlable for A330, A340 is exclusively CFM56 / Trent 500.

  • @blablubb12345 wasn't p&w 2 be the original engine 4 the a340 but after not meeting the targets n turned out 2 be a bum which hurt the 340 sales cfm came to the rescue?almost sure that's how cfm hairdryers ended on the a340 i know i've read it several time but since i can't find it i will stand down.trent featured on the a340ng was a little 2 late as twins (777) already made an impact on the market making quads null and void.anyway 1 thing 4 sure was the flop on the 318,that i remember clearly

  • @JQX1

The 777 came 2 years after the A340, but with rising oil prices it pretty much killed the A340. The story about the A318 is rather funny, because P&W was to be the sole engine supplier but france insisted on a CFM56 version which, in the end, sold better than the P&W.

  • @blablubb12345 yup 777 came out after a340 n true oil prices did have an impact, but the 777 put the nail in the coffin, that's why i said the a340ng was little 2 late because twins had proven 2 be better than quad.P&W on the a318 missed it's target and was also late, either way the a318 is considered a failure, the same can be said of the a340-500/600.hope the a350 makes up for it,hope it is a beast

  • @JQX1

The A318 shares the same fate with the 737-600, they are both shortened versions of a way larger airframe causing higher weight and drag compared to "real" regional jets like the CRJ or Embraer E-Series. Their only advantage is the same type-rating and maintenance infrastructure for Airlines which already operate large fleets of A320s or 737s.

  • @blablubb12345 true,100% correct.which makes me always wonder why even bother with the a318 in the 1st place since the disadvantage outweigh the advantage.

  • @blablubb12345 the p&w initial engine was the super fan made by iae a partnership between P&W, RR n MTU an improved v2500,which was later shelved,CFM saved the a340 program from complete disaster,so yes P&W flop on the a340.that's how CFM became the sole engine on the 340.P&W as been left out in the cold so GTF better deliver.so far it looks like it will and may even exceed.

  • @JQX1

Yep, International Aero Engines offered their so called "Super fan" but cancelled it because they underestimated the technical challenges of such an engine. That left the A340 with the CFM56C and a larger wing as planned, also affecting the A330 (same wing as the 340).

  • Meh, I'd go for those badass looking GE90's.

  • @n0hhh

    Good luck strapping a GE90 under the wing of a 737 or A320 ;-)

  • @JHAAMYEESS They did a joint venture to make Engine Alliance company, making GP7000 for Airbus A380.

  • holly molly

  • put just one on a bad cat

  • omg....wow

  • So basically it makes 2 shaft engines compete with 3 shaft?

To be fair geared turbofan's have been around since the 70's it's nothing new.

The variable area bypass nozzle looks cool

  • I WORKED A PRATT AND WHITNEY IN MISSISAUGA AS A CONTRACTOR ,AND WHAT A LAZY BUNCH OF ARROGANT PEOPLE THEY ARE ,PRATT WILL GO BROKE WITH FOLKS LIKE THAT WORKING FOR THEM

  • @34775101 That's funny, did you work in the shop or in the office?

  • The public needs to be aware of Pratt & Whitney Aircraft/United Technologies Corporations illegal behavior. In particular, attempting to provoke this caring and devoted father into committing suicide over my child care issues and then conspiring to obstruct justice in federal court against not only me, but in addition 4 other litigants/former UTC employees. Please check out my You Tube videos to find my website and genuine court documents.

  • @silvertiger333 are u even as afraid as Rolls-Royce to try to destroy P&W because it's a threat to the competition between engines?

  • @silvertiger333 OMG you need some SERIOUS psychological care my friend :( - I suggest a SMALL PADDED ROOM and an "I Love Myself and need to hug myself" kind of shirt (also known as a straight jacket) - A member of my family has been working for UTC for YEARS - More specifically Pratt & Whitney and I can say that our family and families of others are REALLY well treated

  • fuck the music …

  • i prefere the noise of the F-4 Phantom

  • Looks like PW is making a comeback.

  • @operazanotaijin Yes it made a comeback.

  • Good video. Pratt & Whitney should've offered something for the 787 or A350. They're losing ground in the commercial market.

  • This is allot better then the GEnx

  • Tesla Bladeless Turbine. Now THAT would be a true quantum leap forward but because it's now un-patentable no one will invest in R&D.

  • Geared turbofan, doesn't sound very revolutionary. What's next?

How about jet engines with fusion plasma torches in the combustion chambers instead of burning fuel? That would be something. It's just a thought.

  • @Zoloft61 how about liquid hydrogen?

  • Geared Turbofan....Hmmm, a bigger turboprop with a shroud and many blades......

  • After Soviet out from US ! Boeing is the same things with Pratt Whitney . . they don't make a single screw ! Their heads will be off too !

  • Every things you may see . .only the Fake ! Pratt Whitney sold all their machinery . Those Machines belong to Soviet .. .Now those bad suckers will pay by their heads !

Dmtau is a good US citizen then I must protect our countru properties. And you too . .if you don't . .will be your head likes thos suckers Pratt Whitney.

  • @dmtau IDI FNAGOOY, shut up russia doesn't own anything. The sovjet age in where people where stolen fom their own inventions is over. Russians still make civil jets with Turbojets, JET, turboJETS? Are they out of their mind? That's ancient, noisy and fuel sucking middelaged technolagy.

I may say this discriminative kind about russia since my parents were russian. Noo teper ti zamalchy, yeboochey neo-nazic.

  • @sonicfan7 Russia or Europe or you can call White people.. .Those people were coming about 2000 yrs from Africa. .At Egypt by Mongols & White Gorilla. The White people don't ever make any things about the Jets or Cars or Boats . . .So whate do they make ? Hookers,Belly dancers,Dirty Chemical Mixing and Cowards . . .That right your parent had the Moscow. .Most cowards people ! You are distort and living in US will be a heavy crime. . Die with behead for surely!

  • @dmtau I dont live in the US, I live in western europe... Planning to migrate either to Japan or Canada.

  • @dmtau And learn to speak english before using it...

  • @sonicfan7 English is the language of no rule ! Did you learn it ?

  • The wery truth . .after Soviet . . out of US from 90s . The Pratt Whitney did not make a things about Jet Engine ?Why ? The Xinhua . .Xinhua belong to Mongols . .Mongols rule US . Xinhua told Dmtau : In side the Pratt Whitney no more machines , no more parts .only the dirty chemicals .. That why . ..many , many "workers" likes Blacks,Chinese . .brains cancer !

  • why cant you shut the music off people prefer to hear the engine

  • @rclvb You are correct, they should put the music down, a po up the volume of the engine. For me the sound of these engines is better than music. Love it!!!

  • I wonder if they will make one as massive as the triple seven's RR's. That could be a dealbreaker

  • @totallyairplanecrazy the GE engines for the 777-300ER is the biggest turbofan in the world

  • all this about silence, and that music ruins the whole thing

  • awesome!! OMG! i would ride that even if its on the plane

hey guys if u like come and check out my channel thanks !

  • the old concords had faster engines still.

fastest i know is the sr71.

  • Good for Pratt & Whitney. At least America is on the cutiing edge still, in a few areas.

  • true this geared technolgy is superior to the fixed shaft design, however, the size and efficiency i think still wont be able to compare to GE's engine. all GE lacks is that gear technology, but now are probably implimenting in to later designs. as you can see, that pratt is same size as older engines, the GE's flew a boeing 747 with one engine alone.

  • Haha "moron." (1:51)

  • Dear All,

I have some question about psychology:

    (1) Why do we love to see jet engine testing?

    (2) Why do we enjoy to build new jet-engine?

    (3) Why do we think that designing new jet-engine is a representation of creativity and innovation?

    (4) Why do many of us want to build our home-make jet engine?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

  • why didnt they invent sth like ths earlier ;(

  • im guessing it has more power and is able to better on fuel

  • better than rolls royce

  • if it it really able to do what it said it could "Cleaner environment"

I am all for this project.

  • Fantastic! It is unbelievable how fast jet technology moves.

  • Next thing you know they'll have "discovered" the efficiency of the turbo-prop...

    Saab 340 hmmm.

  • @n711z Turboprops loose efficiency at high altitudes because there is no adiabatic compression that a ducted nacelle can provide. Also, should a "propeller" blade fail, there is no way to contain the released airfoil. Looks like turboprops will be relegated to remedial duty for awhile longer...

  • i love it

  • 2012 end of the world....

  • For you hopefully.

  • @pulflex hahaha i was just going to say something about that XD

  • Super! Thanks:)

  • I like aircraft engines to be loud, not soft, that's the whole thrill of flight, roaring down the runway, not another weak and feeble hybrid bullshit. Soft is for pussys

  • I gave the idea

  • a three minute and eighteen second commercial. Would have enjoyed to learn something about the engine instead.

  • @mysboys That's all I was able to get from P&W for now. Working on more.

  • @mysboys

Just look in the PW website. This engine has been proven and performed as promise. Not like the LEAPX that is still on paper and promising similar performance with a conventional engine just by changing the combustor... This engine will be offered also on the A320 Neo to be launched on 2016.

  • This beautiful video makes me believe in God's creation and the future of mankind.

  • Hot Shit*....

  • so whats the difference/advantages

  • Cool !

But what plane does this engine is going to be fitted on ?

  • thanks airboyd!

  • its good about the less fuel and things but the noise is what plane spotters like!!!

  • The Engies Seem Very light.......hope they use them for A320 :)

  • wow..........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the 747 and a340 were test bed's they used 4 engine aircraft's to test new developing engines during flight, in case the new engine fails the aircraft can still safely fly on 3 engines

  • Did the 747 there have only one GTF engine on it?

  • @julianshield1 Yes.

  • i was about time to see p&w re-enter in the jet engine competition!!!

  • So, this allows smaller engines on larger aircraft??

  • @nmanyo It could, as it allows fewer engine stages and parts for lower weight, but it's not just the physical size.

  • So this engine basically has.. gears? I know it's much more advanced than this, but it's basically designed to have drive, 1st gear, 2cd gear, etc. to improve fuel efficiency?

  • @scaremenga Yes. In the PurePower PW1000G engine, a state of the art gear system separates the engine fan from the low pressure compressor and turbine, allowing each of the modules to operate at their optimum speeds. This enables the fan to rotate slower and while the low pressure compressor and turbine operate at a high speed, increasing engine efficiency and delivering significantly lower fuel consumption, emissions, noise, lower weight and reduced maintenance costs.

  • @airboyd I ez-expect more changes before 2013, I would love to play around with the blade housing and blades...

  • it's about time :)
