  • Looks awesome, I'm going over a bmx bike right now in a pearl white with black flames and wanted to know what clear coat you use to get the shine? Besides the wetsanding and polishing/buffing.

  • I am in the process of painting a helmet with tribals outlined with bevelled edges and a carbon fiber effect filling the tribals. One of the licks of the tribals crosses over the other and with just that design it has taken a LONG time. And this is just a helmet, I cant imagine even trying to do a design like the one in the video!! I guess its all about learning tricks on the way!

  • @806TO713 By the time I finished his Hummer, trailer, boat and quad with all of the same design I was ready to pull my hair our for creating this design.LOL

  • This is just amazingly genius.... im in awe. and by the way... I cant thank you enough for posting all the videos you have. You have pretty much solely turned me on to airbrushing. I have very little artistic ability but when following all the techniques you go over.. ive been able to create some pretty cool projects.

  • @HoboCabbage Glad you enjoyed them.

  • thats got to be hard, i seen some crazy stuff but nothin this badass.

  • what kind of tape is that you are using to make out the flames in the beginning? the blue stuff?

  • @WhiteGuyRappin 3M 1/8 inch blue fine line

  • thats amazing the boat and atv ruin it though

  • It must take a VERY steady hand to be able to pinstripe like that!

  • @emj0001 Yes it does. That is why he does it and not me.LOL

  • what kind of paper did they hold up in order to achieve the carbon fiber look on the first set of tribal flames? was it shelf liner?

  • @judoroe Yes it was.

  • hey Ed, I am based out of southwest washington... amazing work and you have taught me a lot from your videos. i give you thanks and much appreciation. look for my artistic eye and airbrushing skills to start showing themselves very very soon as my goal is to be the BEST CUSTOM PAINTER/AIRBRUSHER IN S.W.WASHINGTON !!!

  • @djHANDY Well get after it man.If you are interested I teach 3 and 5 day classes.

  • @edhubbs what is really funny is over the last 5 years, i have passed your shop on my way to my girlfriends parents house down there in eugene. (they live up off timberline). i always told myself i would need to drop on in and check things out.

what's your prices for the classes ?

  • @djHANDY I live inPleasant Hill now. Write my e-mail and I can give you some info on the class.

  • I'm an artist, and getting more into airbrushing. I can respect your attention to detail such as the light source on the diamond plate, but I don't like the look overall. But good job none the less.

  • @xixdaltonxix That is why we all do different work, because we all have different taste. Thank you for taking the time to write and for your honesty.

  • @xixdaltonxix Duh dude, the way I would want the paint job on my truck would be very specific and unique. I'm sure you wouldn't like the overall look either. He's not painting a portrait here. Custom Auto Airbrushing is unique and different and won't be appealing to everyone, I would expect any level of an artist to know that.

  • @806TO713 I understand. I was just stating my opinion.

  • Ed, after painting with airbrush, the paint is already or must pass before the sandpaper?

I'm from Brazil, Luiz. Thank you.

  • @euluizito45 You must prep the surface before painting by sanding.

  • ed hubbs is the best! i am from california and i cant wait till i take my truck to him so he can paint a set of flames on my truck! i dont mind driving all the way to Oregon for a good ass paint job, the only thing im scared of is rock chips hitting the paint on my way back home lol

  • @MrLIFEISTOOSHORT That is why they make car haulers.LOL

Hope to meet you some day.

  • whoo impressive!!!!!!! thanks for showin

  • @houseofnightfan55 No problem.

  • @silviasickness $10,000.00

  • have you ever done a paint job to a grand am? or el camino?

  • @x13neon Yes

  • i love how u make the diamond plate metal look like its coming off in the paint

  • @x13neon It's a lot of work, but well worth it in the end.

  • amazing !!! you sir a are a true professional

  • no, hummer HT was like an H2 pick up truck, but with lower backside and 1 cab. i dont find it anywhere worldwide. i wish it remains in my city, its not too big city, i just need to search in rich areas : )

  • I just wanna say that is absolutely stunning. Extremely extremely talented people. How the hell did you get so good!!!?? lol i was just wondering what paint you used in the airbrush because i bet car paint is to thick to put in right??? useless very heavily watered down with thinners??? how much would a job like this cost?? just been interesting to know :) again amazing job and amazingly skilled people.

  • @Ashthemusicman Thank you.

  • we can create, all it needs is thought. bravo ed!

  • I honestly didn't know where you were going with this when you started so I was blown away by the skill you've demonstrated in applying your very fertile imagination. Thumbs way up sir! Very cool. Keep up the good work.

  • @romac53 Thanks man.

  • i cant believe i saw a hummer ht in mexico, is the most "weird" truck ever, i try to find it in the web but is too hard to find it. in Mexico!!! i wish i took a photo onto it.

  • Comment removed

  • I honestly can't believe how insanely good you are. It's almost magical. It's magical.

  • @neltod LOL Thanks.

  • I was wondering how many miles of masking tape have you used on this project LOL

  • nice who ever owns that hummer is freeking lucky

  • I just showed my girl the close up of the diamond plate. She says, "So that's paint?" Kickassjob

  • @MyWesticles

HA HA That's cool. Thanks man.

  • @edhubbs just out of interest, how did you start out to get into this?

  • @mcfat89 I painted tons of model cars and thought hey this can't be that hard.YA RIGHT!

Then on my 16th birthday my Mom and Dad bought me my first air brush and I went crazy painting any thing that paint would stick on,and even some that it wouldn't.Like the day I thought that i would surprise my Dad and paint graphics on his new jeep while he was at work. Man was he impressed,UNTIL he drove it and all of the paint started blowing off.

  • @edhubbs thanks for answering man, that was a good insight im hopefully going to be sprayin for VW and hopefully get into customs such as yourself, but i may have to move to america (im from UK) because there isnt really a high demand for it over here. hopefully i can reach your level of airbrushing !

    keep it up man

  • @mcfat89 It only takes practice man.

Good luck with your future in air brushing.

    Take care my friend.

  • where can i get that diamond plate masking?

  • really cool

  • dude that was really good how long did it took you to finish it?

and how long do you have to wait to put the tape so the paint wont peal of?

  • @RUVALTIR

Two weeks from start to finish. And when air brushing about 30 to 60 seconds before taping and on the silver out of a spray gun one hour wait time before taping.

  • hey man, only to be curious... lets say I have a hummer and want thar painting job... how much would I spent?

  • Absolutely incredible work Ed, I wouldn't be surprised if you had places like west coast customs and stuff begging for your talent :P

What made you decide to go into car painting/Airbrushing? I'm turning 23 in December, I've always loved painting/airbrushing cars(haven't really had much practice) but I love that and music, Not really sure what I should pursue... I mostly lean towards music cause It's always been my main passion.

Good job as always, Love the vids!

    Take care!

  • Go with what your heart tells you, mine is air brushing.

  • Holy sheit..that is absolutely INSAAANEEE....altho I prefer when you narrate your vids...was that just screen early on?

  • Screen? Do you mean what I used for the carbon fiber effect? If so it is a mesh that I buy from Wal Mart

  • dope man real dope

  • Thanks

  • Ed you are the best!!!I've lurned so much from your videos!!!

Can u maybe tell me the name of this song?

  • Sorry man I don't even know it. The guy that put the video together picks the music for the back ground.

  • You can find the title of the music on the info panel in the top right corner, if you click on the link "more info". The song is "I get it" from Chevellw.

@Ed. Great work, I really admire your work. I learn a lot form you're video's.

    Best Regards,

    Marc

  • sorry dude but that looks shit.the checker in the white is what fucked it.

  • Not ever body likes it. That is why we all have a opinion. Thanks for taking the time to watch it though.

  • thats awesome i love the way that looks i got thinking is there any way to airbrush on bedliner? im just about to bring my truck in for getting it completly bedlined, your very talented so i thought u might know

  • I really do not think that the paint would stick.

  • You going with a fiberglass bedliner? Or a spray on bedliner? If you have the spray on you would need to plastisol it, and dry it under a infrared light. I think Plastisol is too thick to airbrush with.

  • yah it well be roll on bedliner but still the same as most spray ons, i was just curious because theres a chevy truck here with spray on and purple pearl over it, its bein fine for 3 years now but not sure how itd stick

  • hi Ed just want 2 ask i use paint spray in can in body cover of my motorcycle and paint spray clear...also in can...

but after 5 months it getting fade the color..

what should i do to make my work not to fade?

i use spary in can coz i dont have any equipmnt to use...

i hope u can help me...

btw ur such a good artiest...

    thnx!!

  • If it is not a catalyzed clear coat it will fade.

  • its so 3D, at 1 point i thought 1 spike was sticking out of the side of the truck..dam your good

  • LOL Thanks.

  • Ed Hubbs, you are a genious. Plain and simple. It's just Genious. Your work will forever astound me.

  • Thank you.

  • hey Ed, i wanna give my welding mask a diamond plate effect, wat colors did u use

  • Fine silver met.Streak blue and white through it. Then put the diamond pattern down and spray one side a light black and the other white.

  • I usually don't like hummer's, but JESUS IS THAT SWEET!!!

  • it is bad ass, daimond plate looks like a bitch..for real.but to get d skills &experience(no pain no gain)u killed it ed

  • Thanks man.

  • Oh that's bad ass, love the different textures. Diamond plate must have been a bitch. "Attention to detail" is definitely right. :P

  • Bitch is a mild word for the time and the back ache that I received from countless hours of air brushing the diamond plate. BUT then I had to go back and torture myself even more and bevel all of the edges.HA HA

  • haha I bet the pin stripper wanted to hang you up by your toe nails and flog ya over this job :P

I'll tell ya what it's beautiful, I'm always impressed with your work. You've actually get me thinking I can paint my truck so i;m accumulating tools now. I wanna do a riveted panel look, like an old WWII aircraft. How many hours in total did you spend on this one job??

  • A complete week of air brushing.

  • pls tell me the name of begginig song

  • song is "I get it" from Chevelle. Great song for this great airbrushing video.

  • aaa omg u must tell me name and artist of the beggining song please!

  • Chevelle - I get it

  • If you wanted to go for an easy fix, could you tape off an area, spray it with gray or white and just kandy coat it? (Candy coated car hood... yum...) I have a spray gun but no airbrush, I thought of taping off some cheap flames, hitting it with white and then pick up some kandy and spray that over it. Would that work?

  • Yes it would work.

  • ed hubbs = GOD!!!

  • HA HA Thanks.

  • All i can say is wow very nice must of taken some hours for that project but well worth it i think

  • Days. LOL

  • how many miles of tapes did you use on this project? lol

  • which iwata model?? the eclipse? ive been using a vega nail brush which is garbage, so i need to upgrade asap

  • The eclipse is a awesome air brush.

  • iwata and other airbrush u'r using are not available here. . .what can you say about badger airbrush? (thats what we are using)

  • Badger is a bad ass air brush.

  • Nice job ed, here in Brasil you are "Moster air brush". perfect

    which music is this?

  • Thanks man.I am not sure on the music.

  • ed ur insane man!! quick question... for the finer detail... like with the skulls.... are there different tips that u use on ur smaller air brushes for like finer work? or is there just one tip size that u use?

  • I would just pick up a air brush for just fine detail work.

  • whats that final touch of black? applied with what?

  • I am not sure of what you are asking me?

  • im from the philippines, me and my brother also does airbrushing,., but its not so popular here yet (southern part of philippines)

  • Well then it is up to you two to make it popular don't ya think? LOL

  • yah right, hehe.
