Lestat becomes weak after Claudia poisons him with tainted blood, after that, Claudia and Louis make their escape, you don't see Lestat again until "modern" Louis goes back to a house of theirs to find the almost skeletal body of Lestat, he's extremely weak at this point and hasn't fed in ages, there's a bit where the two are talking about how things have changed, then at the end he eats the interviwer, then he laughs and sympathy for the devil plays

I wouldnt say that louie's a failure as a vampire i just dont think he really wanted to be one,i mean come one lestat kind of forced him into it, making it sound like being a vampire is the most wonderful thing in the world and then once louie found out you had to kill humans to live he hated it.
A failure Vampire was Nikki, which in part was Lestat's fault - but at the same time, Lestat's desire to be loved, and not remain lonely blinded him to the fact of what his Mother saw, that Nikki wouldn't be able to handle being a vampire. I agree though when you saw Louie isn't a failure as a vampire.

I have to say, I had read the novel(s) before I had even heard of the movie(Though I did read them after the movie came out) But when I found out it was Tom and Brad I almost didn't watch, but I really do think that they did fantastic jobs, could have been better, but it's pretty hard to 100% nail a book character, since the script is a big part of it.

Yes, those people are annoying beyond belief. But I must admit, there's nothing more amusing than a QOTD-movie fan who raves about how amazing the novels are. If you're ever feeling stressed about how pathetic the movie was, I recommend talking to one of them. It really helps.
I'll grant that Stuart Townsend's a looker, but Lestat has to be more than just beautiful. If you ever bothered to actually read the books, he's complex and dirty bastard with a very black sense of humor. He's far from the blandly written sex bomb in the movie.

liked it. Drastically different than the mood of the movie, which in my humble opinion was a work of art. but still highly enjoyable, if you're in the right mood - angry, dark and in love.
Personal opinion: Louis could NOT be just like Lestat. It's just not in him. Excluding just after Claudia's death, Louis is a wimp. In the books he even refuses to drink Maharet's blood to get stronger. He's just not capable of Lestat.
I first watched this a while ago and found it again today. I can honestly say this song has become one of my favorites and every time I hear it I think of this clip. Perfect choice!

You know, people talk about how good Cruise was and I'll grant he was; he just doesn't LOOK like Lestat. I always pictured Julian Sands as Lestat, personally, or Jonathan Rhys Meyers (he was great as Steerpike in Gormenghast and that was SUCH a Lestat role!).
When people read the book EVERYONE pictures them differantly. I picture them with differant hair and facial expressions/attitudes but its never the same when they make a movie. :( I understand your disappointment. It was the axact same way as Twilight. I read the series and now the are making a movie of it this spring and they chose TERRIBLE charactors. But I only think that because I pictured them differantly or just plain better XP Oh well...I geuss we cant have it all.

However i do have to say to make this movie to the best of their ability. They did a damn good job. left things out or put things in. BUT damn good job. Both Book and movie. lets not bitch lets reminisce.

Why r ppl bitchin' about which movie was better? So childish...But I will say i enjoyed the books more than the movie because they have more detail and Louis comes back and Gabrielle and shit like that...but let us not bicker over things like that...great movie by the way...5 stars

Yes, those people are annoying beyond belief. But I must admit, there's nothing more amusing than a QOTD-movie fan who raves about how amazing the novels are. If you're ever feeling stressed about how pathetic the movie was, I recommend talking to one of them. It really helps.

I'll grant that Stuart Townsend's a looker, but Lestat has to be more than just beautiful. If you ever bothered to actually read the books, he's complex and dirty bastard with a very black sense of humor. He's far from the blandly written sex bomb in the movie.

Claudia didnt really deserve to die, Lestat kind of got what was comming to him. He dressed Claudia up like a doll for nearly 30 years and she got tired of it. Even Lastat knew he shouldn't have done it because in the book he begged them not to kill her because it was his fault.

To this day, i cannot watch the scene where Claudia cuts Lestat's throat - when he's bleeding on the carpet. I can't even read that portion of the book. Of all the vampires, I'm glad Claudia died in such a manner

You do realize that Anne Rice her self thought Tom Cruise did a very good job with Lestat? She actually told him personally that he was an awesome Lestat because he stuck to the orignal theme of Lestat, which isn't the one in Queen of the Damned.

Personal opinion: Louis could NOT be just like Lestat. It's just not in him. Excluding just after Claudia's death, Louis is a wimp. In the books he even refuses to drink Maharet's blood to get stronger. He's just not capable of Lestat.

Oh come on now. I read the book and thought it kicked ass too, but the movie had incredible atmosphere and was as true as they could make it without making it 6 hours long. Don't forget Anne Rice herself wrote the screen play. If you want a true abomination try Queen of the Damned.

You know, people talk about how good Cruise was and I'll grant he was; he just doesn't LOOK like Lestat. I always pictured Julian Sands as Lestat, personally, or Jonathan Rhys Meyers (he was great as Steerpike in Gormenghast and that was SUCH a Lestat role!).

When people read the book EVERYONE pictures them differantly. I picture them with differant hair and facial expressions/attitudes but its never the same when they make a movie. :( I understand your disappointment. It was the axact same way as Twilight. I read the series and now the are making a movie of it this spring and they chose TERRIBLE charactors. But I only think that because I pictured them differantly or just plain better XP Oh well...I geuss we cant have it all.
