Ichiro was fighting dishonorably. His blade was pointed down. This was only done in the endpoint of a stroke, not in a stance. Also, the swords are not katana, they were in between the length of a wakizashi and katana. Other than those minor problems with historical norms, it was very well made and true to how it was then.

Such a sad and touching story - yet at the sametime very insightful and soulful- one of the reasons why I dislike it when people liken anime to comics (in the American sense of the word) cause alot of anime- ( not the Americanized versions but the true ones) deal often with many social issues, they also tend to have alot of soul and emotions to them- they are much more meaningful than comics in the American sense.

i understand and respect Japanese culture and all but one thing i can't abide and tolerate is sepukku. Just because things don't go accordingly to what you want them to you kill yourself?! I agree with the guy who died...she is a wimp. instead of killing yourself... try and make the most of your time by being productive. She fought so she could live right? If she didn't she could've let the guy cut her down. Sometimes human emotions are screwed up...really.

I think this is one of the best. I like the animation and for a short it contained alot of info. I don't think the reason they fought was the point, although I would guess it was his remark that women should not be samurai . The point was he knew he never stood a chance, he had already lost before they started because he loved her.

That or a combination of the two: the best films are ones that make a person ponder.

A girl goes to the trouble of becoming a warrior and fights her brother for no apparent reason. Having sliced his guts open she then feels sorry and kills herself. This is like all anime i have seen which is why i don't like anime - they always try to be overly drastic about things that don't really make much sense. I guess i just don't get it huh?

By your comment you obviously haven't seen that much anime.

And you will find that most animations will be overly drastic as they must capture and convey an emotion which is alot harder to do when you don't have onscreen actors.

Nah, I wasn't trolling. Half of the time I go to post something I think "maybe I shouldn't post this, someone will get offended" and then I think "screw it, they should read between the lines and they shouldn't get so wound up" so it is nice to see someone responding civilly. I have seen a fair amount of animes because I see that people get so worked up about them and think that there must be something about them but every one I have tried leaves me cold.

But im glad to hear you were not trolling, in that case i would go with sechmolinari advice for death note as its one of my favs, although you may find it has alot more death in it then just the title compared to other anime.

If you want something completely different my suggestion would be Plantes , if you can find it.

But like i said google around abit and you will find anime from comedy to horror to even porn.

She even committed suicide correctly and the sword styles were original brilliant use of nature and a sense of history in the character development. Everything was ace!

x_o The animation needs to be a little more fluid and I have some issues with the girl's face from time to time. Other than that this was pretty okay even if it needed a little... I don't know, something to make the impact of their death a little sadder then just that little bit of flashback. Maybe a flash back with more symbolism or something. Anyway, it was pretty decent.

Somehow I feel it'd be even more tragic if she HAD to live on even though she killed her lover for whatever reason.

How come these are so sad? Interesting they kept true to Japanese history. When a woman commits suicide or Jigaki, she pierces her throat to sever her arteries in a singal stroke. But, they forgot the part about tying the legs, so they may be found in a modest position.

well there are 30 pictures(frames) a second, so normally it'd be about 10, 620 pictures, but anime has a lot of scrolling stills, which this one had about 4 shots from about 10 seconds, or 300 frames, plus anime can have an extremely low frame rate of about... 5 frames per second at times... so I'd say it'd still be in the 3000 - 7000 picture(like sometimes it's just the crow moving on a still background) range...

so basically, just write a story, story board how the shots will work/what sounds will you use, then just draw it...

I'd reccommend building up an art style, then comics, then try this. it's a bit of work, but I'd say you could pull this off in about 2 weeks - 4 months depending on how hard you work...

Gah, sorry, but I haven't tried animating in photoshop, I don't have it, so I don't really look that up...

on the other hand, if you can find a movie editor that lets you put it on more than one layer at a time, you could just add the photo shop images as .png or .gif files and edit the frames together. I usually use just flash(which you can also just randomly add photoshop images, just not as well...

I have heard of other free programs that could do this, but I haven't found any good ones...

one the two were childhood friends both dreaming of being great warriors but the boy had the thought in his mind that girls couldnt kill what they found beautiful

to prove the boy wrong the girl and the boy meet up as rivals several years after there childhood, resulting in the battle although short the truth is not only were they friend but by being friends and rivals they also were lovers

in the end the girl cant live
