  • and the beastie boys before .... lol

  • Mediocre hardcore. Hip-Hop is where they belong.

Plus, the other hardcore bands in NYC around this time made this band look like Journey.

  • cocaine

  • sounds like the germs abit

  • haha what

  • :26

  • I love how they were on this album

  • Shit manI still have cookie puss and pollywog stew orig. back then they fucking ripped to bad they started to rap WHYDONT YA GET A HAIR CUT FARMER BOY!?

  • Wow, the Beasties back in their hardcore days. B-E-A-S-T-I-E!!

  • And the blast beat was born \m/

  • @Moby104105 well actually the blast beast was born in jazz long before this.

  • @thejesinator Ah I see. Then perfected by Napalm Death, Sepultura, and the Beastie Boys in the 80's lol.

  • @thejesinator I think the musical context in which it was used in jazz was so different that I wouldn't really call that a blast beat... and as far as I know, only a few drummers used it, infrequently. In any event, it was certainly a significant development for hardcore that blast beats started cropping up in 1982.

  • @thejesinator what jazz has blast beats in it?

  • @sindrole Naked city, probably

  • @thejesinator I don't know.... I've heard blast used as part of solos before in jazz but never as an actual drum rhythm.

  • ya they started because they were really into bad brains. the name of the band was influenced by that as well. the documentary american hardcore talks about it a bit. though they have made badass hip hop, their punk rock stuff was the shit!

  • they were a hardcore punk band?

  • @wolfservant5

no. this is just a band pretending to be them.

  • @RecordingDIY sure, your right

  • @RecordingDIY lol no, this IS actually the beastie boys.

  • @Binochy77

    I was being sarcastic :P

  • NICE !!!

the BB i knew was them doing hip hop

  • Damn..The Beastie Boys invented Blast Beats?? Holy Hell, man!!

  • @Shinobi1010

    Blast beats were already around.

  • @Likeyoucare

    It was a joke, dude.

  • Wow man Beastie Boys and Blast Beats haha

  • They were the fucking shiz nitt

  • Damn! The Beasties were doing blast beats? What the...

  • JESUS! Were they really a punk band? Nowdays they are just awful. Don't get me wrong, I like RATM and Other bands merging rock and hip-hop styles, but I'd still say this is way better than they are now.

  • @nekku19

    no, they weren't.

  • play fast or die

  • YEAH, FUCKIN' BLASTBEATS!!!

  • Craaazeeee.

  • I had this tape years ago and wondered if this stuff still existed. I'd told friends about it and that the BBs were punk before the Hip Hop stuff and nobody ever believed me.

  • he rips darby crash

  • Yeah, it definitely sounds like a blast beat in the song. I know the D.R.I. song "No Sense" has a blast beat in it, but not sure which song came first, or if either where the first blast beat in a song.

  • No the blast beat was invented by jazz musicians in the 50s believe it or not

  • @simony999 so was the double pedal

  • what in the hell?

  • Boys Entering Anarchistic State Towards Internal Excellence or summin like dat

  • The best Hardcore you ever heard? Thats a joke right?

  • what the fuck my version of this is even faster xD.

fucking great punk they did. wish they had made more..

  • I don't get it. This is some of the best hardcore I've ever heard, but after this they released hip hop records. What happened?

  • @TruemetalandpunkONLY they're doing funky jazz

and actually they pretty much are some of the best in the three respective genres

  • Wow. The beastie boys invented the blast beat with this tune and then continues their career with hip hop... just strange.

  • @TVoneiro It's friggin' messed up man, but I'm pretty sure they didn't invent it.

  • Blast beats are old shit man, jazz musicians probably invented them and old recordings date back to the awful rock band attila

  • its weird that beastie boys start out as hardcore punk and then turn into fuckin hip hop.

  • But they did great hip hop, not like every mainstream shit that is out there right now

  • I'm more into their hardcore punk stuff but they did make good rap...

They're a group who can do it all...

  • @Sonarion your an idiot you don't know what REAL hip hop is

  • @Sonarion What are you talking about? The Beastie Boys ARE mainstream shit.

  • @punkhardcore69 And they're using blast beats. Something strange happened.

  • yeah its fuckin crazy

  • not as weird as hardcore and reggae

  • @NWKtown ......you mean bad brains.......and not as genius

  • Hahaha Blast beats in 1983 !

    Yeah

  • 1982. but i'd still question whether it's an actual blast. guess you'd have to ask that chick drummer they had from luscious jackson, ha.

  • i wish they were still doing the hardcore thing

  • very good, the hip hop and the hardcore beastie boys are amazing. the early beastir boys remind me of the germs, especially the singing, sounds alot like darby cash
