If I remember correctly John Schneider (Bo Duke) said this was a world record of 193 ft on the dvd bonus features of the episode One Armed Bandits. (Not the same episode as the jump) and that they recently broke that record during one of the "Dukesfest"
@TheBanditProduction You can see the onboard camera hanging from the passenger door in the first 3 seconds before hitting the ramp. Can still remember when this show began. Best episode, though, was the season opener after Bo and Luke's return to the show the previous season - when they flashed back to the birth of the General. Had great shots of the motor on a stand.
@foxholewilly That was a great episode. since i started watching the Dukes of Hazzard i always wondered how Bo and Luke got the General. They also say this jump was the first jump of the General Lee. BTW in the episode "Granny Anny"you can see a camera guy sitting next to some boxed during the train jump wich is my second favorite jump
Possibly, but a lot of Knight Rider's stunt work was with miniatures, even in the 1st season. The Dukes didn't start with that until near the end of the series.
@PaulIsDeadMissHim your right about knight rider using the miniatures. The best stunts I always like was the ski mode (driving on 2 wheels) that is a hard stunt. I read somewhere that Buzz bundy did the KITT and general Lee ski mode. He was the only stunt man who did it drivers side up. Both shows had good stunts
@XYtruck25 .....WHAT......HOW DARE YOU? You were still sucking on yer mommas left TEET when I was watching this back in 1979! HOW DARE YOU! Kitt came After Dukes of Hazzard! Them boys were jumping rivers before Kitt's first microchip was installed! I'm from Texas.......HOW DARE YOU! lol.
@XYtruck25 Are you kidding me they used so many cheap plastic models to do the stunts for KITT! Are you telling me that the episode where KITT drives on water was a real Firebird? I think not if you watch the episodes and open your beady lil eyes Jackass you'll see that half the cars where without insides or motors! The cars they used in the first five seasons of the Dukes were just that cars!
@XYtruck25 No it didn't, the General Lee jump seen in the above vid was nearly 300 feet. At the time it was a unoffical world record for distance. The Knight Rider episode "Good Day at White Rock" in which K.I.T.T. jumped the same area is cleary shorter in distance.
@PaulIsDeadMissHim Wasn't that Sheriff Little who landed that? Or no, because Sheriff Little's car was green and white. Which department on the show used brown cars? Oh, wait, that's Buford T. Justice! Laught out loud!
Yeah Rosco later cuts him off and he rolls that car lol and he tells Rosco your driving in sub standard and Rosco says i didnt turn over. LOL great show the Dukes of Hazzard yep season 1 Double Sting
0:01 you can see the camera on the side of the general lee :D

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Knight rider beat this jump by 5 feet. The stunt guys on Knight rider were so much better than the dukes. KITT ruled.

@ChristianEntertain It was Choctaw Sheriff Emmit "Hammer Hand" Ragsdale, but it was the only appearance of him on the show.

@PaulIsDeadMissHim who was it then?
12peter96 5 months ago
@12peter96
It was a sheriff from another county, who they called 'Hammerhand'.
PaulIsDeadMissHim 5 months ago
@nady22 It was Sherrif Ed Little of Chickasaw County. You can tell because the car is mostly green.

they hadda cut the chargers landing but that monaco was still goin
flcl64 2 years ago
Corey and John both jumped over 170 feet. That impact on landing is tough even with the hanging harness.

Interesting you can see the camera on the back passenger side of the General just before the jump.

I used to love these DAMN rednecks as a child! Friday night, in San Antonio, Texas, I would be glued to the television to watch this show!

The jump, I heard, was 300 feet.
daisyheyes 2 years ago
KITT actually made the same jump a few years later for knight rider, but the General Lee jumped further :).
Does anyone know how far it actually was? It's eluded me (I estimate at least 160-170 feet)

do you know where i could find the knight rider jump?
