This is a great example of the great Janis Joplin. She was just starting. I heard she loved Jimi. So did I so did everyone. That fateful fall of 70 was a hurtful shock - still just getting the grief out. God Bless American music and music makers whereever you are.
@MsKoali I could not agree more with you. It seems all my heroes died at once, i use to think it was a conspiracy, still not sure, but Janis and Jimi And Morrison changed my life forever, i am still grieving
I was born in the wrong decade... I love this woman, wish I could have met her or at least seen her perform in person. There is no one like her... no one comparable... she is Janis.
face parte dintre misticii muzicii (mai putin "artisti") , la fel ca Amalia Rodriguez, Cesaria Evoria, Bob Dylan, Angus Young, Freddy Mercury, Maria Callas, Luciano Pavaroti si alti cativa - putini, rari, de nepretuit
Janis opened my mind up to feeling the music, and my soul.
When they died weeks apart my whole life turned upside down..all I had was thier albums and my dark black light lit bedroom, and that silence that the music had died........ Never forget that part of my life, and every now and then, it comes back.
@JohannaMJ I hear you dude. But Janis and Jimi were in a differant place than our brother Michael. These children were loving us during the late 60's turmoil, when we had no derection and we didn't trust Nixon or anyone over 30. Mike was my age. He was no more unlightened by the time that I was. Janis and Jimi and Crosby ,Still, Nash and Young made us unite and feel powerful. This isn't music. This is american history.
@Paulina9427 How lucky you are to have known her…. Wow, you know guys pay compliments all the time about Hair, Looks etc. The best one I ever heard towards ME from a great guy friend – “You are Sweet, Honest and Down to Earth S. don’t ever change”….. I do my best to make him proud. So there are still some “real” women out there :)
I saw her in person many times at the Avalon Ballroom, the Fillmore, and Winterland. Even saw her at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. Her last performance. I adored her music and the times. I was 19 and 20. She was an amazing performer. I had friends who knew her and loved her. She was San Francisco. I felt bereft when she left us. She didn't know how much she was loved.
None better. When I hear her sing I look to the heavens and ask "Why Janis, why??" So talented, so witty, so bright. God how I miss her voice and talent. Saw her and met her in '68. I never saw anyone else sing who could make you feel that she was singing just to you even thought there were thousands of people there. I wish you were here, Janis.
Yanan45, wish I could claim the same! I agree, the best white blues singer ever! No doubt! I was stunned when Janis, Morrison, and Hendrix all died in such a short period of time; sort of made you take pause and consider what you were doing with your life. Well, for a few weeks anyway!
I saw and met her! You all dream of what she was like. Smart, serious, all music perfection, she lived what she felt. It is wonderful that you care so much about her outstanding talent. She was and always will be the best white blues singer EVER. In her private life she was .....I have no right to say....she was Janis.
Already said it... But still, and, always be... Janis Joplin.... Not serious, but Passionate, and True... By the way, With a PRIVATE Live... It, doesn't matter... does it?!
I soooo agree with you, she will always be the BEST white blues singer, EVER! I loved and enjoyed her from the early days! There will never be another JANIS!! She wasn't around long enough and that's a shame!!!!
@yanan45 I agree 100% she was so real as a performer, but she was so sad in her real life, everyone around you looked down on her or plain screwed her,she was a giver and they all were takers, she DIED from a broken heart, irregardless that drugs stopped her heart.
@JJMFB1 I agree with you, what killed her was heartache. This is one of my favorite songs she did, I use to listen to her album over and over when I was in school. Love Big Brother and the Holding company. She was an original, no one can come close to her, she is a legend.
@yanan45 this is the music I grew up on I had the old record player with the upper arm; i'd extend it and it would play all night; I would sneak out, it would still be playing when I got home...now I'm 53 and I still rock it, still up for sneaking out at night lol!
