@cannonballsax And yet beforehand, they were moving to the beat as if they were entertained. Hard to say what they really thought about this whole thing. There's a scene in "Mary Poppins" that is rather similar to this.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I had so forgotten this sweet song! Bert is my favorite character now, though when i was little i liked ernie. Bert is the ultamite nerd. You gotta love him.
Poor Old Buddy (cough...dull...cough) Bert, he really need a girlfriend. ;) Although there was that one girl who ran away ever sence he wanted to hold her Ear, tooth, nose, etc. ;)
Great Clip, Frank Oz needs to come back to see his old unibrowed yellow friend. I heard that his director life isn't as popular as his classic characters.
Plus if Bert has a pet rock, I wonder if Bernice would be jealous? Hmmmm.
I couldn't have said it better myself. At least Bert didn't try to claim that his rock talked like lil' empty-headed Zoe, who is probably my least favorite character in the history of the show.
Zoe is supposed to represent a four-year-old girl, though; it's logical that she'd think less realistically than adult-like Bert. I still get annoyed when she obsesses over Rocco, mind you; but I don't think she's a total airhead.
Alright, I respect that. I just never cared for Zoe, and I remember seeing the episode where we are introduced to Rocco, and when Zoe said he talked, even Elmo was surprised. He said "it's a rock!" in an "uh, hello" kind of tone. He's just about Zoe's age and even he thinks more realistically.
And the great thing about Rocko is that he brings out a side of Elmo we don't usually get to see--Elmo the adult, so to speak. Usually Elmo's the happy little kid, but Zoe's Rocko thing drives him nuts and it's hilarious to watch suddenly become the ticked off elder one of the two. (In fact, it's almost Bert-like whenever he turns to the camera with that "Are you people hearing this?!" look. ;)
Bert can sing,but,he can't sing.

Where did the music come from? Bert didn't have a radio with him.
1990babyface 2 years ago
This is television. Music can come out of nowhere whenever you wamt it to.
Garrettk41 2 years ago 3
Yeah, but this is a kids program. They don't need to confuse children about that.
1990babyface 2 years ago
It's not confusing. They make music come out of nowhere in every movie or show, etc.

Well, if it makes you feel better, there was a sketch in which Kermit says "Hey where's that music coming from? Where's the orchestra?"

This is in the same room where Same Sound Brown taught Farley to read.

I can picture what would happen today if Elmo and Zoe watched it together:
Zoe: Elmo, why don't you have a problem with Bert having a pet rock?
Elmo: Zoe, Bert didn't claim that his rock talked like Rocko, in fact, Bert knows that rocks can't talk!
All in all, I agree with what other people are saying about Zoe and Rocko.

They stole that "class, class...quiet" from Cheech and Chong!!!!

Hopefully. There will be no remake with Zoe and Rocco.
teenangel93 4 years ago
Don't worry. No one will ever be able to convince Zoe that Rocco can't talk. She'd flat out refuse to sing it for that fact alone.

Well, Frank does still do Bert, every once in a while. Actually, just a couple times a year.

Last time I saw this clip, it was on a "normal" episode on PBS...showing Bert in a new setting, though, is always memorable. Four stars!

Hey Bert, check the apartment wall for a Fraggle hole--if there's one, you'll be able to get a whole family of pet rocks!

Talk about the adult side of Elmo. I am sure that he would rather deal with Bert having a rock, than Zoe.

So wait- was Bert the student or teacher? Bottle caps, pigeons, and pet rocks. Bert is quite the iconoclast. ;)
