Ali was troubled by various fighters throughout his career. You don't let Joe Frazier nail you with hooks repeatedly just because you're clowning.
Good left hookers were always a problem for Ali as he never knew how to block the punch. Guys who could jab with him, like Jones or Norton, could upset his rhythm, likewise pressure fighters.
Ali wasnt really clowning round in Frazier I. He had to stay on ropes and hope Frazier would punch himself out. He really wasnt in shape to fight him---18 rounds of boxing in the past 3 1/2 yrs, and going agaisnt Frazier in his prime. Ali made it look as if he were clowning

he was rusty, past his prime, he lost his speed, stamina, less powr, n he lost motivation, ali who came bak n 70 was not even close 2 prime ali, n he still whooped on frazier, beat him 2x, beat norton 2x, beat shavrs, beat foreman,... got championship 2x mor, all not in his prime
@MrPelavacas ---Ali did not in any way deserve decision in 3d Norton fight. Def lost the 1st, andthe 2d was very close. not to take anything awayfrom him- though--still the greatest IMO

ali was a long way off his best form here, a good learning fight when still developing. shows how doug jones and henry cooper gave him trouble.

It was Ali's 10th fight as a pro? I thought he won easily. Ali was green here but he won and on one guys scorecard every round.
