good player... bad guitar :)) ... try in that combination a guitar with individual select like Dan Armstrong super stratocaster where you can use any kind a pickup combination you want it from parallel to series... I really use this combination with 3 PAFs [single coils in humbuckers format and I can say that gives me wings ;) ]
@zapz2101 as per a previous comment: Ffor this recording I used my Ash Customworks "Catherine" guitar, into my AMT Electronics California Sound distortion pedal, into my Boss CE-5 chorus, into my iMac, running Garageband, and LAConvolver.
So just an excellent distortion, a chorus, and a cabinet simulation (a couple of 4x12s) and then some delay - and probably reverb as well.
I'm interested in this AMT Electronics CFS California Sound Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal you're using. The unit describes itself as a "combo distortion emulator." It seems like it's a blend between a tube distortion modeler and a tube amp modeler.. Totally unique but my ear is hearing you fight those odd frequency harmonics that you get so often with these pedals. You play the right note but it's annoyingly 1/2, 1/3 or 1/4 step out of tune. Or maybe it's just your playing? ;-)
@confuser69 It's a great pedal. I got it and the AMT Fatal Tube at the same time. The FT has a bit more of a unique sound, but they're both great in their own way.
Just listening to this video, I wonder if what you're hearing is mostly the chorus (though I wouldn't exclude my playing :-p )
@ confuser69: Yeah I can pretty much guarantee you're hearing the light chorus effect he has going on here. Thats actually how a chorus works. It just plays what you play but wavers it slightly above and below pitch to give it a sense of depth. So you ARE hearing the notes going slightly in and out of tune, but it sounds great to me. Also, no offense to the guy in the video, but a few bends weren't quite to full pitch, but yeah, I think its the chorus :) BTW I think I might get this

I just was just kidding about your playing.. The reverb here is really nice. I've never had a lot of luck with reverb either amp spring reverb tanks or with digital reverb pedals. I kinda wish someone would invent a new plugin. One that let you mix reverb, cabinet simulation and natural room dynamics acoustics. All using impulse algorithms. You've got a good sound here. It's almost studio grade in need of just a few tweaks. Reminds a litle of Franz Zappas "shut up and play your guitar"
@confuser69 That would be a cool plugin. Though would it be as much a case of getting impulse responses for each of those and using existing plugins to apply them? I guess what you're envisaging would be a plugin that allowed mixing the three all in one place. Nice idea.
I don't mind you kidding about my kidding - though again, I wouldn't be too sure it wasn't at fault ...
@hillsmith - cheers. It is an ibanez neck indeed, from an S470DX, but with the locking nut removed.

Btw - great playing

Is that an Ash branded neck? Looks like an Ibanez - funny if it's not as We all remember the old " lawsuit" days!

@15viceandvirtues I use a plugin called LAConvolver. Impulses to load with it can be found all over the net 8)

Wow, you remind me of Frank Zappa 0.o
Nice tone man, and nice playing! But, how did you load impulses into garageband?
Sorry, im just getting the feel of recording and i wanna try impulses :/

basically you're just awesome. that tone is killer!
