I did it differently. After you beat gut with slowpoke I teleport to cerulean then went to route 24-25 then menu popped up then I caught mew Lv.7.

@jubic 100 Base stats, that means it has naturally high defence and attack, its a very good pokemon with a massive movepool, backed up by the stats to utilize that mazzive movepool.

Also, this is R/B/Y here, bug pokemon, its only weakness are generally very weak, and even then the easiest, most common ones (Beedrrill, butterfree) at part poison, menaing they have a weakness to the STAB phychic mew has.

Mews a very good pokemon, please shut the fuck up.

@Moynul321 the amount of times you use growl determines mew's level when its in that fight you must use growl on the slow poke successfully 6 times to make it level 1 in first gen and a few other gens if you level up with a levle 1 pokemon it becomes a level 100 pokemon. he was using sleep powder to avoid getting hurt.

Just do the Mew glitch (Any form. as long as you get a mew.) But instead of fighting to defeat your opponent, use Growl until it has no effect any more then defeat your opponent. Now, go fight Mew (who should be at lvl1) and catch him/her/it. Check Mews stats, put it first in your party then go into a battle, swap Mew for another Pokemon then defeat the other Pokemon. The exp will be shared and Mew will just become lvl100. I just saved you 10 mins of boredom.

That's odd. I've done this trick countless times and the Mew (or other Pokemon) depending on the trainer you battle is always level 7. Either way, I've got all 151, so it doesn't matter. Just an observation.

@pikachuvssonic hey i found out that there is like 20 lrt's (long range trainers) and also the poke mon you get is dependit on the special of the pokemon you fought o if you start a lrt event and go to your pokebox in ur pc and change boxes it will save then beat the elite 4 and then go and fight a dugtrio or a diglett and use growl on it six time after uve done that yoy go fight a pokemon low lvl like in viriden forest and switch to all you pokemon than ko it and there you have i a lvl 100 mew

@goopersosis It definitely is. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but I'll explain what I know. The real glitch in all of this, is that you are able to fly (or teleport) away if you press the start button before a scroll-in battle. Even though you escaped, the game will think you are in battle. Because the gameboy did not have a lot of internal memory, different info is saved on the same location based on if you are in a fight or just walking. The slowpoke Spe stat trigger an encounter with Mew.
