Actually, I did it like this: I took a drum loop and manually cut out a kick, snare, and hi-hat. I think I usually assign the snare and the hi-hat to two different pads next to each other turning one of them down a little bit to create accents with my snare rolls and hi-hat lines (an old drum machine trick). I create a drum break in an empty song bank (2 to 8 measures), and then resample it. Remember to only quantize half of it to give it that "live" feel.
