Back in the 60s, this song was covered by a white guy named Narvelle Phelts (or something like that), and no one heard Johnny Adams sing it. Fortunately, my best friend was a black guy who knew his popular music, and he gave me an education.

The first time I took my brother to see Johnny live , he said. "If this guy's so great, why is he doing Tom Jones covers?' Then I explained that Tom Jones was doing Johnny Adams covers. The greatest voice to ever come out of New Orleans.

I've never haeard of him before. I had a look on Wika'p and he started as a gospel singer. Started recordiing etc., and was known as The Tan Canary because of his vocal range. Amazing voice. Sadly died in '98.Nice one Tim.
