I don't think anyone wants to stop anyone flying. The 400kg of carbon dioxide per passenger on a transatlantic airliner flight is a fairly accurate estimate. I do not think airliners are the primary cause of increased CO2 in the Earth's atmosphere, but they are a major contributor. Regarding species, extinction is the rule, not the exception. An estimated 99.9% of all known species are extinct. Polar bears and humans do not have much of a chance in the long-term anyway. Be a scorpion.
