  • The `spirit´ of my question was just to get right informations, nothing else. As you know, there are lots of weirdos out there, especially in the internet. Personally I think your answers are adequate. I regret that I asked in the first place.

  • No hard feelings. I apologize for over-reacting.

    It doesn't feel good, though, to have your conversion questioned. And there really was / is no reason that you should ask that, even if you're worried about weirdos. I could have a perfectly valid conversion and be saying insane things online. Or I could be a Jew from birth raised Orthodox and say outrageous things. OR not be Jewish at all and be 100% on target regarding Torah. Conversion has nothing to do with validity of information.

  • OK, just to my understanding , you are a ger zedek? Converted by a kosher Bet Din? I meant, do you have a Rav, perhaps of your community, do you consult in questions of halakha?

  • Tell me, how does whether or not I'm a ger Sedeq have anything to do with this video? These questions should have been asked through private messaging. Perhaps you do not know how to do this, in which case it is understandable. I do hope that's the case.

    The only difference being a ger Sedeq should make to you is whether certain commandments apply to you regarding how one should act toward a ger Sedeq with extra love and sensitivity.

  • Questioning whether I converted by a kosher beth din is somewhat offensive. It gives me the feeling that you're looking for some way to cheapen the information which I provide here (information given with more references than one will normally find elsewhere).

    Even had I not converted, the information would be equally valid; It happens to be that I converted under a 'beis din' which has only been described to me as perhaps the least questionable bet din in the entire U.S., in Williamsburg, NY.

  • The ONLY difficulties I have had with this beis din were difficulties with the SECULAR 'Israeli' gov. when attempting to make 'aliyah.' This was solely because the particular beis din I converted under was no official ties to the secular 'Israeli gov.' In order to get the conversion accepted by the SECULARS, I first had to get my conversion confirmed by Bet Din Tzedeq in Jerusalem, then by Eidas ha-Chareidis, and then finally by the Rabbanut of the 'Israeli gov.'

    Hope that's good enough 4 u.

  • It is not possible that my conversion could be more confirmed and officially accepted in the entire Jewish world than it already is. I have official documents from each of these beiti dinim who reconfirmed the conversion - 4 in all: 1 which as I said is perhaps the most unquestionable in the U.S.; 1 from the highest beit din in 'Israeli law,' and 1 from the highest beit din in the WORLD among ultra-orthodox.

    ...but you should know that according to Talmudic law this is completely unrequired.

  • Why in the world would you think that I relied on a conversion from an unkosher beit din when in all my videos I constantly profess acceptance of historical Orthodox sources?

    The 'spirit' of your questioning is something that drives people away from Truth (Torah). Thank goodness most Jews ask questions in such a manner. But of course the weak minded usually blame the whole for a mistaken few.

    I already answered your question about a 'Rav.' Yes I have a 'rabbanim.'

  • P.S. by "unrequired" I only refer to all the certification and recertification. 3 kosher witnesses of a conversion are absolutely required, but they only need to be 3 kosher Jews. Hhaz'al never said that they need to be giant Talmidei Hhakhamim or have "smikha" from some widely accepted yeshiva or gadol ha-dor.

    Hhaz'al already clarified for us the standards of a kosher Jew, in the Talmudic texts. Let us not be transgress 'bal tosif.'

  • Shalom, who is your Rav? Do you follow Shulkhan Arukh? What do you do if Shulkhan Arukh differs from Rambam?

    It seems for me that you are a kind of Baladi or Dor Dai but certainly a Talmide ha-Rambam ;)

  • I, as all people, am obligated in the Torah as legislated by the Mosaic Court. I'm not obligated in widespread popular practice just b/c it's widespread, or any book just b/c it's widespread. I use Mishne Torah as my guide to Talmudic law. Shulhhan Arukh is incomplete.

    When there is a halakhic matter which is unclear to me, I ask around 5 people for explanation. If it's a Torah issue, I go with the stricter understanding. If a Rabbinic matter, I am lenient - WHEN I DO NOT KNOW FOR MYSELF.

  • Rambam explains in his commentary to Pirqei Avoth that 'make for yourself a Rav' means establishing for yourself a poseq WHEN YOU DO NOT KNOW what the law is. He even says that this poseq can have less knowledge than yourself.

    There is no Talmudic concept of a 'rav' as is commonly [mis]understood today. The only absolute binding authority for religious practice is the Mosaic Court. Any modern rav who teaches contrary to this Court is lower than a zaqen mamre.

  • I reposted this video because in the first version the text was moving too quickly. Originally I made the text go by more quickly because I was afraid slowing it down would make the video exceed 10 mins... well.... I was right, but for the first time YouTube allowed me to post a video which exceeds 10 mins. Whooppy! :)
