Well then, it seems that some of us are happy about the mediocre state of Europe and the constant arguing. I on other hand would like to see some active politics done, with first being common energy policy, and then establishing ourselves as an alternative to US and China for the world community. Europe already proved on several occasions that soft diplomacy can do more than aggression and by "balls" I mean more pro-active work instead of simply responding to what is flying at you.

Personally I've seen no interference of church into EU politics, and besides It is embedded in constitutions of EU countries that there is separation of church from state. although I can see where you're coming from, especially with religion playing big part in US. But regardless of everything, it is private matter of every person what does he believe in. That is what we call tolerance. And you must admit that European culture was shaped for almost 2000 years by Christianity. It's our history.

That 5,000 Politicians are grossly over rewarded for betraying their Countries is as you show obvious.

In ANY sense of the word Democracy the EU should be shut down as by a two to one majority the people have voted NO.

To take the figures & provide the FACTS

The EU Constitution/Lisbon Treaty must by its own LAWS be RATified by all 27 member regions. So far 19 Nations have surrendered to the RATification that's 19 countries or 5000 politicians!

France with a population of 64,473,140

Netherlands with a population of 16,428,071

& Ireland with a population of 4,339,000

EACH by a majority voted NO

In Democratic terms 85M to 5,000 AGAINST

Using the official numbers and doing the RIGHT math we have that on referendums about 22M voted NO to ECT and 11M voted YES.

The "5000" politians you mention were FREELY ELLECTED by the PEOPLE.

If you want respect for the countries that said NO you have to respect the countries that said YES, whatever the way they choose.

they were not elected or given a mandate to transfer parts of their sovereignty and parts of their powers to Brussels

and in the 3 countries with a real debate (France, Holland, Ireland) it was always a NO

in the 2 countries without a debate (Spain, Luxembourg) it was a yes

those that don't know the real EU tend to support it, those that know how the EU works tend to oppose it
