In the original version he was the ONLY bonus boss.

There are 16 more now, in the remake but they're not secret.

How accessible are those drinks you use, as well as the best restorative items? You must need a lot, seeing how you use them even in random battles.

The drinks can be bought.

X-potions and elixirs are rare drops, so it's quite annoying getting enough of them for the upcoming bosses, oh, and you can also get Megaelixirs from the ship minigame, but that'd be insane, because of the difficulty of that minigame.

And Death machine isn't the average random encounter, you could compare him to Intagnir.
