Come in the Spring, especially the month of May and going into the first half of June. You will highly increase your opportunities to see a tornado. May is 1st in tornado frequency and June is 2nd in tornado frequency, by the time the second half of June is in, the storm frequency slows down quickly. If you can only come in the summer, your best opportunities will be in Manitouba and Ontario Canada. The dates I caught tornadoes are May 13, 22, 23, 24, and June 15th. Seen 9 total on these 5days

You know it seems like every year poor Protection gets hit by a tornado. I guess it's just in the path of most weather patterns. But beautiful tornado at the end. It had that cool asphalt like color. Amazing cell too. Producing three tornadoes on three separate mesocyclones.

I've always been interested in tornado activity. Moreso after our home was hit by an F-3 in Clemmons, NC, on May 8, 2008.

Our tornado hit at night so there's no video of it approaching. The wind and its sounds are unforgettable.

As a Ks native, have seen some weird shit by twisters. Once, dropping a friend off after work at his mobile home park (about 28 yrs. ago), we had to stop & watch while tornado ripped thru. Afterward, sped up to his 'trailer'. It was ripped in two. As he ran up, his wife walked out of shower wrapped in a towel. She had no idea anything had happened. The other half was GONE! They can be just that 'surgical'.

During Hurricane Ike, a tornado passed near my house at about 4:30AM. That's a sound I will remember as long as I live. People ask me what it sounded like. "Big" is my best answer.
