FOR ANYONE WITH PERFORMANCE ISSUES WITH iOS 5:

I went to my local Apple Store today, booked an appointment and explained to the guy at the Genius Bar about my issues and how many people had the issues online. He was able to reproduce the performance issues and gave me a brand new iPod with iOS 4.3.5 installed within 5 minutes! DON'T UPDATE IF YOU LIKE THE SMOOTH PERFORMANCE OF iOS4! Thumbs-up this message so others know what to do - - Apple are very easygoing about replacing!

Hey guys I found the solution! Go into iTunes, and look at your music in "album list" view (its the second box right by the search bar with the squares and lines on it), highlight ALL of your songs, and then click on one of the albums and change size to *small*. This should change the size of all of your albums on your computer screen to a smaller size. Then, sync your iPhone/iPod (the artwork will automatically be updated), and voila! Thumbs up so people can see this!

@MasterGunnerOO1 Nevermind... It appears I've spoken too soon... I'm playing around with it some and it still eventually lags. Maybe this will work for some people (it worked for me for awhile), but it doesn't stay fixed... APPLE FIX THIS!!!! X/

Got same problem but for me I use coverflow a lot as I have my iPod touch setup landscape in my car setup so really annoys me. Wanted to downgrade but big hassle from ios5. Heard an update coming in a couple of weeks to sort some stuff out hopefully this will be one of them!

yeah with ios 5, cover flow is practically useless, I know it's maybe not the most important feature but for it to be so laggy and shit, apple really fucked up there.....and the dumb thing is it's so obvious as well, how'd they not notice?

facing same issue on my Iphone4 with IOS5, but this issue in NOT there in IPAD 2 atleast. Maybe because IPad2 has dual core processors. I hope apple fixes the issue soon on iphone.

My 3GS cover flow isn't as bad as that, but it is noticably choppier, and the edges are no longer anti-aliased.

Yea I got the same issue. I'm really bummed cover flow is one of my favorite features. On a side note...HORSE is one of my favorite bands :)
