I presume they're patagonian sea lions, since their snouts are not as pointed as californian sea lions. I wonder what the survival value of their different snouts are?
Now that's dedication...they don't care how silly they look, as long as it gets the job done and the animals are taken care of the way they need to be.
No entiendo porque ningun peruano comenta algo aquí?? bueno pues seré la primera, los felicito por haber creado esta ong, y espero yo tambien ser parte de esto., ya les escriví!
that is unique,I hope it works :) I noticed that most of the people are young people. That would be an awesome intern/volunteer opportunity for college students studying/majoring in marine mammal caretaking.
You're right about me not understanding your comment, how the hell can anyone read what you have to say when your type is on part with someone in grade three? It looks like one big long sentences full of syntax errors. You don't even capitalize the start of sentences.
You're talking about competing at the preschool level? What the hell does that even mean?! Damnit man, get a hold of yourself!
if you're trying to reintroduce these animals back into the wild, maybe you should actually try putting the animal in the water...j/k also i think if you were a little less hands on with the animal you may have better results. being so physically hands on only further bonds the animal to people.
@showstoppa84 sea lions do not go into the water until they're ready, the time varies among species, therefore, just turning the animal into the water without asessment or knowledge can be counter-productive.
@RedstarNighteyes i wasn't serious when i said to put them in the water.. i do realize they are still babies, and as such they do spend a period of their time on dry land where their mothers would feed them until they are able to swim. my concern was with habituation and imprinting on people. i dont feel that bonding with wild animals helps them in anyway to return to the wild.
To all negative comments. Lets get you all together, in a boat and dump you into the sea....least that way the mammals can survive on food for some time!
To negative comments:Do you even like animals? They need help and the people in this video are trying to comunicate with them. Why do people comment on topics they dont know anything about? We have a responsebility towords animals.
As strange as it sounds supposedly the act of mimicing the behavior of certain animals has helped further research into understanding the behavior of certain species. Or so I've heard anyways.
I helped hand raise a sealion (is it pup or cub?) back in my teens when I worked at the London Zoo and I recal when trying to ween him (if that's the right spelling) he prefered the taste of human flesh to that of the fish we were trying to force down his throat!
You may not understand that these animals have been rescued - their mothers are dead and the rehab team is trying to prepare the pups for reentry into the sea. HJ
Sea lions are beautiful and extremely intelligent. In the pacific NW, fishermen are killing all of the endangered Chinook salmon, and blaming it on sea lions. Fish and Wildlife is killing sea lions to make fishermen happy. Call NW lawmakers and tell them what asses they are.
Aw, this is an awesome video! It's a special thing when animals and people can build that kind of trust and bond like that. It almost makes me wanna cry.
A Peruvian Rescue and rehabilitation team trains sea lions to reentry into the wild using unique methods. This video shows the astonishing bond that can develop between man and animal.
El taco me lo como sin problemas (si es que crees que me ofende, estás muy equivocado), ¿por qué no te callas y huyes de la migra? Ve a recoger un poco de tomates maldito.

Depending on where the animal lives the dialect will be different. Just because you are a human doesn't mean you are speaking the same lingo as all the other humans in the world ;)
Awsome...I enjoyed watching this...This is what we were created to do, to take care of the earth and its animals...I don't care what type of negative replys I get, thats my view, we were made to take care of the earth, and its not to late to save whats left.
I dunno if its just me or what but this video is nice and there is really no need for all the negative comments. They are just trying to help the animals. Not to encourage a permanent bond between man and sea lion. If you read the video info you might find this information out for yourself. Well done to these people who actually help their world not just sit around being negative all day bombarding everybody else with their negativity like some people on here.
That is just precious, it's kinda weird to think how some people can be as kind and giving as these and some can be total sick f*ckwads (ie. Harp seal hunters).
I do Marine Mammal rescue in the States...in order to survive in the wild, these animals need to be able to be wild...habituating them to humans and making them dependent on humans is not going to help that happen...I'm confused as to what is actually wrong with these sea lions...have they been abandoned by their mothers or what?
You people with your smartass responses are not as clever as you think. You look more stupid than what you think these people look by making your ignorant remarks.
What will happen when those sea lions are adult size and are approaching people? You are habituating them to people and not helping them at all to become wild...this really bothered me watching it and I feel bad for the sea lions...this is not right!
Previous I asked a simple and somewhat similar question:
""Cute video. But is it a wise way to interfeer with wild animals ?
I think not!""
I got two very unprofessional replies that shows that these people argues far from the serious issue:
Should people who do not know anything about the DAMAGE they in fact causes these lovely creachers be allowed to continue what they do - No matter how nice people they seem to be ?
This reply (2) was ment to be a reply to shotbyjr: "What will happen"
1: MrCassata replied: If their population has gone down dramatically, maybe.
2: mattheww31 replied: We interfere with wildlife everyday with pollution, deforestation, global warming and down right murder(such as the slaughtered wolves in the western US)
This is beautiful what these people are trying to do. I wish everyone had just one conviction strong enough to look stupid for a good cause.
If you are saying the issue is whether humans should interfere with the natural life cycle of an animal species, including helping it, then it is you who perhaps doesn't understand the issue. Humans have been destroying the habitats of almost every animal on this planet, not to mention trees and lakes. These people are merely trying to reverse some of the damage we have done. Please research online if you're not aware of extinct and endangered species, dying coral reefs, and the rain forest...
I am NOT talking about saving the World from humans spoiling it!
I am talking about THIS attempt "trying to save the sea lions" and nothing else. These people are NOT helping the sea lions at all, they are "in the name of humanity" doing exactly the opposite to the SEA LIONS.

this guy defines a life as...sitting in front of the pc all day because life outside is too hard. i feel for these people. maybe they need to be rescued too.
How cute, Baby sea lions! must be the babies first trip to the ocean, but not their last. hopefully! so, good luck with your orphans. may they grow up well, and adjust to their own world.
I don't understand all the stupid comments..these people are spending their lives trying to make it possible for hese creatures to live again, as opposed to y9ou guys that have nothing better to do then make fun of them
Cute, and i totally agree with november171990, it apparently someway comforts and reassures the young ones there's nothing scary about the water and the beach. Thanks for sharing this video, pretty interesting to see.
Can someone who studies sea lions please educate me on why it was needed for them to make those sounds and act the way they did. My opinion is that if is NOT hurting the animals why not. Sometimes it takes us to be silly and perhaps odd to make animals feel better and heal them. SO WHAT!!!!! For those that made comments that are vulgar and has no fact GROW UP. YOU have the right to your opinion but be intellectual. People might just actually take you seriously.

What's up with all the negative comments? The effort some people put forth to hate is amazing.
Great video showing that some people care for God's creatures.

How cute, Baby sea lions! must be the babies first trip to the ocean, but not their last. hopefully! so, good luck with your orphans. may they grow up well, and adjust to their own world.

They're sea lions not seals. And if they were harassing it, surely it would try to get away?
