@DOUGLA192 ...In my opinion - it's NOT. I have a family member (or 2) and friends who are Gay/Lesbian - and I Love and Respect them for Who they are! :-}
I bet u can get ur kids to sleep during ur vacation in african savana with this song. BUT the downside is, yourself cant get to sleep knowing most african predators hunt at night. Haha LOL.
@ImpmonX Actually, it was written in 1920, and recorded most famously by The Tokens in 1961. The Song was licensed by Disney, but there were international copyright issues, and there was a long court case that finally ended with the royalties from the song being held in a trust for the original composer's heirs. No, Disney does not OWN the song.
I ment like they played parts of this song in the Lion King on Broadway... one of the parts is in the related vids part with the kis and the green dude. >>>>>>>>
There was a Whose Line episode where Drew Carey made the accident of calling Africa a country. I believe they were playing the game "African Chant". Look it up!
jesus fucking christ Afrokitty, pull that elitist dick out of your ass. the person asked, did elton john write it, a simple no would have done, even more you could have said Solomon Linda wrote it, and Elton John just did a cover, but no you act like a prick about it. Heres a fun fact about music, people cover songs, so stop splurring out 'stolen' like these artists just went and robbed your grandmother.
Actually I do, alot of the times people borrow parts of songs, being vocal or instrumental, because they are influenced from that song or the artist of it.
Ever take that in for a thought?
No no, obviously, the guy was out for one thing, to steal this poor mans song and make millions of dollars off of it claiming it as his own.
If you actually knew some history to this song, instead of assuming since someone covered it, that means they stole it, you'd be a bit more educated. Wiki = Friend.
look i didn't want you to expalin anything for i kinda knew what you were going to say. i was just sticking up for afrokitty. that's all. sorry for the misunderstaning.
And people can change whatever they like when they write books, newspapers, other documents, etc. As well as when they report news. For all you know, the real creator of this song may not even be known, just because a book somewhere states something, or someone claims something, is no better grounds to base something factually off of than wikipedia.
Where do you get the information that Elton John wrote this song, or even the lyrics?

You're welcome young lady. I am glad I was able to help you understand the story behind this great song. So much was stolen from the Africans back then. It is great to know that justice was done and this man's family was finally paid for his song!

I think now Disney owns the song, ^_^
