the movie was great ,i intend to read the book.i was not impressed with the ending,i expected her remains to have been found also Mr.Harvey to have been killed or convicted,the scene where the grandmother came to stay and the music was upbeat didnt fit right .even the title misled me,i thought it was in reference to her remains and what the family was left with-great movie

This film has generated alot of criticism it seems but I thought it was alright. It is my least favorite Jackson film, but I dind't hate it. Some of the acting (not including Tucci or Ronan) and the CGI are kinda bad along with other things, but there were some things it did right. It kind of annoys me when a director that everyone loves makes one movie that wasn't great and they automatically turn on him. It's the Lucas treatment. It's not a great adaptation, but I saw far worse movies in 2009.

@balrog13571 Nahh. It was supposed to twist our minds. But it was really sad, and what I liked about the Direction from Peter Jackson was that it wasn't the ending we expected. Some killers live on, and sometimes we can't find out who did the murder. He kept it suspicious and surprising.

People nowadays just don't get it. I thought the acting was good though. Sairose Rohana is very pretty and not to mention Scottish xD

I give it a 10 out of 10.

I'm not saying it was a BAD film, just not a great one. I'm also saying it bothers me when some people will turn on a good director just because he made a movie that didn't live up to their expecations and make a movie exactly like the book word for word. I like it when an adaptation is mostly accurate with the source, but sometimes changes have to be made because it some scenes, themes, or styles don't work as well for a film as they do for a book.

i agree with you as well. As long as a movie follows the main points and themes of the source material and respects it I'm okay. There's flaws in some of the Marvel movies, but that's only because material is changed at times. Some actors, editors, directors, etc can screw up too.

Guy if you're planning to watch this movie, trust me it is REALLY GOOD. The trailer MAY not seems that fantastic but it REALLY is darn good. The storyline is absolutely AMAZING. Really really satisfying to watch. 9.5/10 for acting(that salmon girl really is a talented actor), 8.5 overall!

In a way, yes. If you think *Oh, my god. This HAPPENS.* Then, yes, the idea is sickening. But its not about death, It's mostly about living beyond, still living and loving. Some parts are scary, because your worried. but not gory or "Scary." Mostly emotional.

There's no distasteful rape in the film. Just murder is fine for the purposes of a cinema narrative, ignore what that guy has said the scene simply ends when the murder and rape would start to happen, and the story goes on. This scene from the book was not added to the movie as it was not nessesary the leaves this up to your own imagination of how she is murdered.

i hope they don't make it too dramatic. in the book, each character was dealing with Susie's death differently, but all of them somehow kept it inside and built walls around them. they all became rather stoic, especially Lindsey and Buck.

still looking forward to this, though! Susan Sarandon as grandma Lynn is a great choice. Ray Singh doesn't look Indian. and Mark Wahlberg's hair is just funny. but still looking forward to it. :)
