One of my all time favorite games. Buster Tillman gave the Bucks the spark they needed to get their offense started and , it looked like Terry Glenn tripped him on the play !
That crowd noise rule was ridiculous. Talk about taking away a team's home field advantage. Thank goodness the officials didn't always enforce it, and thankfully it doesn't exist anymore....in fact I didn't even recall that it was still around in '95.
This team was sooooo damn loaded. As I said in another post, "Poor Coop, ( AND POOR BUCKEYE PLAYERS & FANS!) 93,95,96& 98, what could have and should have been"!!!!!!
I dunno about winning it all in 1995. Nebraska was essentially God with a PlayStation controller. That team was most likely the greatest team in CFB history.
The other years, yeah, especially 1998. 98 definitely should have been our year!!!
The biggest thing is that the Bucks have had 15 realistic chances to at least split an NC since 68. We've won two. 68,69,70,73,74,75,79,93,95,96,98,02,03,06,& 07. We either couldn't beat scUM, win our bowl game or as in 98, MSU. That's the life of us being a Buckeye fan. I wonder if any other big time program has had as many realistic chances? Look back at these years and you'll see what I mean. How many other years durring this timeframe have we had great teams that underachieved?
More than we can count. It's very painful to see that we could have had 14 championships in the modern era of CFB (sorry, Nebraska was unbeatable in 1995. Simply the best football team ever). Especially in the 90's and the 00's. We could very well have been the team of the decade this 10 years of the 2000's.
However, I will say that we must keep persevering. We will get ours. I know it in my heart and soul. We will win through.
ourhonorfend..."going for 2...for some reason..."-This was before OT, so the Irish went for 2 to make it 35-28, with the assumption that they'd score again and go for 2 again for the win.
This game should be the poster child for why college football is the best sport in the world. Huge hype, great game, loud crowd, Keith Jackson at his best... my lord!
Look's like you have a strong hatred for thh Bucks. After losing five straight it looks like you are forced to go back to the 90's to even smell victory. That's OK man, I would be disgruntled too. But step into my shoes for a sec and imagine blowing numerous BCS bowl games in a row. In the end, I wish Michigan was better because the Bucks and Michigan were usually the only thing making the Big 10 strong. Hence why our BCS standings have been where they are.
I think trying to compare Beanie and George is like comparing Lebron and Jordan. Both good but two different kinds of players. George was way more lean and tough, but Beanie was also hurt and like you said we never got to see him all the way through. Go Bucks!! OH...
this was the first Buckeye game I ever attended, I was just 6 years old, but man this was a good way to start my Buckeye Football fanhood. I really miss this team and man was it a good one. Springs, George, Hoying, Tillman, Glenn, Stanley, Vrabel, Finkes...wow that was a team. Thanks for bringing back some great memories...
i think I'd definitely rank Beanie ahead of Eddie. I had recalled thi being Eddie's best big-game performance. And he just doesn't compare to Beanie's explosiveness and big play ability.
Whaaatttt? Did you actually watch Eddie? Beanie wasn't anywhere near Eddie's level....Eddie had more big time runs in his Heisman year than Beanie had in his career...1900+ yds in 1995 for Eddie is still by far the school record....in my lifetime, Eddie was by far the best RB for OSU...
Are you joking, Eddie was a horse. 1,926 yards and 24 TD's. Eddies durability is why he was better than Beanie. Not only his Heisman run, but then he had 7 straight 1,200+ yard season with Houston/Tenn. Beanie was always hurt, I judge by what they did not what they could have done.
It is beatings like this as to why the pussies from Notre Dame won't join the Big Ten.

Notre Dame could be good for the Big Ten...but only if Notre Dame falls out with NBC and can't get another TV deal

Isn't this the same year that Alabama went 3-0 against OSU?

Has there EVER been a more dominant offensive lineman in college football than Pace?! NOTHING could get past him.

The best thing is Regis talking shit right before Terry Glenn goes like 83 yards for a TD...that was awesome to see.....

"Going for 2... for some reason..."???
if they had made it, they would have been down by 7 points, instead of 8 with a PAT.
candidskeptic 2 years ago
that makes no sense... you go for 1 and give yourself a chance.. making it one possession there is far more important than making it 7 instead of 8.

Beanie never really lived up to what he could have been. But I think he is a better talent than Eddie George, whom we love.
The fact is Beanie's line was pathetic, a knock on Tressel.

@dowutado wish Beanie stayed for his senior year though. A healthy Beanie would have got a Heisman. Both are BEASTS!!
