Maybe you could make a railway tracks going up on a i block angle starting from were the lava is working its way up and you shout come up to about were the ladder is were u go to your libary, so that you don't have to climb up all those annoying ladders :)

Fast way to climb:

Make a 3x3 column that goes from the bottom to top of where you want the ladder to be. Also include a column for the ladders to be on. Make sure the column is EAST relative to the 3x3 column. Now, dig out 1 block in the center and 1 block towards the ladder column. Every 2 blocks you go down, dig 2 deep like the top and 1 to connect the water above it to the hole you just made. Keep doing this until you reach the bottom. Make sure it is facing EAST, really important.

In one of your bases, you should make lava pillars that have a source block on the ceiling so the lava falls down to the floor. the pillar should be 1 block or 2x2 so you can have signs/ladders to stop the flow. that way you can jump into the lava, fall through, land in water, and enter a secret room. as far as health goes, maybe a dispenser full of cooked pork?

You don't need any light for spawning slimes, it is just so that hostile mobs don't spawn while trying to kill the slimes. Also make sure you punch the slimes for their slimeballs. And last you need to be atleast 60 blocks away from the chunk to have the slimes spawn.

The same bug happened to me when I used INVedit. I'm almost positive it has something to do with infinitely durable armor. I had to delete the world save; there was no way to fix it. It's happened to CaptainSparkles before too. I would just stay away from inventory editing infinitely durable armor. just refresh it every once in a while.

The way you get up faster is via using minecarts. HOW TO: Place a piece of dirt in you 4x4 shaft. Put a piece of track on the dirt and place a minecart ontop of of it. Under the dirt place a ladder. Now place 2 pieces of glass on either side of the dirt and remove the dirt. Do this for around every 2-3 blocks of height.

*WHEN DONE CORRECTLY THE MINECART SHOULD STAND ON TOP OF THE LADDER SO YOU CAN JUST RIGHT CLICK YOUR WAY UP* there will be a down, which you can just jump down into.
