  • Is it me or does Stanley look like he's sleeping...?

  • the intro is so fucking bad ass!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SEARCH FOR SERGIO GROOVE,PEOPLE

    ANOTHER BEAST from our days

  • Good trailer!

  • "Bass its not a fish" HAHAHAHAH

  • Larry Graham was probably the first to popularize slap bass with Sly Stone in the late 60's early 70's. These three SMV are primarily jazz/fusion mostly though Clarke has often played that stomp down in it Funk were all crazy about if your born between 1955-70. Rather than try to rate them I find it much more rewarding just to enjoy them all. mrinnervisionz mentions a host of bass players all who are awesome there more the S.O.S band's bass player put on a mean show back in the day pure energy

  • @MeNdBass61NinaRoss Yeah I have no complaints about Prince,he is awesome, however, Jermaine Jackson ain't 2 shabby on bass as well, also El DeBarge plays organ, piano, synths, clavinet, drums, percussion, bass & i think at least 1 horn instrument. El is & have always been very underrated! However,in my opinion,Stevie Wonder is the GOD of All Music!

  • @mrinnervisionz I agree Stevie is the man

  • mantab cuuuyyyy,,,

  • psshhhhh whatever give me sid vicious feldly and the douche from blink 182 now that would be a bass trio..heh heh

  • S M fucking V people!

  • Three of my favorite bassists! Amazing!

  • John Entwistle anybody? He's not in the Jazz super improv league but still, he was revolutionary

  • nice

  • its not a fish!

  • You could easily think it's a market hoax, but it worked out beautiful!

  • G3 of bass

  • hot - cold

    far away - close

  • Bass guitar 5 string 3:31??? yeah marcus!!

  • where's Les Claypool,Larry Graham or Jeff Berlin ?

  • I have always wanted to put together a band of basses and maybe a drummer

  • "Bass, it's not a fish" lol

  • Comment removed

  • EL pakyu

  • what's the song called 2.32 ?

  • @tcarovic is pendulum, from this album

  • @eliasprotti thanks

  • esos son los grandes de la musica for ever has el final

  • They reason they can get away with 3 basses playing together is because Stanley Clarke plays that Piccolo Bass like a guitar

  • well isnt piccolo meant to be played that way? cuz its 1 octave higher.

  • I want the couch. Maybe if I sit on it as I practice my bass I can learn something productive.

  • Id like to hear y'all sing in trio cause your voices mesh beautifully too

  • El pequeño es el mejor, aunque miller ha tocado con el maestro Miles, Stanley tiene buen toque en el contrabajo, pero vamos a ser sinceros, a sido lo peor de la carrera de los tres, los temas parecen cosillas que practico yo...!

  • you know...i have yet to meet an uncool bass player...nearly everyone agrees(i do)that these are three extremely talented players..each with his own individual style of play...and yet they consider themselves still able to learn something from each other...humble is truly the mark of an intelligent musician..my personal fav. a guy who worked for i think 50 dollars a song..his name James Jamerson.

  • BASS, ITS NOT A FISH

  • Miller said "I took the bottom, you take the middle, you take the top." Who was he referring to?

Does Miller play on the low end? Wooten on the middle, and Clarke on the high?

  • @AznKenshin Yeah thats right.

  • i'm guessing they change it up depending on what they're feeling

  • Guera1301 - As you grow older you'll learn to appreciate musical talent when you hear it, for what it is. Listen to any of the three independent of each other (Miller's "Run For Cover" is exceptional!). Oh, and don't use cuss words if, especially if you can't spell them... ;-)

  • hey kid, just dont say anything about the video, the trio, or anything cause you dont have enough knowledge or experience to have any say. so go back to playing seven nation army on your little squier bass.

  • are you sure? if u think like that than this video is not for you brother. Go find anything else.

  • ""and you CANNOT say i just looked up a video to talk shit on.cuz i didnt,i found this..and read all the hoo-haa,so i checked it out.i dont like it,so obviously ill take my busines elsewhere.""

i stumbled onto this video,i didnt come here talking shit on purpose.

  • hahah well that because ur a kid

  • stanley a giant ... in all sense....

  • GODS like these dont need to reherse rehersal are for mortals like u and me lol

  • yea but its practice what made them perform the way they do ..practice makes perfect!

  • These guys come to shows already knowing what theyre going to play through telekinesis

  • muito bom caara!!!

  • I love that ' Smv is a force of nature'

  • definitely not a fish

  • I saw this live :D

  • If you're going to the concert WEAR DIAPERS!!

  • Man that's soooooooooo true... ;(

  • so glad that saw them at pori jazz 09 :D

  • what kind of hat is marcus wearing??

  • pork pie

  • no, i mean the one hes wearing in the interview.

  • its just another variation of the porkpie hat

  • Mashed up pork pie?

  • impresionante como tocan cualquiera de los tres!!!!

  • does anybody know if a live DVD will be coming out for this?

  • where's pete wentz??? haha jk i would stop playing bass if pete wentz got up here.

  • na he shouldn't

  • um no

hes cool and all but he doesent compare

  • they need jaco for the great quartet ;)

  • @faulbaums

Or how about Larry Graham for a quintet :)

  • @ faulbaums WHAT ABOUT LARRY GRAHAM AND LES CLAYPOOL? :(

  • Three of the best bassists. Damn.

  • I don't get why people are down-thumbing Aframe88's comment. I guess they don't know who dj q-bert is. Here's your lesson for the day class, Dj q-bert is easily one of the few Dj's in the world that would actually sound great with SMV. Don't know who q-bert is? Look on youtube, there are some good vids floating around and hopefully you'll see what we're saying. I have some old competition footage of q-bert from the eighties, it's damn sick, way ahead of his time back then, and still today.

  • clash of the titans, how cool can things get, this is a huge leap for evolution of man.

  • Saw them live.

  • all three of my favorite players.AWESOME!!!but you have to admit--VIC IS THE MAN!--nobody on this planet can touch VIC!

  • I love Victor as well, but there is no bassist living that can touch what Stanley Clarke can create on the bass. Listen to what Marcus says on this clip. I'm not sure of your age, but I've seen all of Stanley's concerts since the mid 70's when he cames to town. Your seeing an older (58) year older Stanley Clarke who is still totally amazing, but in the 80's and 90's he would absolutely isolate bass players. Hes at another place at this point in his career.

  • @arksi27 Louis Johnson,Nate East,William "BOOTSY" Collins,Marc Adams,Larry Grahm,Verdine White might have something 2 say about that, however,Wooten is hella awesome! Special mention 2 the only other person I idolize besides Stevie Wonder, "Rick James", btw Prince ain't bad at all either.

  • ok pliz veri naives pque

    estiven uander

my plis very nice too mithi odo

  • Marcus Miller.....Stanley Clarke....&Vic......all my heroes.....all truly great.

  • which alembic is stan using?

  • what kinda bass is victor using in the begining

  • It's a Fodera Victor Wooten ying-yang signature. Way expensive.

  • This group never ceases to amaze me.

There's a track on the album called 'Mongoose Walk', and Chick Corea's playing is phenomonal.

  • its not a fish:D that happend to me a few times

  • Stanley Clarke is the definition of Jazz-Rock Bass player. Fusion...RTF...Geddy Lee has no stylistic connection to these guys at all. So I guess in summation, I disagree.

  • If you listen to Geddy's songs you hear some jazz mixed with his hard rock playing althought Stanley has a more Jazzy sound and its easy to spot Geddy Lee's sound in the other hand has a more heavier tone and the jazzy sound is hard to find only on a few songs its easy to spot like for example in La Villa Strangiato.

  • nice sarcasm :D

  • very nice XD

  • Apparently not many people understand your sarcasm...

  • I'd have to agree with KRyPToNiTe1923, Jaco is an amazing bassist. I have almost all Jaco's albums and S.M.V.'s thunder, and either one of them is amazingly good, but I'd have to say that Jaco's is way more complicated and he is truly the god of the bass

  • Thunder is one of the greatest albums I've ever heard! Every bass player should own this album!

  • 5:14 HAHAHAHAHA

  • when victor talks all i hear is, bonk.. uh uh kotch.. ra doom doom scooby doo bop HEYYYYY.

  • Does Wootzilla have a bald spot...?

  • yeah a big one from the looks of it.

  • VICTOR WOOTEN SPEAKS! I WITNESSED IT!

  • wat song was that at the beginnning?

  • thunder by smv. its the title track off their album

  • these 3 are my heroes

  • They look retarded, but sound godlike.

  • OMG! Stanley Clarke, the master of the Cello, Marcus Miller and Victor? OH DAMN! The best super bass band! Gotta listen to them.

  • not a frikken cello its a double bass

  • i was just gonna say that. lol

  • Contrabass

  • Ouch. Epic fail. Stanley is perhaps the best bassist of all time.

  • Yeah, I've been a Stanley fan since 1973-74. There are many great players as you know, but Stanley is the best on the instrument. I think some players may like other styles better, but Stanley playing is surely far reaching.

  • yeah

i really like stanley because he doesnt cram as many notes with as much speed and as little feel as possible quite the opposite actually

    he is awesome

  • nonononono jaco pastorius is undistputedly THE best bassist of all time not to say that stanley isnt good he sure is fuking awesome but jaco is the epitome of bass followed in most minds by wooten

  • I truly appreciate all of what Jaco had done for the bass, but I don't think he had the same facility or ability of Stanley. I do think he presented another approach of playing, but Stanely was superior. Clarke, could play at superior levels in many different styles not to mention electric and upright basses.

  • yeah maybe jaco has been technically surpassed by a FEW in more recent times but they never had the same feel or tone tha jaco gave to his music and i doubt anyone will

  • Dont get me wrong, personally every since listening to Jaco in 1976 Ive loved his warm sound and groundbreaking approach, but Ive always thought that Stanley could do more on the bass between the two of them. Publicly, Stanley had set the bass world on fire three years before Jaco was publicly known to the world. Stanley was considered a bass prodigy and he won ever bass readers poll award numerous times over in the early days.

  • but are u talking technically or feel-wise because stanley most likely surpassed him in technical skill but couldnt touch that which jaco had and i actually think in my opinion he is the worst in this threesome as well not to say that hes bad

  • I'm speaking technically and feel wise! Are you familiar with the full range of Stanleys music and playing. He is an extremely lyrical and melodic bassist. As for SMV if you just listen to what Marcus is saying in this video clip, he himself is telling you how complex and serious Stanley playing is. After almost forty years of playing he is still technically and musically at the top...Wow.

  • well thats not so surprising as many of the great musicians of the 60's and 70's have not been technically surpassed. Wise indeed mdern day bassist yoda. no i am not too familiar with stanleys music but feel and emotion in music is so much more important than technical proficiency as music isnt just who can play the fastest, most spread out, most techniques and so on and so forth and thats why jaco takes bass crown, for the absolute quality of his music and not just just for bass enthusiasts

  • Ok, I can truly respect your personally taste in liking Jaco he would be at the top on any short list. Im not sure if youre a bass player, but check out some of Stanleys early music Children of Forever , Stanley Clarke, Journey to Love and School Days. Also, listen to all the Return to Forever stuff. As you are aware you can listen to his playing her on Youtube. A far reaching and phenomenal player!

  • You guys are all true assholes trying to make quasi-academic comparisons between immortal musicians. Who gives a fuck whether Jaco had less technique than Stanley? Neither of them could ever do what the other did best.

  • and tomorrow in Barcelona :D cant wait

  • and today in Budapest! :) 3 hours, and i'll been in heaven :)

  • today i will show them live in Athens...

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU....5 STARS!!

  • not 5 only 3 (bass *) :D:D:D:

  • lol :)

  • 3 titans indeed, this was an awesome treat!

    Thanks for posting. :-D

  • Very cool indeed!!

  • Cooool :D
