  • Thank goodness you are using the right instruments to play these tunes. To play Wakeman with anything else just doesn't sound right. I, too, have 2 Minimoogs, an RMI, and a Hammond C-3 organ. I also used to play Catherine of Aragon, plus some Triumvirat on stage, during band breaks, but many people don't recognize it, so I quit doing it. At any rate, I like your rendition!

  • @trux04 Thank you so much! Yeah, nothing else can be substitute for RMI, minimoog, Hammond organ... I really love to play Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson, Tony Banks things. How awesome you've been playing Triumvirat on stage! Wish you play nice prog things again!

  • Nicely done! Vintage rules! :-)

    Btw, nice cape! :-D

    Keep up the great work!

    Cheers from Brazil,

    Luc

  • that's effin sweeet man

  • Amazing, very good man!

    Sounds awesome.

  • @diegotartaglia Thanks a lot! I really love the sound of vintage gears.

  • anyone who puts on a cape to cover to Rick Wakeman gets my approval

  • Great!!!!!

  • Very good performance. I like your cape ;-)

  • bravissimo!!! performance identica a quelle di rick, inclusi i tic dei capelli all'indietro!

  • Very good playing!

  • That was so much fun to watch. Well done! At least your "virtual" Mellotron stays in tune. Rick on the other hand would never quite know what to expect with the originals. He hated them so much that at the end of one tour he took two out into a field and set fire to them!

  • Hello! Sounds great -- what tab settings are you using on the RMI? For this sound, I use Harp, Lute, Organ w/50% bass, but I'm not sure it sounds right...

  • Thank you so much!

I used following setting: PIANO PP/ HARPSI/ LUTE/ ORGAN MODE with 70% bass.

  • Thanks for your correspondence, much appreciated.

  • Well done! LOVE the cape -- nice touch. Cheesy, but clever. You are a true devotee, and have done a great job of replicating the sounds of Wakeman's solo, especially that terrific Minimoog sound!

  • Rick has asked if he could have his curtains back. . . . Joking aisde, a very nice cover of a classic Wakeman track

  • boy does that bring back memories.... i adored the album cover.... all i had at the time was Farfisa Professional. and had to stare at Ricks gear.... sniff. ......

  • Thanks!

The Rickenbacker 4001 is my favorite of favorites! I love to play it in Chris Squire style sound.

  • Great job rick ;)

and by the way...i love rickenbacker basses! they have a special sound i think

  • Thank you so much! I'm not satisfied with this performance, so someday I'll upload a better version.

  • hahah fantastic!! great work!!

  • THIS IS AWESOME!!!

Rick would be proud of you. I know I am.

  • Thank you so much!

But I should work out for a better play. ;)

  • One modern keyboard with 100's of pathces, split/multitimbral just does not look the same does it ;)

I have intended to buy "The Six Wives" for ages. This piece gave even more reason.

Btw. every kid in school should watch the movie"School of Rock" starring Jack Black :)

  • Vintage keyboards really rocks! They don't only look great, but also have the strong sounds! I always try new gears. But only few instruments have THE SOUND like old ones.

    >Btw. every kid in school should watch the movie"School of Rock" starring Jack Black :)

    Yes, I really agree! :)

  • Fucking awesome.

  • Thanks! I have a plan for a new version of my Henry video.

  • Hell Ya!! Dude! You even got the glitter cape goin' on too!

    Bravo!! Great Performance!

  • Thanks! But I forgot my blonde wig, ha ha...

  • WOW! Kid, how old are you? Hey, if something happens to Adam WAkeman, you should try out for Yes

  • And i could say that is the EXACT same sound...not just a sampling... of the Mellotron... incredible!

I had the chance to try one recently......its the same thing...but without the mechanical madness....

  • The Memotron is the best substitute of Mellotron. It sounds almost like real one in the loud ensemble. Great sound! Even if I had THE REAL ONE, I'd play the Memotron on stage. But I choose THE REAL ONES for recording. Mellotron's sound can't be reproduced actually even now.

  • Sugoi niteru! Just like Rick Wakeman. But where is the Melotron?

  • Thank you.

The Mellotron sounds are from the white keyboard(Manikin Electronic's Memotron) that is set the lowest.
