I think I figured it out! Infared sensor! Those shiny things on the sensor bar have infared lights in them! The black thing on the wii remote is the only thing that sees those lights! It uses any two lights as a sensor!
@psxdc64 But the sensor bar is just sending out infrared light. It si not taking in data. The wiiremote is coneckted to the wii using bluetooth thats wy it vorks :D
@2000davis171 the wii sensor bar is ONLY a couple of infrared LED lights. The cable going to the wii only supplies power to the sensor bar, it doesn't communicate with the wii AT ALL.
There is a infrared camera in the Wiimote that picks up ALL infrared light. It uses the infrared LEDs in the sensor bar to orient itself.
The candles are essentially acting as the infrared LEDs in the sensor bar, and the infrared camera in the wiimote picks up the candles.
@UchihaHemerly well aren't we the snarky one, speaking as one who knows why it works. who the hell do you think you are because most people have actual lives and don't sit around playing with toys as a substitute for a girl friend does not make them dumb, quite the opposite ad to that the unknown age of the person asking and you come off as not only a loser but also a deuchebag
Good video. Just wanted to let you know, the spacing of the IR doesn't make that much of a difference (in fact, the whole point of it is that the position is relative to two points). I upgraded to a 60" flat screen earlier this year and was having tracking problems with my Wii and Top Shot Elite light rifle. Had some IR leds in my junk box, wired 2 sets in series and placed them at the top corners of my tv... tracking restored.
Have not tryed yet cant do it without permission ( im 12 ) ( my wire got cut ) but i think if it works , it would be really good if you're going to play MKWii ( Mario Kart Wii ) Because you only need it for like ( ABOUT ) 2-4mins MAX , so im going to try it later and let you all know!!
I'll explain to those idiots who say you hacked your wii and you are fake and phoney.
Basicly the wii sensor bar has 2 led lights (maybe more im not sure) and is connected to the wii for power its like a tv remote. 2 candles just picks up the signal you people who say crap like he's fake are retards.
@TB1337TM Basically, he was saying is that the the sensor bar only acts as an infrared. It has 5(?) led lights on each side. The Wii Remote detects the lights emitted from the sensor bar to indicated where the remote is. That is the role of the candles - to act as replacement for those infrareds.
@psxdc64 the sensor bar isn't even connected to the wii as far as data goes. the wii just powers the infrared LEDs in the sensor bar, which can be replicated by candles or buying your own IR LEDs and powering them with some batteries.
no this is not hacking the wii remote uses infared rays witch the sensor bar makes but you can it because of the smooth pannel in the front but what the sensor bar does is mokes those rays to make the wii remote sence them the candals have infared rays thats why the wii remote connect to the candle
@pastrykiller Well if you don't believe this then you're incredibly stupid. The candles emit a small amount of scattered IR light which the wii remote detects just as it does with the sensor bar. It may be be perfectly the same but it shows the basis on the wii remote works, IR light.
@jrneulight Learn your shit before you say stuff, the wii mote looks for infered lights, which is all the senser bar puts out. the candles do the same thing. RESEARCH YOUR SHIT BITCH

@Rorintosh No you have to light the candles. They don't have to be too close to the TV so you wont damage it.

Just to explain for the dumb ppl.
The sensor bar is connected to the Wii for it to emit light, the wii mote detects that light and sends to the wii its position..
The candle emits light too, because fire IS an energy, so it does not need to be connected to the wii.

Is it the light or the heat that the remote is reacting to?

@ipodvi The only reason that the sensor bar is connected to the console is because it needs power to turn on the LEDs
