the guy asking the question said nothing wrong. it was all in line with scripture.Davis was just getting defensive. But the guy was emphasizing over and over that he is a sinner too. We all are. And the blood of Christ covers our sin but it is our duty, out of response of gratitude for the grace shown to us, to repent from those very sins that put Jesus on the cross. Ppl always assume its "judging" when someone stands up for truth like that. It's not. ITs Gods word. He said it.
@h3artands0uLL I think that Davis Mallory's defensiveness was also somewhat problematic when he tried to put the example of one lying more times with one having homosexual sex only a few times, as if there was a hierarchy of sins and which sin would be more serious according to degree or frequency. Sin is sin in line with the Bible's stand, and also he mis-used the idea of "judge not lest you be judged". The context of the verse is about judging someone to condemn him of sin.
Davis is a racist prick then he has the audacity to get upset because christians believe that gay people will go to hell and believes that shouldn't be an issue and that he should be excepted well that goes along with people of color.
davis is soooooooooo hot and sexy...im a woman and im so into him....it sucks so much that hes gay....if he was at least bi that would be great!!!!!!go davis...mmmmmmm such a hottie hunk
Davis has a lot of great points and i think as a gay man that people should not be so hateful and discriminatory to gay people. I know for a fact I did not choose to be the way I am, I did not choose to make my life so hard and difficult. I am happy with it, I accept it so I dont understand why others can't!
I'm glad the guy in the audience talked about 'Young Earth Creationism' at the end, because that REALLY showed what a religious nutcase he was... Davis was right to just look to someone else for the next questions - this is absolutely how religious fundamentalists need to be treated.
i cant qoute the verse i read the other day but "judging" other christians is looked at as not sinful. if they are christians we are supposed to hold them up to it as a sort of peer acountability. i don't think its wrong to be gay in itself, what i think is sinful is that you are TRYING to dodge and weave thru the bible. if you can't embrase all of it, your picking and choosing, which means you not living to be all u could and not trying to, meaning your not christian
It's funny how people twist the Bible. Some of the "commandments" in the Bible are more relevant to the times they lived in than what God wants for us. Jesus was a reformer, at least in the social sense. Wanting equal dignity for women and that being a slight contradiction to what the Bible says is different than misusing sex, which is something God gave us to be used in a specific context for a specific reason. Not to say gays are perverts, but that's the gist of the whole gay sex is bad thing.
the dude asking the question (is he even asking a question..?) is ridiculous. Davis did a great job here. I can't believe how difficult that must have been for him, it was difficult for me to hear.
agreed. homosexuality isn't even wrong, only because it is mentioned in leviticus, yet almost every christian picks and chooses which verses of leviticus(and the bible), to follow, and leave the rest of it out. It's called the "old testament" for a reason. In the new testament, jesus never said anything about homosexuality, and there is even evidence that he might be gay as well(lol).. no really.. but anyways, yeah, i agree that religion is just a way to control ppl and keep them close minded.
i believe christians the ones at my church, are fornecators, adulterers, but they feel that homosexuality is wrong well in the bible it says people who offend homosexuals, and others, and cast stones against others in hate, because of who they are will not enter the kingdom of God. and thats why the church needs help

*sigh* This arguing will go round and round forever. It is an extremely sensitive subject for some and I would advise we use Christian love if people choose to debate the issue. For those who oppose the concept of a "gay Christian", try to understand that the majority of us have experienced personal and spiritual conflict relating to the issue - approach the subject with care. To gay Christians - anger is not the answer.
I dont know why people are cheering for Davis, this is not a popularity contest. It's about God and not compromising what he wants for us. He needs to keep his mouth shut and not question God's word.

I just have to say way to go for Davis! To openly speak about being a homosexual is very, very undaunted and courageous. I'd like to be able to do that some day. WAY 2 GO!!!
My respect for Davis just went way up. He's really courageous to do this kind of speaking engagement, and I think he's pretty good at it too. Good for him!
yeah that creation instruction thing is bull. being gay isn't something you choose or can change. and really, if you aren't gay you have no right to talk about what it is to be gay.
Go to Yahoo and type in creation instruction association and click on the first one. Click on resources tab on top, and go to the homosexuality topic. I ask anyone that goes on this site, to at least spend the 15 to 20 minutes to read it and reflect. I am not asking you to agree, just read and reflect. Thank you.
ok just to let you guys out of your ignorance. being gay does not mean you have to have slept with someone of the same sex. being gay means you are attracted to the same sex. being gay is not a choice, having sex with someone is. two different things.
Do you also believe that people of different races should not have sex or marry? That's a choice too and separation of the races is in the bible. Hater.
@PistoltheGreat Actually, Darwin was very much against the idea that his ideas could be applied to human society. The ideas of Social Darwinism came after him and he did not support them.
If Homosexuality is ok, then Jesus contradicted Himself, and although hastings college's theology department teaches contradictions in the bible, they don't really support it well. They assume things, I just want an answer to my question, WHY IS IT OK TO BE A HOMOSEXUAL? Use the bible and tell me. I know what they teach at HC, I know what society teaches, but Jesus taught something completely different.
Why do we always have to use the bible to say something is okay or not? I'm a christian, I'm gay, it doesn't make me a bad person. If Jesus would send me to hell for being gay and ignoring what I mean for people and what kind of good things I do...then I'm wondering what kind of faith it is..
Remember that the bible was not written by Jesus, so don't limit yourself to it.
The reason we use the bible to address sin is because that is what GOD GAVE US TO DO IT WITH. He didn't give us society to tell us right and wrong. And you say you are a good person? Jesus is called good teacher and then replies, why do you call me good, for there is only one who is good and that is the Father. God breathed the bible. So don't think you are above it.
Did I ever say I was above it? You should read instead of preaching. I don't care how you interpret good! But don't say things I never said. You should watch this video again and mind the last comment of Davis (just before the applause). Same thing goes for you.
Try thinking for yourself for a change. God breathed the Bible huh? So that means everything in it should be followed to the letter. We should be out stoning women to death who lie about being virgins when they marry. We should be killing teens who disrespect their parents. Men should be allowed to have as many wives and slaves as they can afford to support. You must be very glad to have found Christianity, now you can hate and call it faith.
As many wives and slaves as they can support? What passage is that? Rancwr 3:4 "I really don't know what I am talking about because I argue like a 2nd grader". Or is it a couple of opinions or I mean sentences later? Faith is not hate.
LOL! Priceless, you call me a 2nd grader, yet your responses here and on your other videos, to anyone who challenges you is exactly that. LOL! Faith SHOULDN'T be hate, but in your narrow definition of Christianity, it is. Since you don't seem to know the Bible as well as you claim, do some googling on multiple wives.
So telling someone that they are wrong according to God's word we are spreading Hate. All I am going to say for the sake of saving alot of time for the both of us. God will judge us both. Keep in mind prior to this davis talked about how he had sex with a woman that was married. Sounds like Christianity. I tell you what if you would take the time to actually message me off this board and tell me what exactly you find fallable about Christianity and I will "try" to answer that.
Have you tried counselling parents who have just lost their gay son to suicide? Have you tried telling them that he knew they really loved him even when they rejected him and preached to him the way you are here? (though you knew they really didn't) If not, go volunteer with a gay teen crisis centre and get out of the classroom for a while. Maybe that will open your eyes a bit more than reading your bible and spreading hate on Youtube.
Did someone actually get where he answered the question? What about judging people? The questioner never said he was going to hell, he was saying there is a significance consequence for living in sin. Judging is the job of Jesus, shedding on light on sin is the job of followers of Jesus.
It makes you wonder if you could have a civil discussion with Davis without being rudely interrupted. No wonder he's on MTV. With that attitude it's a wonder people even aproach him to disagree. He won't even listen to them.
Davis is the rude one here. He kept interrupting the questioner. The guy couldn't even finish his sentence without Davis interrupting. And every time the guy tried to talk again Davis would change the subject. The guy wasn't even attacking Davis and immediately Davis gets defensive.
Homossexuality is not a SIN, homossexuals can be sinful, heterossexuality is not a SIN, heterossexuals can be sinful. We all are sinners, some are redeemed sinners, some are not redeemed sinners! Be renewed in God's love.Anyone who seeks the Lord, shall find HIm!
No...we won't agree on this. Because although I think the Bible is true...how can we truly interpret the true words of God? He lives thousands of years ago when the words that we read today have so many different meanings. How about you do some research of your own...go out and talk to a biblical scholar (straight or gay) and have a good intellectual discussion. Maybe they can open your eyes and mind to a little more knowledge...rather than bigotry.
Just to let you know I would fall into that Scholar category. I am a ministry major. If I am a bigot so is Jesus. He used a word called porneo (Greek) to describe sexual immorality. That word describes sex outside marriage. Last time I checked homosexuality wasn't and isn't legal, therefore they are breaking the command of Jesus. Do some Greek study, or let us scholars do it. Thanks
Scholar huh? Interesting. A ministry major? Good luck with that. And I am not going to get into a debate with someone who I don't know...especially on YouTube. And against someone who, obviously, doesn't know the other side of the argument. A true scholar is one who has looked at both sides and if you would go out and talk to gay men and women, Christian and non-Christian, and really listen, with an open-mind, maybe you would realize that all you are teaching is hate...not love.
I won't ever believe that your God is hateful and created you Gay, you chose to have intercourse with another male. That is a choice, I have the choice to sin, and I will held accountable for it, you just blame God for it. FYI I have a gay cousin, and I love him, it doesn't mean he is right or going to heaven.
I can't believe that you can call yourself a Christian and believe that God's Words may not be true! If you go with the argument that the Bible was written thousands of years ago and that our words have different meanings, then what hope do we have?
With your argument one could say that God really doesn't love us and that Christ really didn't die for us. If you say that you "think" the Bible is true. Then you are also saying that you "think" Christ died for you and that you "think" there is even a heaven. How do you witness to someone when all you can say is I think?!!!
Followers of Jesus should actually do what they claim. Accepting and loving all and knowing in their hearts that anyone can be saved, anyone, even people that are born gay. They won't change 'cause that's who they are, created by God. Gay and Saved!
support that biblically. You can only be saved by being born again. We aren't called to accept everyone. That isn't loving them. That is like saying well my kid burns their hand on the stove, and instead of telling him not to I just ignored him because he was born that way
I was once in that category. Pure legalism, today I give jesus to all men and women. There are many things that I can support using the Bible. I won't begin here because there's no need. There will be a day that you will see how many christians held wrong dogmas. In the mean time I pray for you and other s who don't understand.
I was here and asked a question...but I just wanted to know how Davis and Jen were after their fight on the episode that week...And Davis is the man, this guy just wanted to hear his own voice.
he does more public speaking than davis, I am sure that he didn't do it to hear his own voice but to represent truth. Is that ok for a Christian to do?
The guy who asked those questions is also a scholar. A nationally known scholar on Creation. So once again, you are losing the scholar battle. He is also one of my best friends, and I watched the clip so I saw the same thing as you did. Your arguement is as good as, well since we didn't actually see the cross, we don't know anything about it. Truth in your opinion is bigotry and ignorance. Just to let you know
No...I was there at the speech. I saw much more than you did...especially the part where Mr. Young was pretty much told to shut up by 1/3 of the HC campus because it just goes to show that the youth of America is tired of hearing ignorance and bigotry. And a bigot is one who is not open to both sides of the argument. I am a gay man and a Christian. I have heard both sides and am open to a good scholarly debate. Not the type of debate you are presenting.
what are you open to? then? One that supports you? That is fine that 1/3 of HC students told him to shut up. Remember the whole city of Jerusalem killed THEIR king. Religion isn't about what you want, it is about what God wants. Debate that? How is it bigotry and ignorance? And I still want an answer on the greek word?
I just want a reply? Anyone? Please inform me why it is OK to be a homosexual Christian. Use the Bible. Christ calls us to give up everything and He will give us a new life, we become a new creation. So if you can't renounce homosexuality, you can't be His Disciple. "So everyone of you who doesn't renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple" Jesus Luke 14:33
Read Father Don Hanway's book titled: "A Theology of Gay & Lesbian Inclusion: Love Letters to the Church" He is a, straight, retired minister who has done years of research after being anti-gay for years. There are also LOTS of books out there...just go find them. And I will 100% admit, I am not a biblical scholar. But with God and with my Christian friends, one day I will be able to argue with people like you.
How can you answer a question that results in "you should feel bad for being gay". All the guy was trying to do is lecture him on religious issues. He got served :)
He didn't "get served". Davis is the coward that wouldn't answer ANY of his questions. Sounds like the scheme of things when you don't have answers isn't that what you would call "got served". So according to Davis' dodging the question like a politician he got served, not the other guy. And for your information Davis was there to lecture on religious issues, so he was doing the same.
Tell me: What was the question? "How can you not feel guilty for being gay?" How would he be able to answer that question?! How can a person not feel guilty. Tell me: How can you not feel guilty for something that is normal to you? It's the same as: "how can you not feel guilty for working?" You can't answer those questions. And yes, he "got served"
how can a Christian justify living in sin? That was his first questions. Never answers the question. Listen to the reply. Never Got served. This is what us preachers call the red herring. It is a distraction. He asked a question to fill that question. He is a stinking coward that answered no question. He didn't get served. Typically the one that answers gets served

Thanks

It isn't legal in the marriage sense.

And I will NEVER believe that my God is a hateful God who created me a gay man just to torture me.
kbob4jesus 4 years ago
I won't ever believe that your God is hateful and created you Gay, you chose to have intercourse with another male. That is a choice, I have the choice to sin, and I will held accountable for it, you just blame God for it. FYI I have a gay cousin, and I love him, it doesn't mean he is right or going to heaven.

I can't believe that you can call yourself a Christian and believe that God's Words may not be true! If you go with the argument that the Bible was written thousands of years ago and that our words have different meanings, then what hope do we have?
ThroughChristAlone 4 years ago
With your argument one could say that God really doesn't love us and that Christ really didn't die for us. If you say that you "think" the Bible is true. Then you are also saying that you "think" Christ died for you and that you "think" there is even a heaven. How do you witness to someone when all you can say is I think?!!!
ThroughChristAlone 4 years ago
Followers of Jesus should actually do what they claim. Accepting and loving all and knowing in their hearts that anyone can be saved, anyone, even people that are born gay. They won't change 'cause that's who they are, created by God. Gay and Saved!
AdautoMedeiros 4 years ago
support that biblically. You can only be saved by being born again. We aren't called to accept everyone. That isn't loving them. That is like saying well my kid burns their hand on the stove, and instead of telling him not to I just ignored him because he was born that way
zbrueningsen 4 years ago
I was once in that category. Pure legalism, today I give jesus to all men and women. There are many things that I can support using the Bible. I won't begin here because there's no need. There will be a day that you will see how many christians held wrong dogmas. In the mean time I pray for you and other s who don't understand.

The rude guy that wouldn't shut up that is...

I was here and asked a question...but I just wanted to know how Davis and Jen were after their fight on the episode that week...And Davis is the man, this guy just wanted to hear his own voice.
gwillsie 4 years ago
he does more public speaking than davis, I am sure that he didn't do it to hear his own voice but to represent truth. Is that ok for a Christian to do?
zbrueningsen 4 years ago
Represent truth?? HA! I was there...were you? Obviously not...because he was representing bigotry and ignorance...not truth.
kbob4jesus 4 years ago
The guy who asked those questions is also a scholar. A nationally known scholar on Creation. So once again, you are losing the scholar battle. He is also one of my best friends, and I watched the clip so I saw the same thing as you did. Your arguement is as good as, well since we didn't actually see the cross, we don't know anything about it. Truth in your opinion is bigotry and ignorance. Just to let you know
zbrueningsen 4 years ago
No...I was there at the speech. I saw much more than you did...especially the part where Mr. Young was pretty much told to shut up by 1/3 of the HC campus because it just goes to show that the youth of America is tired of hearing ignorance and bigotry. And a bigot is one who is not open to both sides of the argument. I am a gay man and a Christian. I have heard both sides and am open to a good scholarly debate. Not the type of debate you are presenting.
kbob4jesus 4 years ago
what are you open to? then? One that supports you? That is fine that 1/3 of HC students told him to shut up. Remember the whole city of Jerusalem killed THEIR king. Religion isn't about what you want, it is about what God wants. Debate that? How is it bigotry and ignorance? And I still want an answer on the greek word?
zbrueningsen 4 years ago

But with God and with my Christian friends, one day I will be able to argue with people like you.
kbob4jesus 4 years ago
Porneo? Argue with what Jesus and Paul said first. I am not representing my own opinion here.
zbrueningsen 4 years ago
It is funny how you call Brian, Mr. Young. You must have had some interaction with him in the past
zbrueningsen 4 years ago
lol, davis is freakin awesome
krayziazndragon 4 years ago
Damn, the question guy got served
CubicXL 4 years ago
how did he get served? by davis cutting him off and changing the subject and never answering the question?
zbrueningsen 4 years ago
How can you answer a question that results in "you should feel bad for being gay". All the guy was trying to do is lecture him on religious issues. He got served :)
CubicXL 4 years ago
He didn't "get served". Davis is the coward that wouldn't answer ANY of his questions. Sounds like the scheme of things when you don't have answers isn't that what you would call "got served". So according to Davis' dodging the question like a politician he got served, not the other guy. And for your information Davis was there to lecture on religious issues, so he was doing the same.
zbrueningsen 4 years ago
Tell me: What was the question? "How can you not feel guilty for being gay?" How would he be able to answer that question?! How can a person not feel guilty. Tell me: How can you not feel guilty for something that is normal to you? It's the same as: "how can you not feel guilty for working?" You can't answer those questions. And yes, he "got served"
CubicXL 4 years ago
how can a Christian justify living in sin? That was his first questions. Never answers the question. Listen to the reply. Never Got served. This is what us preachers call the red herring. It is a distraction. He asked a question to fill that question. He is a stinking coward that answered no question. He didn't get served. Typically the one that answers gets served
