  • Playing and sounding like that, the bass knocks the regular electric guitar into a cocked hat. This is a mans instrument and no mistake. Kick ass!!!!!!

  • In your opinion, does the Tony Franklin is a good fretless bass !? I'm asking it 'cause there's not that much review / comments / videos on it over the web !

It has pretty much all the caracteristic I'm looking for...but no F&$*@ store have it in stock ! :S

    Thanks !

BTW : Great compos and great sound ! :D

  • Fretless Bass Blasphemy.A PICK on a fretless!Thats like making a trumpet sound like guitar. The pick destroys the characteristic sound that most play it for.Defeats the purpose.

  • @gebass6

    A. Fretless is all about the LEFT hand.

    B. The guy's got a style. Can't put a man down for that. @fretlessfizz : Kudos. Keep up the cool playing!

  • @gebass6 "that most play it for", you said it yourself. Not everyone plays it for the same reason. Besides, the purpose is what the musician wants it to be - nothing more.

  • Top stuff. Thanks for posting.

  • awesome!

  • is it destorsion?? do you uss boss for that?? If yes can you tell me the name of your sound pleas^^

  • You're the only person I can watch that plays the fretless bass, the reason being is because you play it the right way and no I'm not talking about b/c you use distortion or a pick. What I'm talking about is your fretting hand, you let the fretless attribute about your bass speak for itself and you don't don't overemphasize the fretlessness by sliding up down your fretboard like every single time you play a note, it's refreshing man, keep it up!

  • good groove, but i dont see the need for a fretless here

  • @GoodOldDeathMetal i guess if he's a fretless player, all his grooves are gonna be with a fretless. killer stuff, man.

  • hell yeah, awesome groove

    much respect!

    ~lox

  • lol 2:20. You're awesome man, keep it up!!

  • was it hard to 1st learn a fretless?

  • Pretty sweet sound, nice.

  • do you have a tab for this, or could you make a tab for it please? thanks

  • is that a tony franklin precision?! Oo

  • great! you would'nt happen to be the bass player from The Atomic Bitchwax would you? i'm considering going fretless. my biggest concern was that i wouldn't be heavy any more. thanks for squashing any fears

  • Haaa.... no that isn't Chris Kosnik.

But this riff has that same sort of feel to it...

    The Atomic Bitchwax RULE!

  • a very simple playing style, but you have a great tone and very catchy riffs, which is ultimately more important

  • ffs ur fkin awesome

    nice improvisin

  • "FANTASTIC" Bass Lines ! ! ! =0O

  • u gotz a real good groove

  • 20 OF 10!!!!! IMPRESSIVE!!!!

great tune... it's your own stuff?

the OKKO Basstard is similar to other pedals? like a Big Muff or fuzz Face? (sorry, no OKKO in Argentina)

  • The main thing is: Good Sound! And it sounds great!

  • @PIeq3 second

  • hey man this riff is absolutely sick =P do you mind if our band uses this and maybe your rock slap riff in a couple songs??

  • i would hope he would mind...write your own stuff...it'll mean more to you if YOU write something awesome!!

  • then that deep mark where the finish on my rosewood fingerboard rubbed off might say a lot for my basses then. :P and the fact that finish is so faded...

  • i dont lick pick on the bass !!!

  • it was better with a bit of octave pedal.. try it man.. btw very cool.. :)

  • Ok ... guess I better start gouging up my mint instruments ... lol ... I think not... haha ... :) People without scars aren't real people either! :P I see your point though.

  • I usually hate pick and distortion stuff on the bass but this groove was great!

  • that is a goddamn power groove and half

  • great playing ... nice and heavy ... wow that tony franklin sounds great too ... so you changed the stock pickups to dimarzio ... hmmm ... didn't like Tony's ?? haha You're using rw's on this bass ... ? Do they cut into the ebony at all?

  • round wounds always cut into everything

    so yes

  • yeah, guess you're right ... they do ... I have an sr1200 fretless with a composite board and they don't seem to do much to that though ... just visual stuff, still feels smooth ...

  • nice sound!

    awesome performance!

  • Nice improvs Fred, very clean. Also makes a good demo fo the bass itself. The fretless slap vid is quite original, never really see anyone do that, think the closest I got to a fretless fender was a Mex jazz bass. Kinda hard to slap because of the high action. Thanx for post these vids, pretty sure this'll be my next bass.

  • Had my eye on that fender, wound up with the jaguar in hot rod red, Guess it's the painted headstock that got me. But I did the same thing as to replace the stock tuners with black Hipshots and an extender key on the E string. Wish I got the precision first...love the fretless!!! What's with Fender lately, they have to put those cheesy fret lines on fretless basses? Think that's one of the other reasons why I like the TF model more than the stock fretless.

  • Very good man!

Where you get the drum tracks?

    Cheers!

  • yea that was fun

  • ok i was either gonna buy an AV '57 Pbass, or an AV '75 Jbass, but this is making me rethink that decision! does anyone know where the tony franklin model is made? (i.e. usa, mexico, japan, etc...)

  • all or most modern usa models have the truss rod adjuster hole in the pickguard side of the neck, where the jap and mex models have still have it traditionally at the headstock side.

  • fretless r soo much better... the slides and hammerons r just smooth all the way YEH YEH!

  • Amazing as usual!

That's how I wanna soun on my band. I'm having a bass defretted to have this tone!

    thanks!

  • dont forget to fill the cracks with glue or the neck will bend with the string tension because theres not something to support the stress and we dont want that now do we

  • get itproffesionally defretted or even better

    buy a fretless froma shop

  • In fact my luthier is setting up a new fingerboard ;)

  • ah sweet

  • i love that tone it sounds groovy but that crunch effect makes it sound dark and gloomy like a somekinda black sabbath song.lol awsome playing man

  • Distorted fretless sounds fooking SWEET!!

  • sounds fucking amazing. I plan on making one of my basses fretless...cause Im too fucking poor to buy a fretless, but the local music shop by me has a BEAUTIFUL fretless Fender, that Ive been wanting for a long time....but I dont have 1-2grand lol

  • they make Standard (MIM) Fretless J-basses for under 500. maybe Pbasses too, I don't know

  • i dont like distorted basses much, and i actually think that bass is one ugly thing, but even then you threw out pretty cool things ;)

  • A Tony Franklin Fretless Precision , I want one of those! =P

  • SICK man!! i love your style!! +5

  • wie immer klasse

    rockt

  • Sweet :) I don't dig the improvisation that much, but I guess that's a matter of taste...but the theme is rock solid! Sounds great

  • Love the tone!

  • Is that the Sunn 300T again? Shit I like that sound!!!
