  • Is the original Zildjian cymbal company still in Istanbul?

As a former drummer, I would have LOVED a tour of the place!!

    13:20 Nice. ; D

  • omg.... 3:21 that guy stole my sweater

  • @TheOnetimeatbandcamp ha ha nice one made me look..... for a split second I thought.... naaaaa its a street light suspended from cables stretched across the street. Just popped into the top frame.........

  • Hi :) cool vide I hope later Ill make vide as cool.:)

  • Wonderful stuff on Istanbul, toddatron. Would love to go someday. All we have here in Kamakura is the Turkish bar. Hey, I don't want to interrupt your trip, but I've got something to ask you. Do you moonlight or do electrical work on the side? I feel bad about asking this in light of the disaster in the northeast where your services are needed more. I've been following your home improvement videos and like them. My fam & I just bought a fixer-upper. Need help & or pointers. Thanks much.

  • 300 liras for spices! woah..how much did you buy? cuz it sounds expensive...almost $200 for spices..that sound crazy to me...spices are so much cheaper in India...and wow, turkish food looks amazing! u're making me wanna abandon my cuba trip(that i've planned with my cousin) for turkey instead

  • @heomak dude u wrong... $200 dollar mean almost 360 lira atm... not 300lira

  • great video can't wait till the next 1:) I learned a lot about places that I may never probly will be going to.

  • I'm disappointed, I didn't get email from YT saying that this one was uploaded =( I wondered if you finished this yet, glad I came over to see, this is truly an amazing and awesome series you have done! Thanks man.. more to come?

  • Did you have any trouble at customs with those spices?

  • @SuperTechieJ Nope ... no one checked me......and I brought a dried sausage. I think dried meat and stuff like that is o.k.... not sure......I heard of people having trouble with large quantities of spices... why large quantities ????? beats me...........whatever I got it home and I am using the spices and WOW they are awesome :)

  • 3:17, theres a book for sale called "Maus", I had to read that here in america for freshman year english. Its funny how obscure books find their way to other countries

  • おパイ Man! I wish I was rich, I would pay you to go to Egypt to make videos. Wait, I guess If I was rich I'd just go myself... Eh, I'd take you along as well. Those light fixtures in your opener and at some of the shops are awesome! I'd totally bring some back as well... Wow, the shop guys arnt near as aggressive as my friend made em out to be. Or perhaps where he was just was bad for that. I hear they really harass you to no end.

Great food! Man, you know how to live it up!

  • you remind me of Anthony Bourdain in these videos.

  • Awesome adventure dude. When you were doing your shopping it sounded like haggling was a bit of necessity. I've worked in retail for 12 years in the states and I hate it when somebody tries to haggle with me over a price, I don't know how well I'd do in Turkey when it comes to shopping! Was there a learning curve or do you just offer 20 on 30 and go from there?

Also: The way you split open that dumpling thing was almost pornographic. The food looks amazing.

  • @xdfgf Yea after shooting the dumpling I was like ummmm naaaa but you said it! Heh! As for haggling.... Turkey or at least the areas in question, the markets are priced astronomically for tourists so you are expected to haggle. I saw people haggle prices down 50% on certain items like carpets and hand bags. I bought some light fixtures for the future renovations here and started at 600TL and ended up at 450TL for two nice hand blown glass fixtures. Being in Japan I lost some haggle skills.

  • Damn thats alot of spices :D And all that food made me hungry.....

  • That Les Paul, a kebab, a wooden keg of beer & I'd be one happy shopper : D

  • sorry to say this but i don't think you've "seen" enough of istanbul. there are a lot more places to visit like haydarpasa train station:google haydarpasa and check out the images , princes' islands (on which there is no motor vehicles allowed and only means of transportation are carriages and bicycles), maiden's tower, topkapı palace, dolmabahce palace, cıragan palace, miniaturk istanbul(aminiature park ), istanbul toy museum and a lot more.you'll see when you google istanbul city guide.

  • @alpgedik1989 First time ever had 5 days.................. I did just fine with no real plan and hit the streets filming. Maybe next time you give me a tour.

  • @toddatron i'd be happy to help you plan your next visit to istanbul. and if i can take a day off frm work i'd do my best to take you to places that you didn't have time to visit..

  • Nice man, I know you had a great time, and a excellent choice for vacation. Cheers and keep on Youtubing your adventures

  • Who knew Istanbul was so cool?

  • great video =)=)

  • You know of course, that you are expected to haggle over prices in Turkey. That is why they have the price that they have listed. So that ignorant tourists provide profits that aren't made by those that do know how to shop. The food looks so good! Its because so many different cultures met and added their foods and cooking styles that is now Turkish Cuisine.

  • @TubaBuddha Yea spices started at 450TL ended up at 300TL and a free table spoon of saffron on top. The grand bazaar seemed like a sham to me and the real deals were out in the streets at the perspective market area. Just my 5 day expertise or say two cents as a newbie.

  • o my god!! i'm so hungry lookin at Todd eat that huge meal..

  • very nice. food looked delicious!

  • what? you didn't bring me back a gift basket lol

  • @MrJujinko I ate it on the plane.

  • @toddatron spoken like a true American with an appetite I enjoy the vids bro keep up the good work. The izakaya tours were very good made me almost buy a plane ticket but I forgot I don't fly lol.

  • How much is the saffron going for? The high quality Iranian stuff was going for $130 an ounce last time I looked.

  • @LordBalto Yea that sounds right.... Just a table spoon of the good stuff was 20TL or so.....

  • Wow, the spice bazaar looked out of this world. Seeing you walk around that city reminds me of Aladdin, lol, different countries but... XD

  • 10:55 what exactly was he trying to show you?

  • @printers It was a spice blend for salad then after it was saffron in the cup of water.

  • 6:09 swastika

have no clue what the sign says.

  • @printers:

As far as i'm able to comprehend from a video still; I think it's an advertisement board for the NSDAP (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei). It roughly translates to "This is the nsdap speaking. Fellow men! If you require any help, ask the nsdap" And then some free space for announcements... @Tod: again; nice vid. It made me hungry again, just after dinner.

  • @mambonummer5 Interesting juxtaposition, right behind the Witch Soap.

  • 4:14 LOL "i gotta get one of those."

  • guns at 2:05

  • well, I had my dinner....Now I'm hungry again. All I have is chocolate..Off to the combini for me, but somehow daily yamazaki sandwiches will have to do.

  • dude you gotta go to one of the soccer game of either fernerbahce, besiktas or galatasaray; istanbul's three greatest clubs. i heard attending one of these games is a life experience.

  • What, a fascinating city Istanbul is!

Great videos - thanks for sharing.
