slow... first Alienware is just fail and overpriced. Second when you have 6 SSDs in raid 0 there is no such thing as boot time. My 1.5 year old W7 install without any of the tweaks mentioned in the thread boots in less than one second using boot timer. this is also with 700GB used out of the total 1TB avail.

Are you using quickboot ? And is the System totaly shut down or runs it in standby or something ? Anyway, nice boot time.

no extra software just Windows and that utility that calculates the boot time. System just reboots, no standby or shutdown

@stamatisx SSD Stands for Solid Station Driver ( If I am not mistaking?) But yes when you have it, you have nearly instant startup. There's not much space on it but, anything you put on it goes pretty much instant.

Compare the maxed out Alienware M14x to the Macbook Pro (no solid state drives in either), and see for yourself which is really better. The Alienware wins with better overall hardware for $600 less. It has a 3GB graphics card, while the Macbook Pro has a 1GB or 2GB graphics card(can't recall). I know comparing a gaming laptop to a work laptop isn't fair, but you get more for less with Alienware, so the only real reason you'd get a Macbook Pro is because you like the look, and/or OS better.

My gaming laptop is just a bout one of the best you can get. It has an intel 510 series 120GB main SSD and it boots in just under 14 seconds!!! And this mofo does it in 5!! I think it's because its in safe mode...
