In addition to my previous comment, some bi/multiracial people may attempt to ignore their other race because certain races come with disadvantages. Someone who is white and hispanic may claim their white-ness over their hispanic-ness because the doors to success are easier to get to if you are white as opposed to hispanic. Their physical characteristics allow them to "pass" for one while they ignore the other. Im 1/8 white 7/8 black. if it were opposite, some of my struggles wouldn't exist.
jaylove is so annoying...i was done with him wen he made a video stating light skinned blacks have the same mentality as whites. he doesn't base any of his opinions on actual facts or sociological studies for him to be acting as the youtube pro on black issues.
you did a great job of explaining this! but we know only mixed race ppl can truly understand. but maybe with explanations like this will help some of us mixed ppl feel more comfortable being proud of who we are 100%.
You are really really generalizing. Not every black person wants you to identify as black just coz you're mixed. In fact most black people wont see you as black and some might actually even discriminate against you.
Timeout for learning moment... it seems our president Mr. Obama is not the first black president after all. Thanks to lots of further investigation using various tools like DNA. A historical organization connected to Harvard University. Through research has discovered that the first black president of America was likely Abraham Lincoln... as it turns out his mother had a longtime affair with one of her favorite Mandingo slaves. ALL research points to this reality, truth is stranger than fiction.
Half-breed would be the most correct, even if it is more politically incorrect because it does describe the process by which you came about. The best term might be mixed-heritage... it doesn't include the FALLACY of the concept of RACE, it does imply interbreeding of people of more than one heritage.
"WHITE PEOPLE are only 20% of the worlds population."
My children are mixed. Black and white. I am not proud to say it, but they PREFER the black race. Except for our family and friends that our white, they just don't want to have anything to do with white culture. .
Black peoples' disapproval of biracial individuals' choice to identify with more than one race stems exclusively from self-hate. If someone is comfortable in being Black, they aren't concerned with you identifying with your other race of origin. It is only when individuals see that race as something that dilutes your "inferior" blackness, that they are concerned with you identifying only with your Black side... Simply put, misery loves company. So, "if I aint shit, you aint shit either."
@denashanicole Glad u do. The reality is that, adhering to the criteria of the social construct of race, "biracial" people undoubtedly constitute a separate race. Aside from sharing a unique socio-cultural experience (u are discussing part of it), we share phenotypic traits that distinguish us from any other racial group. When you have to question "what someone is mixed with", like The Rock, Drake, Obama, Halle, Alicia, Rosario etc. it is implicit that they do not look "Black".
@iramas1@denashanicole wrong. that is a terrible insight. infact, the only insight found in that statement is obviosuly both of y'all basically racist sentiment.
"if I aint shit, you aint shit either."? Dont get too ahead of yourself. It is only in the U.S that Biracial are considered black. Nobody is trying to hold Biracials back
@denashanicole@iramas1 Nowhere else in the World are they grouped the same. And that is because (as you know) of the Slavery and One drop Rule, imposed by White people, not Black.
1) Biracials are still seen as black by WHITE AMERICAN ESTABLISHMENT as having the tainted black blood, and thus Black e.g cops
2) Biracials who choose to Identify as Black because to gain or attachment to Black people (education and college places, to casting in the Entertainment industry, and to Politics with Barack Obama, Colin Powell and several others) and this is FACT.
@AllieEmet if you actually read and understood my comments. I explained the "who and why" in the both the past and today.
but its whatever. As I stated earlier the easiest option for you to stop feeling the way you do is to stop associating with black people, including the black side of your family, which you supposedly care about. thanks
@00tuoyo Actually, you did not explain why it was originally implemented, but rather "why it still persists." In either case, you are incorrect. The rule has nothing to do with whites not "accepting" biracials or their "tainted black blood." Peace
1) i'm pretty sure i did (atleast three time, actually)...
2) really, thats not the reason?..i guess all that multiple account, exhaustively researched, widely accepted history has been wrong the whole time. *shrugs*
@AllieEmet Even though most Black people do not consider Biracials to be black, they are known to accepting them (ask biracial kids how both sides of their families treat or used to treat them and their parents), as opposed to being angry racial Purists.
What you are Ironically doing is Twisting that Fact and Reasons to justify your own Issues. Its Sad. Since, it hurts you so much. Please, I advise you to stop hanging out or associating with Black people. Peace
@denashanicole@iramas1 Thus, Biracial People linked with Blacks. From the first Nurtured by their Black Mothers after Children abandoned and sold as Slaves by their White Fathers, till Today where they are accepted into Black Society and happily use it to their Advantage from education and college places, to casting in the Entertainment industry, and to Politics with Barack Obama, Colin Powell and several others
@denashanicole@iramas1 Obvisouly Biracial people are not Black, and shouldn't be classes as such. But you are blaming the Wrong People.
You should be GRATEFUL to Blacks because Biracial are the ones who actually gain from Claiming Black (with historical disowning by white people) and not the Other way Round.
p.s I guarantee that the Majority of Biracial people would find it far more Upsetting (from personal experience) if you tell them they are not Black (which is true)
@denashanicole@iramas1 p.s if you would like be in an environment that mixed race people (called coloured) are not only unaccepted by blacks (for their own historical reasons), but actually loathed, consider moving of visiting south africa.
you might like it....either way, please, you should probably stay away from black people, it would be much better for you.
DNA more similar than cheetahs? Sorry, bad example. Cheetahs are so closely related that we can do tissue or organ transplants on them and there is no risk of rejection.
I want all white nations to do what Adomf Hitler did and sterilize and deport all bi-racials, the Nazis did this to keep Germany racially pure, I believe every white person who wishes to preserve their white nation to do as the Nazis did, and yes I am white
So-called white people do not share a common genetic heritage. They come from different lineages that pass from Africa to Asia. The same mixing can be said for all non-African populations.
Whites are only 20% of the world population and due to their recessive genes will soon no longer exist anywhere on this planet.
The first thing you'll notice is no more blond or red heads.
SCIENTIFIC FACT: AFRICA IS THE CRADLE OF CIVILIZATION.THE OLDEST BONES TO BE DISCOVERED WERE OF AFRICAN ORIGIN.PLEASE! DO YOUR RESEARCH PEOPLE.SO WE ALL HAVE AFRICAN ANCESTORS AND BLOOD. THERE IS BUT 1 HUMAN RACE AND IT'S SUB- RACES.OUT OF 1 CAME MANY! AFRICANS MIGRATED OUT OF AFRICA TO POPULATE THE EARTH.THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF ALL CONTINENTS.YOU FIND AFRICANS ANYWHERE YOU GO.HOW DID THEY GET THERE/ HOW LONG HAVE THEY BEEN THERE? CHECK IT OUT!!! PEACE!
i feel like you are saying the exact same thing as me, yet a lot of people that i had to block that were being unreasonable are agree with you. maybe i am just crazy.
You are so right. There is a struggle and I hear about it all the time and parents need to start thinking about the outcome before they make a mixed kid. Don't just think about what your kids is going to look like with brown skin and Asian eyes, or light skin and with curly hair. Go beyond the looks, and think about how life will be for someone who doesn't fit in, who has to go through life looking a certain way and having people shun them or make fun of them or omit them. This is a real issue!
Please, get over yoursef. in african mix race will never be seen as black. i will never think that biracial/mix race people are black. They are not black. obama is not black. i dont care whether or not mix race people identify as black, they are not. Considering what obama is doing in Africa, and how he has help to kill thousands of my ethnic black group in libya, i will never look at a biracial person as black. Obama is not the first black president
Really? If I was black I would say I was black, If I was white I would say I was white! Since Im both, Im going to say that Im both, because thats who I am. Just because your unhappy with yourself, doesn't give you the right to talk to anyone that way! Quit being a Bitch, lokhryu
Im Multiracial! My mom is white, my dad is black and puerto rican! I have more African features than white, but who cares! And I agree with Nosimpin 1 Its America, no matter what, the country will always be filled with a variety of beautiful, smart, different people! Get the fuck over it.
as a rule, white, asian, arabs, indians, and white hispanic will never accept a person with mixed blood of black people and their particular race as a full human being or give them equal status in their society or culture. therein lies the problem. guess what, black people will, so why not be black? why reject the one race that will accept you? and all black people just about are well aware of their mixed heritage. however, we are still black , and we procreated all the other races.
Biracials are nothing. They are nothing more sadistic crazy and only give a fuck about themselves the black liberation movement do not half breeds into our organization and also we do allow biracials into our churches
Also, I agree with Celena332, blacks try to use past racism as a reason that bi/multiracials should feel hatred, contempt, or dissociate from our European heritage.
Well said. I do think that the tension between blacks and bi/multiracial people who are black/white is different than that of someone who has two ethnic parents and non-white ancestry.
@denashanicole I disagree, What some people need to comprehend is that Africa is a vast and large continent with over 55 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES WITH DIFFERENT CULTURES JUST AS AMERICA DIFFERS FROM THE UK, so no it would be a sub-culture as there are many different cultures in the world which are amongst these groups called "BLACK" and "WHITE" which I'm sure you would understand because you wouldn't group your Father as red! you're suggesting that every person of African origin is culturally
@jennyjones0 I'm not suggesting anything. If I am not mistaken I stated in my other videos that for the sake of simplicity (and due to my limited knowledge and experience in other countries) when I speak about race, i am talking about it as it affects ME in the US.
@TheStarGardian I speak according to common discourse... Race may not exist biologically, but it definitely does exist socially and economically. Just because it is a "fallacy" does not take away from the effects it has on our society and many others.
@TheStarGardian I am aware of the African roots of Mexico, however that African lineage is very concentrated in a specific area (of the coats of Vera Cruz). There are many Mexicans, like my father, who have french and Spanish heritage as well. The FACT is race is a social construct that has no foundation in science, therefor i can define race how ever I see fit. It's harder to define the race of Latinos because the history is so rich and the heritage s very mixed. The census is STILL trying
@TheStarGardian to find a way to classify Latinos that don't fall into the white/black categories. Don't be conditioned by the white supremacist bullshit. there is no such thing as the one drop rule. there is no such thing as white, black, or Asian. The reason we are evening having this debate is because you and I both are trying to make sense of a concept that makes no sense. but we must create this discourse in order to function in this convoluted society.
@denashanicole Here is a to-do list for you! go to Bradshaw foundations website. Watch a video there by the name : Journey of Mankind. L@@k for a copy of a book : "Seven Daughters of Eve." Watch : "What DNA says about human ancestry." Africans were living in Mexico before any so-called Mexican people. Also a large influx of black runaway slaves. Some Mexicans relate their heritage as Spanish... African Moors occupied Spain and Mexico. Montezuma was of Moorish heritage. WE ARE CHILDREN OF AFRICA.
@denashanicole I think your a very beautiful young lady. You remind me of actress Rae Dawn Chong. I want to say... this struggle you are mounting is a waste of time. Most of your examples are anthropomorphic In essence... which are simply an idea from mankind not based on a scientific reality.
YOU DO NOT HAVE SCIENCE ON YOUR SIDE when you speak in terms of human beings being divided into RACIAL SUBSPECIES. Which is simply NONSENSE. No BIRACIAL Race.. Only One Human Race.
@TheStarGardian are you crazy the average mexican has no negro gene research before you comment african americans dont believe in dna and genetics they only believe in nonsense...
@aztec714ok - Not true. The African population in Mexico mixed very heavily from the beginning in Mexico. There was a recent DNA study and they found African roots in all regions of Mexico. Of course, some places have a stronger presence than others. But, there was heavy mixing even with just Africans and Natives. Some places where the population considers itself fully native in Latin America also have a strong African lineage (the Miskito people of Central America via DNA).
@aztec714ok - One also has to remember that during the colonial period of Mexico, there were more Africans there than Europeans. The first or second president of Mexico was part-black. Many people who consider themselves mestizo are actually triracial (like Hugo Chavez in Venezuela). If you Google "African or European admixture was identified in all regions" you can check for yourself about the recent dna admixture studies in Mexico.
I do see Africa when i look in the mirror (as should everyone, Africa is the source)...but I also see Mexico....I'm not White so I am not sure why the percentage of white people is relevant to what I have said. All in all I agree with you though... it's much more about heritage and culture than it is about race for me.
However I don't agree with people of mixed heritage being referred to as "half breeds"... that;s insulting to any human.
I'm a black man (dark skinned) and I agree with what you're saying. No one would have believed that Rashida Jones (Quincy Jones daughter) was half-black. She and Jennifer Beals look fully white. If they identified as only white I would totally understand even though I would also understand how that would incense certain African-Americans who are insecure about being black.
@jennyjones0 I disagree. There are certain nuances that totally alien to someone who identifies as white...but completely familiar to some who identifies as black. Perhaps sub-culture would have been a better choice of words.
6. ) It seems with certain black people, they don't want to hear about you having a positive experience with your white half because when you do it makes it harder for them to keep pretending that you're all the way black JUST LIKE THEM . like certain ertain black people want . SOME, NOT ALLLL Black people do this . I just keep running into the ones that do
5. ) Dont talk about your white side, dont bring it up at all, that is, unless... it is to totally down and degrade that half of yourself or to talk shit about white people in general or if it's to bring up how racist your white relatives are then That's ok to bring up your white half, but if your white relatives are loving and kind then they dont want to hear about your white half anymore.
whats a white side? I guess your late on the fact that if your not 100% then your not "white". Look up their defintion of the word in the dictionary. I wish you did have a white side that would be a sight to see "vitaligo". Yes the "mulatto" was created out of love look at the history.
4. ) It almost seems like with certain Black people their security in their Blackness is depended on how they perceive my security in my Blackness . And security in your Blackness when it comes to mixed people to certain black people means love your black side way more then your white side or love your Black side completely and hold the white half in contempt. .
3. ) then i get " Well, in America YOUR BLACK, one DROP, people will see you as Black when they look at you ( I'm thinking oh, like you just did, you just thought I was Mexican ) and they literally want to go back and forth with me on this , it's like they don't want me to leave the conversation until I agree with them and they hear me say " I'm black " before I walk away LOL WTF are you serious .
2. ) But what irks me is when Black people assume I'm Hispanic and I correct then and say no I'm Black and White my mother is this and my father was that I'm then questioned as to what race i consider myself and then I say " I acknowledge both equally and without prejudice so therefore I identify as Biracial a wonderful combination of my Italian/German mother and my Black father " or I'll say it the other way around .
1. ) This is what irks me, my problem isn't with someone calling me black there is nothing wrong with being black or white or Asian though most people don't take me as black however, when I correct people that call me something like Hispanic I tell them I'm not Hispanic I'm half black half white or I'm half White half Black ( I've put both races first several times i don't always say white before Black or black before white i switch it up to be fair LOL ) ,
thank you! honestly for the longest time I thought I was the only one who felt this way. biracial isn't black, biracial is biracial. why is this even a debate?
@BiracialGirl1977 you are nothing more cockroach. You biracials are just a bunch of stuck swines idiot. You talk ss if you are better than black. Well the Black KKK shall enforce the hatred that black people have from half breeds
Sis..your right.. you are what your father is, the FATHER carries the seed. If you were to plant an apple seed anywhere in the world ..an apple tree would still grow. The same principle applies to people. Edomites (white people) has used this to divide and conquer our people (black and hispanic). Read your history from the only TRUTH on this earth ..THE BIBLE. Learn it and live by it! ..Peace
You're right Nicole, you don't know what it's like unless you've lived it.There's so much incomprehension, so many misconceptions about the mixed experience. We have our issues and we have to deal with the issues of other people who judge us, hate on us and bring us down because they're insecure or racist and sometimes both.
sorry last part I swear , I dont feel like Mariah calling herself Black now is sincere I think she just does it to save face so Black people will stop calling her confused .
@BiracialGirl1977 Well I apologize if I offended you. I misunderstood. I agree... it sad that she is denying who she is just to appease her fan base :/ It's even more sad that she feels like she has to. Says volumes about the world we live in and the support we give people after we've had to struggle for so long. And so many biracial people have fallen victim to the same mentality because of the pressure from blacks...smh.
@denashanicole 1. ) Oh, I wasn't offended, I just didn't want you to misunderstand where I was coming from, my first comment was just so damn lonngggg as it was so I dont think I really explained my reasoning and it came across as me just not liking the fact that she identified as Black . I mean she didnt grow up FEELING Black and she spent most of her adulthood NOT feeling black but now all the sudden she feels Black once she gets Engaged to a Black man ? Yeah Right .
@BiracialGirl1977 I feel you. and at the end of the day, identity is so dynamic. It's not just about what race your parents are, it has a lot to do with culture and environment. She was raised by her white mother if i am not mistaken... why would she FEEL black? I don't pretend to know anyone's feelings or their plights, but I do find it interesting that someone cold feel one way their whole life and then switch it up so abruptly.
@denashanicole 2. ) Taking into account how many Blacks were pissed when she refused to conform from the beginning of her career all the way up to when she gets engaged to a Black guy ? And then her own husband one dropping her and now she says nothing about it when before she always corrected people when they one dropped her .
@denashanicole 3. ) BUT NOW all the sudden she's all for perpetuating the one drop rule LMAO as if she just found out this social rule and had no other choice but to go along with it ? sounds suspect . Truth is , Black people have been beating her up with the one drop rule since it was known she was 1/4 Black calling her every nasty name in the book because she refused to one drop herself ... hmmmm something doesn't sound right here.
@denashanicole 4. ) what happened was Black people beat her over the head with it so much and made her feel like shit for not identifying as Black ( guilt trip ) that she probably felt " If I still refuse to call myself Black now , then my husband and all his family will be offended , so let me just say " I'm Black " so I don't have to deal with all the potential drama I'll probably get for not conforming ,especially when I'm married to a Black guy "
Which race invented the one drop rule? Who made it a law for hundreds of years and still in law in places in the u.s. today? Another thing, we aren't black our skin is brown. Biracial isn't a race and if the mixed people have such a problem with being seen as "black" then stop taking roles and spots reserved for "black" people when its convenient etc.
@nosimpin1 And actually the " one drop rule " is NOT law anymore sorry to inform you. The people that still go by it go by it out ignorance thinking it's officially still a law when it's not or they go by it because they personally don't want to let it go for their on ulterior motives. The one drop rule was ruled as unconstitutional in the U.S. supreme court and thrown out of courts in Loving V's Virginia 1967 read the court case in it's entirety or did you even read any of it to begin with
@denashanicole 5. ) See there's going to be more pressure to identify as Black NOW being married to a Black man then there ever was before . You see , she has to deal with his family now constantly being in her everyday life so the pressure to conform is MAJOR especially when HIS family knows she has a 1/4 Black blood and looks white . I mean whats it going to look like when she's engaged to a Black man but , YET at the same time , still refuses to call herself Black ? she did it to SAVE FACE
@denashanicole 6. ) She used to have a spine ,she used to be herself regardless of who liked it or accepted it , she used to NOT let others define her but now.... thats exactly what she's doing LETTING OTHERS DEFINE HER AND MAKE HER FEEL GUILTY FOR HER IDENTIFY CHOICE . I just can't respect that , SHE GAVE UP ON STANDING UP FOR HERSELF AS FAR AS HER RACIAL IDENTITY WENT BECAUSE IT WAS just SO damn HARD BEING BIRACIAL .
@denashanicole .5. ) If Mariah had first came out and said she identified as Black then i would be like ok, but she changed that because she couldn't cope with the pressure people were putting her under to change her identity to solely a Black identity ,she caved into the pressure and i think that is cowardly; cause when it really came down to it she lacked the courage of her convictions . I lost respect for her . Continued -----> Last part, I think . LOL
@denashanicole 4. ) Mariah will always be confused because she cares to much about what others think . If Obama ended up flip flopping like she did at 50 something years old i would see Obama as a coward and also a hypocrite as well . Continued ---------> Sorry i have to copy and paste all the parts, you know yahoo only lets you type like 500 letters at a time soooo Continued --------->
@denashanicole 3. ) Now after Obama's term in office is over and say if he were to be like " I want to be seen a Biracial now " then all respect for his racial identity choice goes out the window . I can understand being a flip flopper when you in you're in your teens and younger but if you still dont know what or who the hell you are and you're almost 40 and you're supposedly just figuring it out now ? Mariah, Please give me a damn break . She just made herself look confused .
@denashanicole 2. ) Damn sorry for the longgg pause in between my post , I got caught up in something, that being said : If Mariah had identified as Black from the beginning then i would have respected that just like Obama identified as Black from the beginning, I didnt agree with him on that but I respected and still respect his choice to identify as Black instead of Biracial .
1 ) @denashanicole No i dont disown her because she identifies as Black now i disown her because she is a flip flopper, the common misconception is that biracial people who are mixed with Black are confused and she just made the stereotype seem to be true. Continued ------->
12. ) Mariah USED to stand up for us as Biracial people , she helped make us visible, but I guess she wont be doing THAT anymore . I guess she'll be on the one drop train just like so many other Black people out there, GOD, I hope she doesnt go on this telling Biracial Black /white people " You're Black and Only Black " KICK
@BiracialGirl1977 Wow you have a LOT to say. and I agree with ALMOST everything. I think you got a little caught up in your emotions at the end haha. I would not go as far to disown Mariah because she identifies as Black now. I mean it's that kind of mentality that enslaves us all. As biracial/multiracial people we fight for the right to choose... Mariah Carey has the same right and freedom...if she decided to deny that right, or choose Black, that's on her. I just wish people wouldn't ===>
@BiracialGirl1977 try so hard to enforce labels (of every kind) on people. In the end how we identify is our choose (to an extent). We need to move forward let go of the white supremacy bullshit and recognize that the times goes our nation is being populated with mixed children... at some point we have to recognize that there is a new race...and that's okay. The world is changing and evolving...our mindset needs to change with it.
11 . ) Mariah was very influential to the multiracial movement because very few biracial people that are mixed with Black speak up and identify as Biracial publicly; MOST biracial people that are mixed with Black have already conformed and when you see one that doesnt and stands up for their right to identify as biracial in a public setting it's a breath of fresh air .
10 ) She will be part of the list of Black identified biracial people that a lot of Blacks try to use in convincing anything mixed with Black to only identify as Black. Things like this are usually said by black people " Well, so and so identifies as Black and their biracial what makes you so special, you just dont want to be Black " can you say GUILT TRIP PEOPLE ?
9 . ) If she ever divorces Nick's ass and wants to identify as mixed again dont try sending her ass back over here . SHE HAS BETRAYED US and set the multiracial movement back because she is REALLY making Biracial people look CONFUSED if they dont say their ONLY Black NOWWW ..
8. ) Yes, I said it, her identifying as mixed race for like the longest time to now as of 2007 - 20011 identifying as ONLY has now made her look REALLY confused in my book ) at least before, she knew who she was, and she HAD a fucking spine to stand up for her identity choice , but now it's ... Mariah : " I'm Black because the one drop rule said I had no choice " LMAO Black people you can have her dumb ass LOL . .
7. ) Cause No you haven't always supported her . You're supporting her now cause #1. she married a Black man and #2 . She's now conformed into one dropping her damn self just like Black people wanted all along. Talk about a damn Robot , Good Job Black people SCORE, You can have her confused ass, we dont want her anymore .
6. ) Black people Mocked Mariah's choice to identify as Biracial instead of JUST Black. Black people called her confused, Tragic Mulatto , and every other nasty thing they could . So now that Mariah Carey has finally caved into Black people's slavery and Jim Crow guilt trips and now deems herself ONLY BLACK all the sudden ( cause the one drop rule said she had to LOL ) Black people want to say they have always supported Mariah . LOL I CALL BULL SHIT .
5 . ) Whenever you have a person that's mixed with Black that identifies as anything other than Black IN PUBLIC, their always attacked by a Black person for doing so . Look what happened to Mariah Carey, remember when she identified as Biracial, mixed race, tri-racial , she even one time called herself a mutt . Mariah used to identify as Mixed very strongly and Black people would always say " Mariah One Drop , You would of been a slave too just like us , you're just ASHAMED . Continued ----->
4. ) The One Drop Rule used to be a LAW but it was outlawed in the supreme court in 1967 with the case of Loving Vs' Virginia but Black people want to shout about how it's still a law . Why would Black people support that racist ideology by enforcing the " one drop rule "
3 .) These particular Black people will beat biracial people over the head with the " one drop rule . Why would MAJORITY of American Blacks want to follow and go along with a racist social rule that was meant to degrade black blood, and deem it as inferior and implied black blood was something that contaminated your whole gene pool ? Continued ------>
3 . ) These particular Blacks are Jealous we are getting an option , we are starting to be recognized as biracial to the point that it gave us the option to pick all that apply on the census. These particular Black people dont want that; they want " Yo ass to stay Black too " These particular Black people dont want the Black / White combo to branch off into another ethnic group . You can tell these particular black people apart from the ones that dont by what they do. Continued ---------->
2. ) The Black people that have so much of a problem with Biracial people who are mixed with Black and something else identifying as any other than black are suffering from the " If i gotta be black than so should you " syndrome , these particular Blacks dont want to be black themselves but they have no other options cause both their parents are Black and they cant pass for any other race besides Black and these particular Blacks wish they really could.
lol. Now why would I be jealous. The facts are Mixed people have always been labeled "black" for hundreds of years and that is why they are seen that way. ( Besides we know whose genes are dominant") Why would I want to anything else? The truth of the matter is their are mixed people who look more "black" than some ones who are not mixed. (I have seen it first hand). The first thing people think when they see a "mulatto" is "black" person. Cont
As far as how people identify I don't care. (If you look "black" but get mad when people call you that its your problem) Just don't play that best of both worlds sh...
@nosimpin1 1. ) ( This is a bit long, just to let you know ) Ok you made this comment a month ago so sorry for the long delay I've been so busy with that being said , I don't recall me personally messaging you saying that you were jealous of me or mixed people in general for being mixed race . What I DO remember saying to the general room is that there are PARTICULAR Black people that are jealous PARTICULAR does NOT mean ALL .
@nosimpin1 2. ) If it doesn't apply to YOU personally as a Black person then guess what ? LET IT FLY cause that means I'm NOT TALKING ABOUT YOU . The PARTICULAR Black people that are jealous know who they are . If there was anything I said to you personally attributing you as personally being jealous of the fact that I'm Biracial or that ALL Black people were jealous of Biracial people in general .
@nosimpin1 3. ) Then please quote me on where I said this so I can take into account in what context I said it . And another thing Biracial people were NOT always considered Black there were terms such as Negro for Black, [ Mulatto ] for someone who had one White and one Black biological parent [ Quadroon ] for someone who had one White and one half White/half Black biological parent and [ Octoroon ] for someone who had a Black great grandparent ( 1/8 black )
well stop blaming people of color for the sh.,.. your "white side" made law. Yes a mulatto etc were "black" people because "black" is a social construct just like "white" is which was created by europeans. Did mulattos sit in the front of the bus half the time or go to the "white" bathrooms half the time etc. Where is the land called "blackerland" or" Blaxico"? "Black" "white" was created by europeans as a means to justify their evil. Your the "black" were "white defined
@nosimpin1 4. ) they wouldn't of had these separate terms if all of them were looked at as black in the same way as in " Negro " . . MU for Mulatto was even a racial category on the U.S. census up until the Hypodescent law ( The one drop rule which was apart of Jim Crow ) started legally being enforced in 1910 , the one drop rule spread nation wide by 1930 .
@nosimpin1 5. ) Now I'm not saying that the notion or concept didn't exist until 1910 because it's very clear that it did , I'm just saying it didn't start to legally be enforced until the start of 1910 . Mulatto or mixed race people that had Black in them were NOT legally looked at as Black, they were looked at and distinguished from Blacks or what they would of called " Negro race " back then .
@nosimpin1 6. ) Mulatto's were NOT looked at as Negro and Negro was not looked at as Mulatto. However, mixed people certainly weren't looked at as White either. And black is NOT dominate just because a Mulatto who is 50/50 come out with color to their skin doesn't mean that Black dominated.
@nosimpin1 7. ) If that was the case, majority of Black/White Biracial Mulattoes would come out with the same complexion as their black parent and most times they come out significantly lighter and not just a little lighter a lot lighter than their Black parent . Mixed people would come out with so called watered down Black features because Black being dominate would make watering those features down impossible.
@nosimpin1 8. ) What you guys are calling watered down black features is codominants taking place the blending of both races features coming together to create new features that are a product of 2 separate and distinct features on their own . Mixed people usually come out with a combination of both parents skin complexion blended into one that is NOT dominance at work there that is co-dominance at work.
@nosimpin1 9. ) If Black dominated you wouldn't be able to tell when mixed people are obviously mixed and most times a Black person can usually tell when someone is mixed or has mixture in their family there are many black people that just like to front like they cant tell cause certain Black people feel like if they tell a certain mixed person that they look mixed .. that that mixed person will intern start to think their better than regular Black people who don't look very mixed.
if black wasn't dominant then lenny kravitz would look different. I have seen mixed people darker than the average "black" person and look more "black" as well.
@nosimpin1 10. ) so these certain Black people will make it a point to say to the obviously mixed person that they look just like a regular black person so that particular mixed looking, mixed race person doesn't see themselves as different from regular black looking people and want to identify as something other than black .
@nosimpin1 11. ) I'm not saying you do this but... that IS some Black peoples mindset . Let me discourage said obviously mixed looking person from identifying as anything other than black by over exaggerating thier Black features and point them out at any chance I get and if no Black features are there at all lets just make them up and say " Oh I got someone in my family that has the same features as you and they still say there Black so you should too . "
1 ) See Jaylove 47 is suffering from what many Black people are suffering from and that's an Inferiority Complex , the Black people that just ASSUME a biracial person MUST think that their better than Black people without any other cause then just " Their mixed, mixed people have historically thought they were better then us normal Black folk " is coming from Black people that secretly feel inferior to biracial people they will never admit to it though . Continued ------->
It's nothing but jealousy plain and simple. There can't be any other reason someone cares so damn much how someone identifies him/herself. My mom's white and my dad's Puerto Rican but I was only raised by my mom/stepdad both white. When people ask what I am that's what I say PR/white. Oh do you speak English lollllllll, always the stupidest question! You just heard my southern accent and me say my mom was white? I think a lot of people are just straight up mentally retarded in this country.

So, "if I aint shit, you aint shit either."
iramas1 1 month ago
@iramas1 I agree with you COMPLETELY. Thank you for your insight.
denashanicole 1 month ago
@denashanicole Glad u do. The reality is that, adhering to the criteria of the social construct of race, "biracial" people undoubtedly constitute a separate race. Aside from sharing a unique socio-cultural experience (u are discussing part of it), we share phenotypic traits that distinguish us from any other racial group. When you have to question "what someone is mixed with", like The Rock, Drake, Obama, Halle, Alicia, Rosario etc. it is implicit that they do not look "Black".
iramas1 1 month ago
@iramas1 @denashanicole wrong. that is a terrible insight. infact, the only insight found in that statement is obviosuly both of y'all basically racist sentiment.
"if I aint shit, you aint shit either."? Dont get too ahead of yourself. It is only in the U.S that Biracial are considered black. Nobody is trying to hold Biracials back

1) Biracials are still seen as black by WHITE AMERICAN ESTABLISHMENT as having the tainted black blood, and thus Black e.g cops

@denashanicole @iramas1 Obvisouly Biracial people are not Black, and shouldn't be classes as such. But you are blaming the Wrong People.
You should be GRATEFUL to Blacks because Biracial are the ones who actually gain from Claiming Black (with historical disowning by white people) and not the Other way Round.

There's no such thing as white people.

Go beyond the looks, and think about how life will be for someone who doesn't fit in, who has to go through life looking a certain way and having people shun them or make fun of them or omit them. as a rule, white, asian, arabs, indians, and white hispanic will never accept a person with mixed blood of black people and their particular race as a full human being or give them equal status in their society or culture. therein lies the problem. guess what, black people will, so why not be black? why reject the one race that will accept you? and all black people just about are well aware of their mixed heritage. however, we are still black , and we procreated all the other races.

@denashanicole I disagree, What some people need to comprehend is that Africa is a vast and large continent with over 55 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES WITH DIFFERENT CULTURES JUST AS AMERICA DIFFERS FROM THE UK, so no it would be a sub-culture as there are many different cultures in the world which are amongst these groups called "BLACK" and "WHITE" which I'm sure you would understand because you wouldn't group your Father as red! you're suggesting that every person of African origin is culturally
jennyjones0 6 months ago

@TheStarGardian I am aware of the African roots of Mexico, however that African lineage is very concentrated in a specific area (of the coats of Vera Cruz). There are many Mexicans, like my father, who have french and Spanish heritage as well. The FACT is race is a social construct that has no foundation in science, therefor i can define race how ever I see fit. @TheStarGardian are you crazy the average mexican has no negro gene research before you comment african americans dont believe in dna and genetics they only believe in nonsense...
aztec714ok 1 month ago
@aztec714ok - Not true. The African population in Mexico mixed very heavily from the beginning in Mexico. There was a recent DNA study and they found African roots in all regions of Mexico. Of course, some places have a stronger presence than others. But, there was heavy mixing even with just Africans and Natives. Some places where the population considers itself fully native in Latin America also have a strong African lineage (the Miskito people of Central America via DNA).
lovingit1000 1 month ago
@aztec714ok - One also has to remember that during the colonial period of Mexico, there were more Africans there than Europeans. The first or second president of Mexico was part-black. Many people who consider themselves mestizo are actually triracial (like Hugo Chavez in Venezuela). If you Google "African or European admixture was identified in all regions" you can check for yourself about the recent dna admixture studies in Mexico.

@RusconiDom I was a little confused about the first comment. But thanks for the love. and thanks for watching!
denashanicole 9 months ago
sorry last part I swear , I dont feel like Mariah calling herself Black now is sincere I think she just does it to save face so Black people will stop calling her confused .
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
@BiracialGirl1977 Well I apologize if I offended you. I misunderstood. I agree... it sad that she is denying who she is just to appease her fan base :/ It's even more sad that she feels like she has to. Says volumes about the world we live in and the support we give people after we've had to struggle for so long. And so many biracial people have fallen victim to the same mentality because of the pressure from blacks...smh.
denashanicole 10 months ago
@denashanicole 1. ) Oh, I wasn't offended, I just didn't want you to misunderstand where I was coming from, my first comment was just so damn lonngggg as it was so I dont think I really explained my reasoning and it came across as me just not liking the fact that she identified as Black . I mean she didnt grow up FEELING Black and she spent most of her adulthood NOT feeling black but now all the sudden she feels Black once she gets Engaged to a Black man ? Yeah Right .
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
@BiracialGirl1977 I feel you. and at the end of the day, identity is so dynamic. It's not just about what race your parents are, it has a lot to do with culture and environment. She was raised by her white mother if i am not mistaken... why would she FEEL black? I don't pretend to know anyone's feelings or their plights, but I do find it interesting that someone cold feel one way their whole life and then switch it up so abruptly.
denashanicole 9 months ago
@denashanicole 2. ) Taking into account how many Blacks were pissed when she refused to conform from the beginning of her career all the way up to when she gets engaged to a Black guy ? And then her own husband one dropping her and now she says nothing about it when before she always corrected people when they one dropped her .
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
@denashanicole 3. ) BUT NOW all the sudden she's all for perpetuating the one drop rule LMAO as if she just found out this social rule and had no other choice but to go along with it ? sounds suspect . Truth is , Black people have been beating her up with the one drop rule since it was known she was 1/4 Black calling her every nasty name in the book because she refused to one drop herself ... hmmmm something doesn't sound right here.
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
@denashanicole 4. ) what happened was Black people beat her over the head with it so much and made her feel like shit for not identifying as Black ( guilt trip ) that she probably felt " If I still refuse to call myself Black now , then my husband and all his family will be offended , so let me just say " I'm Black " so I don't have to deal with all the potential drama I'll probably get for not conforming ,especially when I'm married to a Black guy "
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
@BiracialGirl1977
Which race invented the one drop rule? Who made it a law for hundreds of years and still in law in places in the u.s. today? Another thing, we aren't black our skin is brown. Biracial isn't a race and if the mixed people have such a problem with being seen as "black" then stop taking roles and spots reserved for "black" people when its convenient etc.
nosimpin1 7 months ago
@nosimpin1 And actually the " one drop rule " is NOT law anymore sorry to inform you. The people that still go by it go by it out ignorance thinking it's officially still a law when it's not or they go by it because they personally don't want to let it go for their on ulterior motives. The one drop rule was ruled as unconstitutional in the U.S. supreme court and thrown out of courts in Loving V's Virginia 1967 read the court case in it's entirety or did you even read any of it to begin with
BiracialGirl1977 6 months ago
@BiracialGirl1977
it was upheld in 1986 as well.
nosimpin1 6 months ago
@denashanicole 5. ) See there's going to be more pressure to identify as Black NOW being married to a Black man then there ever was before . You see , she has to deal with his family now constantly being in her everyday life so the pressure to conform is MAJOR especially when HIS family knows she has a 1/4 Black blood and looks white . I mean whats it going to look like when she's engaged to a Black man but , YET at the same time , still refuses to call herself Black ? she did it to SAVE FACE
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
@denashanicole .5. ) If Mariah had first came out and said she identified as Black then i would be like ok, but she changed that because she couldn't cope with the pressure people were putting her under to change her identity to solely a Black identity ,she caved into the pressure and i think that is cowardly; cause when it really came down to it she lacked the courage of her convictions . I lost respect for her . Continued -----> Last part, I think . LOL
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
@BiracialGirl1977
When Mariah came out she was pressured to be "White"
nosimpin1 7 months ago
@denashanicole 4. ) Mariah will always be confused because she cares to much about what others think . If Obama ended up flip flopping like she did at 50 something years old i would see Obama as a coward and also a hypocrite as well . Continued ---------> Sorry i have to copy and paste all the parts, you know yahoo only lets you type like 500 letters at a time soooo Continued --------->
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
@denashanicole 3. ) Now after Obama's term in office is over and say if he were to be like " I want to be seen a Biracial now " then all respect for his racial identity choice goes out the window . I can understand being a flip flopper when you in you're in your teens and younger but if you still dont know what or who the hell you are and you're almost 40 and you're supposedly just figuring it out now ? Mariah, Please give me a damn break . She just made herself look confused .
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
@denashanicole 2. ) Damn sorry for the longgg pause in between my post , I got caught up in something, that being said : If Mariah had identified as Black from the beginning then i would have respected that just like Obama identified as Black from the beginning, I didnt agree with him on that but I respected and still respect his choice to identify as Black instead of Biracial .
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
1 ) @denashanicole No i dont disown her because she identifies as Black now i disown her because she is a flip flopper, the common misconception is that biracial people who are mixed with Black are confused and she just made the stereotype seem to be true. Continued ------->
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
12. ) Mariah USED to stand up for us as Biracial people , she helped make us visible, but I guess she wont be doing THAT anymore . I guess she'll be on the one drop train just like so many other Black people out there, GOD, I hope she doesnt go on this telling Biracial Black /white people " You're Black and Only Black " KICK
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
@BiracialGirl1977 Wow you have a LOT to say. and I agree with ALMOST everything. I think you got a little caught up in your emotions at the end haha. I would not go as far to disown Mariah because she identifies as Black now. I mean it's that kind of mentality that enslaves us all. As biracial/multiracial people we fight for the right to choose... Mariah Carey has the same right and freedom...if she decided to deny that right, or choose Black, that's on her. I just wish people wouldn't ===>
denashanicole 10 months ago
@BiracialGirl1977 try so hard to enforce labels (of every kind) on people. In the end how we identify is our choose (to an extent). We need to move forward let go of the white supremacy bullshit and recognize that the times goes our nation is being populated with mixed children... at some point we have to recognize that there is a new race...and that's okay. The world is changing and evolving...our mindset needs to change with it.
denashanicole 10 months ago
11 . ) Mariah was very influential to the multiracial movement because very few biracial people that are mixed with Black speak up and identify as Biracial publicly; MOST biracial people that are mixed with Black have already conformed and when you see one that doesnt and stands up for their right to identify as biracial in a public setting it's a breath of fresh air .
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
10 ) She will be part of the list of Black identified biracial people that a lot of Blacks try to use in convincing anything mixed with Black to only identify as Black. Things like this are usually said by black people " Well, so and so identifies as Black and their biracial what makes you so special, you just dont want to be Black " can you say GUILT TRIP PEOPLE ?
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
9 . ) If she ever divorces Nick's ass and wants to identify as mixed again dont try sending her ass back over here . SHE HAS BETRAYED US and set the multiracial movement back because she is REALLY making Biracial people look CONFUSED if they dont say their ONLY Black NOWWW ..
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
8. ) Yes, I said it, her identifying as mixed race for like the longest time to now as of 2007 - 20011 identifying as ONLY has now made her look REALLY confused in my book ) at least before, she knew who she was, and she HAD a fucking spine to stand up for her identity choice , but now it's ... Mariah : " I'm Black because the one drop rule said I had no choice " LMAO Black people you can have her dumb ass LOL . .
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
7. ) Cause No you haven't always supported her . You're supporting her now cause #1. she married a Black man and #2 . She's now conformed into one dropping her damn self just like Black people wanted all along. Talk about a damn Robot , Good Job Black people SCORE, You can have her confused ass, we dont want her anymore .
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
6. ) Black people Mocked Mariah's choice to identify as Biracial instead of JUST Black.
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
5 . ) Whenever you have a person that's mixed with Black that identifies as anything other than Black IN PUBLIC, their always attacked by a Black person for doing so .
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
4. ) The One Drop Rule used to be a LAW but it was outlawed in the supreme court in 1967 with the case of Loving Vs' Virginia but Black people want to shout about how it's still a law . Why would Black people support that racist ideology by enforcing the " one drop rule "
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
3 .) These particular Black people will beat biracial people over the head with the " one drop rule . Why would MAJORITY of American Blacks want to follow and go along with a racist social rule that was meant to degrade black blood, and deem it as inferior and implied black blood was something that contaminated your whole gene pool ? Continued ------>
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
3 . ) These particular Blacks are Jealous we are getting an option , we are starting to be recognized as biracial to the point that it gave us the option to pick all that apply on the census. These particular Black people dont want that; they want " Yo ass to stay Black too " These particular Black people dont want the Black / White combo to branch off into another ethnic group . You can tell these particular black people apart from the ones that dont by what they do. Continued ---------->
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
2. ) The Black people that have so much of a problem with Biracial people who are mixed with Black and something else identifying as any other than black are suffering from the " If i gotta be black than so should you " syndrome , these particular Blacks dont want to be black themselves but they have no other options cause both their parents are Black and they cant pass for any other race besides Black and these particular Blacks wish they really could.
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
@BiracialGirl1977
Cont

nosimpin1 7 months ago
@nosimpin1 1. ) ( This is a bit long, just to let you know ) Ok you made this comment a month ago so sorry for the long delay I've been so busy with that being said , I don't recall me personally messaging you saying that you were jealous of me or mixed people in general for being mixed race . What I DO remember saying to the general room is that there are PARTICULAR Black people that are jealous PARTICULAR does NOT mean ALL .
BiracialGirl1977 6 months ago
@nosimpin1 2. ) If it doesn't apply to YOU personally as a Black person then guess what ? LET IT FLY cause that means I'm NOT TALKING ABOUT YOU . The PARTICULAR Black people that are jealous know who they are . If there was anything I said to you personally attributing you as personally being jealous of the fact that I'm Biracial or that ALL Black people were jealous of Biracial people in general .
BiracialGirl1977 6 months ago
@nosimpin1 3. ) Then please quote me on where I said this so I can take into account in what context I said it . And another thing Biracial people were NOT always considered Black there were terms such as Negro for Black, [ Mulatto ] for someone who had one White and one Black biological parent [ Quadroon ] for someone who had one White and one half White/half Black biological parent and [ Octoroon ] for someone who had a Black great grandparent ( 1/8 black )
BiracialGirl1977 6 months ago
@BiracialGirl1977
well stop blaming people of color for the sh.,.. your "white side" made law. Your the "black" were "white defined
nosimpin1 6 months ago
@nosimpin1 4. ) they wouldn't of had these separate terms if all of them were looked at as black in the same way as in " Negro " . . MU for Mulatto was even a racial category on the U.S. census up until the Hypodescent law ( The one drop rule which was apart of Jim Crow ) started legally being enforced in 1910 , the one drop rule spread nation wide by 1930 .
BiracialGirl1977 6 months ago
@nosimpin1 5. ) Now I'm not saying that the notion or concept didn't exist until 1910 because it's very clear that it did , I'm just saying it didn't start to legally be enforced until the start of 1910 . Mulatto or mixed race people that had Black in them were NOT legally looked at as Black, they were looked at and distinguished from Blacks or what they would of called " Negro race " back then .
BiracialGirl1977 6 months ago
@nosimpin1 6. ) Mulatto's were NOT looked at as Negro and Negro was not looked at as Mulatto. However, mixed people certainly weren't looked at as White either. And black is NOT dominate just because a Mulatto who is 50/50 come out with color to their skin doesn't mean that Black dominated.
BiracialGirl1977 6 months ago
@nosimpin1 7. ) If that was the case, majority of Black/White Biracial Mulattoes would come out with the same complexion as their black parent and most times they come out significantly lighter and not just a little lighter a lot lighter than their Black parent . Mixed people would come out with so called watered down Black features because Black being dominate would make watering those features down impossible.
BiracialGirl1977 6 months ago
@nosimpin1 8. ) What you guys are calling watered down black features is codominants taking place the blending of both races features coming together to create new features that are a product of 2 separate and distinct features on their own . Mixed people usually come out with a combination of both parents skin complexion blended into one that is NOT dominance at work there that is co-dominance at work.
BiracialGirl1977 6 months ago
@nosimpin1 9. ) If Black dominated you wouldn't be able to tell when mixed people are obviously mixed and most times a Black person can usually tell when someone is mixed or has mixture in their family there are many black people that just like to front like they cant tell cause certain Black people feel like if they tell a certain mixed person that they look mixed .. that that mixed person will intern start to think their better than regular Black people who don't look very mixed.
BiracialGirl1977 6 months ago
@BiracialGirl1977
if black wasn't dominant then lenny kravitz would look different. I have seen mixed people darker than the average "black" person and look more "black" as well.
nosimpin1 6 months ago
@BiracialGirl1977
I have a cousin whose mom is high yellow and he looks like Terrell Owens. Boris Koujo, Bob Marley, etc I cant tell.
nosimpin1 6 months ago
@nosimpin1 10. ) so these certain Black people will make it a point to say to the obviously mixed person that they look just like a regular black person so that particular mixed looking, mixed race person doesn't see themselves as different from regular black looking people and want to identify as something other than black .
BiracialGirl1977 6 months ago
@nosimpin1 11. ) I'm not saying you do this but... that IS some Black peoples mindset . Let me discourage said obviously mixed looking person from identifying as anything other than black by over exaggerating thier Black features and point them out at any chance I get and if no Black features are there at all lets just make them up and say " Oh I got someone in my family that has the same features as you and they still say there Black so you should too . "
BiracialGirl1977 6 months ago
1 ) See Jaylove 47 is suffering from what many Black people are suffering from and that's an Inferiority Complex , the Black people that just ASSUME a biracial person MUST think that their better than Black people without any other cause then just " Their mixed, mixed people have historically thought they were better then us normal Black folk " is coming from Black people that secretly feel inferior to biracial people they will never admit to it though . Continued ------->
BiracialGirl1977 10 months ago
It's nothing but jealousy plain and simple. There can't be any other reason someone cares so damn much how someone identifies him/herself. My mom's white and my dad's Puerto Rican but I was only raised by my mom/stepdad both white. When people ask what I am that's what I say PR/white. Oh do you speak English lollllllll, always the stupidest question! You just heard my southern accent and me say my mom was white? I think a lot of people are just straight up mentally retarded in this country.
