The movie was ok. I didn't like some of the technicality. Like when he escaped from the hospital he was just chilling at the airport while the whole world was looking for him, yeah right! Then the part where the big robot guy get trapped between the panels, I mean, first he takes control of airplanes and shows that he can kill anything he wants, but then he gets trapped in the panels? really?

the original was made during the cold war era it's good and is the prototype for most sci-fi movies that followed it, a lot of what they did in the 1950's version was a first story and concept wise, the way they did it was original it's the mother of every sci-fi movie and was the first sci-fi of it's type not to be just cheesy.

I would've liked it better had it been set up as a SEQUEL to the original movie. Think of the scene where the woman tells Klaatu about the nice things the humans made: I would've loved for Klaatu to reply "I know all of this, I have already been on this planet, but with a different body."
And at the end, I would've loved for Klaatu to say that mankind was given the chance to stop wars but never did, then have the nanomachines do what was implied in the previous movie: ACTUALLY DESTROY HUMANITY!
No, in the original movie there was only the threat of destruction. I meant I would've liked this movie better as a sequel to the original, and the threat mentioned in the original was acted upon in this one, for the same reasons.
In the original, Klaatu said that if humans did not stop making war, he would have returned and destroyed mankind. In this movie, I would have liked Klaatu to say "You didn't listen to me last time, now I'll destroy you and it's all your fault." and see that happen.

What a truly wretched filml!! This film should be mandatory viewing when teaching how NOT to make a remake of a classic. They calI them CLASSICS for a reason, DAH!! I can understand a studio wanting to remake a film that they feel they can greatly improve upon. But HOW do you improve upon CLASSIC perfection! You can't, and boy did they prove THAT! They couldn't even stay true to the plot. And then they have to bury us in obnoxious special effects when the original barely used or NEEDED any!!

The movie was ok. I didn't like some of the technicality. Like when he escaped from the hospital he was just chilling at the airport while the whole world was looking for him, yeah right! a fantastic movie,the acting and character development could have been better but as a way to pass a rainy sunday afternoon it's good enough.
the original was made during the cold war era it's good and is the prototype for most sci-fi movies that followed it, a lot of what they did in the 1950's version was a first story and concept wise, the way they did it was original it's the mother of every sci-fi movie and was the first sci-fi of it's type not to be just cheesy.

I really liked this movie! It sent a great message, if we don't take care of our planet, our planet won't take care of us! Keanu Reeves was really good in this. So emotionless, he reminded me of Mr. Spock on Star Trek. In fact, I think he could play Mr. Spock very well! Great message and a really good movie, liked Keanu Reeves as always!

I would've liked it better had it been set up as a SEQUEL to the original movie. Think of the scene where the woman tells Klaatu about the nice things the humans made: I would've loved for Klaatu to reply "I know all of this, I have already been on this planet, but with a different body."
And at the end, I would've loved for Klaatu to say that mankind was given the chance to stop wars but never did, then have the nanomachines do what was implied in the previous movie: ACTUALLY DESTROY HUMANITY!

No, in the original movie there was only the threat of destruction. I meant I would've liked this movie better as a sequel to the original, and the threat mentioned in the original was acted upon in this one, for the same reasons.
In the original, Klaatu said that if humans did not stop making war, he would have returned and destroyed mankind. In this movie, I would have liked Klaatu to say "You didn't listen to me last time, now I'll destroy you and it's all your fault." and see that happen.

Klaatu would not return to destroy Earth, it would be Gort and others of his kind since the citizens of the other planets give total discretion regarding preserving the peace to the roids. The story is nice, everything is working out except for the black kid who played a bad role, but everything was working out good until the ending.
the ending is just the alien leaving earth, but nothing more, no sign of showing that humanity has learn the "lesson", it was just a mass destruction and that was it.
the ending really ruined it, it would be better if they show that the human realize what is wrong.

I knew once I heard the trailer, over a year ago, it was going to be filled with left wing eco BS...and it was. Just watched it on HBO and my assumption was correct.
At least in the original, Klaatu warned humans that we were to aggressive to go into space, and they {they alien } wouldn't allow that unless we changed.
This one ended by putting us back into the stone age with no electrical power or any way of using natural resources...stupid.
