  • Is this race online or offline, or you can only play online.

  • @Buhnanah

iRacing is online only. You can test by yourself, but you still have to have an internet connection to access the service.

  • Is iracing free?

  • @Y0UngA55isin

No. There are different ways to purchase it. You can check out their website for pricing. iracing(dot)com

  • oh and does the frex shifter connect to the g27 or the pc???

  • @iracingAddict02

3 screens are a lot better than one. You can see so much more and you are able to run a proper FOV.

The Frex shifter connects to a USB board and then connects to your computer.

  • are three screens way better than one screen?

  • how good does the open road feel after being stuck behind traffic for 3 laps. Great tight racing

  • Just bought one of these wheel but I recon im to much of a noob to play this game online ;D

  • Just bought the Falcon because of this vid Chad. Little bitchy to get used to it, but very fun to drive. Hope the NTM makes it handle a little less like "driving on soap".

  • @Fergobirck Awesome!

The Falcon is a little bit tricky to drive. The rear end wants to kick out on you all the time.

I hope it gets the NTM soon, I'm sure it would help the car a lot.

  • Great video mate.. beautiful driving. I love watching this sim in Acton.

  • Talk about an aggressive start by the green car. Always prefer rolling starts.

  • Great video mate, think i will be buying this car next.

The series looks really close too

  • Nice looking setup, I really wish I had 3 screens when I'm next to other cars!

  • will my ati radeon HD 4350 be able to run iRacing please reply!

  • @HighTierGaming

Yea you shouldn't have a problem. I started with a Nvidia 8600GT and then downgraded to an 9400GS. You will just have to turn the graphics down. iRacing is heavily dependent on your CPU though.

  • Dude great driving!!! I also like your rig. Would you mind posting your PC's complete specs as I recently had a quote done for a gaming PC (specifically for iRacing) which came out to just over $2000 CAD - and this is only with one monitor and one graphics card - TO EXPENSIVE.

  • @JPJamster Thanks!

My system is a little old. CPU is a Intel E8400 and Graphics card is an ATI 5870. I don't remember what everything else is, but you CPU and Video card are going to be the most expensive.

I would suggest buy the parts a few at a time to stretch out how much you are spending at once. I built my computer over 3 months.

  • Awesome setup awesome driving mate.

How do you connect the three monitors ? Matrox Triplehead2Go ? or Eyefinity?

What graphic card is that ?

I'm thinking of having 3 monitors setup. I'd love to get 3 x 23 " but I don't think my graphic card (HD 5770) will endure that resolution ?

I don't know. I only need to run iRacing, that's it.

  • @iminimoo Thanks!

I'm using Eyefinity with a 5870 video card.

Don't hold me to this, but I think the 5770 can run 3 screens you will just have to turn some graphics settings down in iRacing. If you are a member of iRacing check out their Hardware Forum. There is a ton of information on there and many people are willing to help out.

  • apparently the top racer in iRacing had a track day recently in real life in an open wheel world touring car by Mazda. The team said he did really well but he constantly threw up in his helmet

  • @Mainiac1221 Just shows the difference between sim and real life. You can't really show if you're racer unless you're body can take it.

  • They need the Commodore now....

  • obviousl ythis is better than Race 07 . But it doesnt look like it drives massively different.

  • "Sorry, guy, but I'm impatient." I would be, too, if some pillock blocked me like that for several laps...

  • Amazing save at 1:02 !!

  • One on your right, on your right, on your right, your left, your right, your right

  • It's great to see the V8 Supercars on a great simulator like this :) It'll be wonderful if they bring in Holden as well !! I can only imagine how exciting that would be !! Holden VS Ford on iRacing !! And what's better? Anyone can join in !!

  • on your right clear on your rigght on your right still there on your right clear on your right on your left clear on your left on your right still there clear on your right...
  • 1:00 epic dodge haha. u like ahhh!

  • hi mate i was wondering for the benefit of me and anyone else who would like to have a amazing setup like yours could you do a video of your setup especially your monitor rig as i'd like to make one like yours myself.

  • I'm just getting in to the "Sim Racing" scene after about a ~10 year absence, could you enlighten me on how to connect 3 monitors to a PC like this? (I have a EVGA GTX 280 if that helps) Great setup btw!!

  • You should post more videos i enjoy watching you wheel the car. Where did you get that Frex Shift+ at?

  • @coleanderson97

    Frex(dot)com/gp

  • WOAW. That shifter click! is just awesome.

  • that looks like so much fun

  • I was gonna give you an A grade with honors... until you touched the guy, hehe.

  • That is some sick setup you have there.

  • Nice iRacing video dude, tell me your opinion I've just started 1 month ago, still rookie but I want to focus on V8 supercars as main category, what do you thing that is the best way to learn in order to perform well on the V8's series?

    Cheers.

  • nice accident avoidance skills at 0:58 !!

  • why would any1 want all those screens that prolly like a gozillion dollars

  • @xZiiZel If you have the money to burn and want the best racing experience, why not? I really just want a Fanatec racing setup

  • Awesome set up. Are those the dell 27" 1440p monitors? I have one, but can't afford to get 3! lol.

  • @pabloftw

No, they are Dell P2310h monitors, they are 23". I'd love about 27-32 inch monitors, but those get really expensive.

  • Hi!

Could you please help me to know what kind of Sequential shifter you have?

I just got G27 but I have H shift on my combo.

is the GT5 on PS3 could be used with tis shifter

    (sorry my english ,ok?)

    Cheers!

    Wagner

  • @segwaycampinas

I have a the Frex Shift+ sequential shifter. It is connected to the SLI-m from leobodnar(dot)com

GT5 can not use the sequential shifter because it is a stand along USB device.

  • i love how the people try to blow by you and go straight off course :) Great driving! I subbed.

  • i notice that when u speed up around corners u jerk the wheel when u start spinning and u slow down wat would help is that u would learn how to drift and that will help u alot but great racing though

  • @jacob1yankees Apparently you don't realise that drifting is not the fastest way to go around a corner. When you slide, you lose time. The guy is correcting oversteer trying to get out of a slide as quickly as possible, which is the way it should be.

  • @jacob1yankees ... lol, perhaps you should learn a little about real racing. Drifting is showy, and requires skill, but it doesn't win real races. Sort of like comparing figure skating to speed skating.

  • nice driving..apart from the touch lol!

what shifter are you using? it looks like a sequential, but i thought the G27 only came with a H shifter.

  • @joyce02

Hey the shifter is separate shifter from the G27. It is called the Frex Shift+

  • would a logitech driving force GT wheel be ok for iracing?,,,,,has brake and accelerator pedals,,but no clutch,,would that be a problem?

  • @marki61422

The DFGT is a really good wheel. It was my second wheel. It has so many buttons, 900 degrees, and the FFB is really good. It can't be beat for that price.

The pedals are kind of lacking, but later down the road you can buy some G27/25 pedals and one of Leo Bodnar's boxes and have some decent pedals for a good price. Or you could get some Fanatec ClubSports.

You don't need a clutch either. You can assign a button for the clutch, or just use auto-clutch

  • @marki61422

You pay for them in game. It really sucks because it is expensive, but if you buy all content. over a period of 6 months it doesn't seem that bad.

  • Hey, nice video and nice setup.. I'm curious though how much is iRacing..I know you have to pay the monthly fee but how much does each car cost like the V8 here and the Williams F1

  • @jbvol3

Hey man. When you purchase a membership, you start with MX-5, SRF, Solstice, Legends for cars and a few tracks. All of which are used as a Rookie and Advanced Rookie.

Every car after that is $12.

I think every track is $15 now.

You won't have to purchase anything else until you get promoted to D class and you choose which series you want to race. Or you can just stay a Rookie and only pay membership fee.

  • @chadsmith20 Alright, I'm hoping for a membership for christmas and I wanted to know how much I needed to save up for the cars :P How long do you spend as a rookie? Sorry to ask so much I just don't know way too much about iRacing lol. Thanks for the speedy response

  • @jbvol3

I believe you stay a Rookie for 4 weeks and then you get promoted to class D. After that you can either, race a class D series or stay and race in the Rookie or Advanced Rookie series.

Ask as many questions as you like. I'm glad to help anyone that is unsure of how iRacing works.

    Hope you can join soon.

  • @chadsmith20 Thank you so much, subbed and nice driving! I can't wait to give this game a try.

  • @chadsmith20 hope you dont mind me asking, but do you earn the money for cars and tracks in the game or do you just pay for them with real money? thanks

  • 5:31 nice save and good driving

  • can u say no life?

  • @weirdman183

    Really?

  • hey how much did the whole setup cost?

  • Your FOV is pretty much spot on. Everything lines up, A pillar, wheel, left side in right place. Good work.

  • really great setup, very good driving. Subscribed to your channel :)

One question: I'm seeing that the steering wheel in the V8 doesn't move, how can you lock it? I wish to buy the Ford but while I drive with a very low FOV and I hate seeing the steering wheel moving in the cockpit, so I wouldn't buy that car and continue with the Solstice for now, but this fixed wheel solution is taking me :)

  • @fgne Thanks

Just go into you graphics settings and uncheck steering wheel. The wheel only stay locked on cars that have the telemetry on the steering. If the telemetry is on the dash, steering wheel turns off.

  • @chadsmith20

    many many thanks!!!

  • great vid. Enjoyed the watching your battle with the grey ford in front of you.

  • on your bottom right of the center screen, is that your relative view? how did you get the license colors to show up in there? great vid. I just got the supercar and man is it a handful.

  • @toybreaker71

The different colors display the two different classes. All multi-class events are like this, it is mainly so you know who is in your class.

  • dude, sik racing.....is the game actually called "iracing" or is it the game that's called "R factor"? I really wanna get this game!

  • @BENJEDA Thanks

Yes it is iRacing. You can check it out at iracing(dot)com.

  • @chadsmith20 alright cool thanks, man, i just didn't know if you could get it in Australia or not.....guessing you can buy it online aswell?

  • @BENJEDA

Yes, it is available in most places. They even have dedicated Australian servers. But it is only available online.

  • @BENJEDA madd. thanks for that mate!

  • cars a big dirty handful.

  • Wow great job at missing that wreck on the first lap!

  • What degree of rotation do you use 300, 600, 900???

    Love watching your videos..Nice setup

  • @mpower1001 Thanks!

I use 900 for every car.

  • great driving except your use of the throttle. you need to be smoother and only accelerate when you know you wont have to lift off again, until the next corner of course :) great setup though i envy you

  • wow, amazing! I love your shifter!!! < 3

  • Your videos are awesome. Keep posting! I have watched them all already, twice!

  • @Wylei Thank you! :)

I will have one up on Saturday.

    Lotus 79 at Silverstone!

  • is this series still available? I've been thinking about purchasing the Ford Falcon, but the V8 series doesn't seem that active.

  • @JayTac1 It is still going on, but I haven't raced it since the first of the season.

The cars wonders around too much for me and gets really loose when you add power in a right hand turn.

Plus, I don't know how to build setups so I'm pretty much stuck with whatever setups are posted on the forum.

Personally, I'd go with the Mustang. But it won't really help you progress through the license latter.

  • Awesome setup and great driving. I can't wait to get myself a G27 or 911 wheel setup. Should be great. Looks like the force feedback is perfect.

  • in iracing should i get a bigger graphics card for the lag? i have a 2005 computer and it lags, the bigger the track i went to the worse it lagged....What should i do?

  • HI - what FOV is that set at? With mine, if I can see that much of the LCD in-car theres nowhere near as much of the left side window view on my side monitors... ? Only gets up to the A pillar. I use Matrox th2go, did you use adjustments not in iracing?

  • @deanviall I'm not sure on the FOV. I use the FOV calculator. I have 23" monitors that are at a 40 degree angle and I have a viewing of around 23"

  • Great video, Chad! Mind sharing your G27 Profiler Settings (FFEffects, Spring, Damper, Degrees of rotation)?

    Thanks!

  • @MCP2002 Thanks! They are a little different than the general consensus, but they work for me. Overall Effects Strength 70% Spring Effect Strength 0% Damper Effect Strength 0% Enable Centering Spring UNCHECKED Centering Spring Strength 100% Report Combined Pedals UNCHECKED (I use ClubSports so this doesn't really matter) Degrees of Rotation 900 Allow Game to Adjust Settings CHECKED In-game FFB - I have set to 20. 900 degrees when it asks you to turn 90 degrees to the left
  • @chadsmith20

Thanks, Chad. I am going to give your settings a go. I am having a tough time finding settings that work for me.

    Thanks again!

  • Comment removed

  • on your right... your right .. still there.... on your right...

  • @ZE0SPantera I know man. It is annoying. I forget to turn off the spotter on road courses. I'm getting better at it though. lol

  • @avpf1979 Thanks!

Both of the wheels are good wheels. Either would do IMO. I have heard of some problems with the GT3 RS, but I never had anything go wrong with mine.

Some people don't like the deadzone in the G27, but if you can find the right FFB settings you can minimize the deadzone.

I mainly got the G27 because you can switch the steering wheel with a real steering wheel using the chilicoke adapter. So I bought two wheels for it, one for open wheel, and the other for tin tops and oval.

  • Hey i like your vids man. Whats your username in LFS?

  • @celc100 Thanks!

I don't race LFS much anymore. I normally race under Chad Smith, but I think my login is cshmaidth.

  • Great racing rig and the racing itself Chad, well practiced, observing and clean.. the guy had that nudge coming ;) Those guys in the corvette's... ahem.. i guess theyre safetyrating dropped to zero for that race. Thanks for posting your rig and racing on TWIP m8, much abliged. Was a real joy to watch! I'm looking forward to more videos.

  • I love your videos, and your setup!

Excluding the actual driving equipment, like wheel, pedals, and shifter, how much did the setup cost you?

    Thanks!

  • @richiespeedisback Thanks!

    Well, let's see:

    3 Dell P2310H's(on sale)= $540

    Home built computer= $1000

    Steel cockpit= $400

    Corbeau FX1 Racing seat= $275

Having a mock racer car in your living room= Priceless. :)

It took me about 2 years to get all of this stuff. I just slowly added bought whatever I needed. I think I just about have everything except motion.

I will try to get a video up describing everything on my cockpit, sometime today or this week.

  • @chadsmith20

    we wait :)

  • @kanzil85 I know, I know. :)

I'm in the process of fixing somethings on my cockpit and I have a new SLI-m mount coming in this week.

I will try to get another video up by this weekend.

    Thanks!

  • Great setup you have there! It looks very immersive. Handy driving, too.

  • I dont think your impatient , sat behind him for a while

  • Nice driving Chad.Fun race with the Fords and the Vettes (crazy moves from those)

    Nasos

  • awesome driving mate, I really like your car control - that's just spot on. Out of interest, are you running SoftTH or Eyefinity? (I'm of the former camp, but eyeing the latter). Cheers!

  • @Aratahutu Thanks mate!

I'm using Eyefinity, the card is a 5870. It was practically plug and play, as long as one of your monitors is DisplayPort, or you have an Active DVI to DisplayPort adapter.

  • wow great avoidance in the grass at 1:00 :)

  • Wish Logitech could sell a sequental shifter to G27, I always use sequentalshifter but it worked bad on the G25.

  • awesome rig man, nice driving!

  • How are you using a sequential with the G27? Is it an expensive stand alone unit?

  • @griev0r Yea it is a stand alone unit.

It is the Frex Shift+ You have to buy the Universal Shift+, then connect it to one of Leo Bodnar's USB boards.

At first I tried the No Solder board from Leo, but for some reason it misses shifts sometimes.

I just ordered the SLI-M from Leo(it is in the mail) because I heard it works perfect with the Frex Shift+.

  • Nice Racing! How do you like the G27?

  • Great cockpit, very nice, grats; can I ask you the size of your monitors, please?

    Thanks. ^_^

  • @kanzil85 Thanks! There are 23" monitors - Dell P2310H.

  • why did you get rid of the GT3rs? you like the g27 better?

  • @tiawatha I think I do like the G27 a little bit better. I can correct slides faster with the G27 because it doesn't have as much resistance in the wheel.

  • really wheeling that sucker, nice job smart racing

  • Nice setup

  • @Cmackenzie09 Thanks!
