Just bought the Falcon because of this vid Chad. Little bitchy to get used to it, but very fun to drive. Hope the NTM makes it handle a little less like "driving on soap".
Yea you shouldn't have a problem. I started with a Nvidia 8600GT and then downgraded to an 9400GS. You will just have to turn the graphics down. iRacing is heavily dependent on your CPU though.
Dude great driving!!! I also like your rig. Would you mind posting your PC's complete specs as I recently had a quote done for a gaming PC (specifically for iRacing) which came out to just over $2000 CAD - and this is only with one monitor and one graphics card - TO EXPENSIVE.
My system is a little old. CPU is a Intel E8400 and Graphics card is an ATI 5870. I don't remember what everything else is, but you CPU and Video card are going to be the most expensive.
I would suggest buy the parts a few at a time to stretch out how much you are spending at once. I built my computer over 3 months.
Don't hold me to this, but I think the 5770 can run 3 screens you will just have to turn some graphics settings down in iRacing. If you are a member of iRacing check out their Hardware Forum. There is a ton of information on there and many people are willing to help out.
apparently the top racer in iRacing had a track day recently in real life in an open wheel world touring car by Mazda. The team said he did really well but he constantly threw up in his helmet
It's great to see the V8 Supercars on a great simulator like this :) It'll be wonderful if they bring in Holden as well !! I can only imagine how exciting that would be !! Holden VS Ford on iRacing !! And what's better? Anyone can join in !!

hi mate i was wondering for the benefit of me and anyone else who would like to have a amazing setup like yours could you do a video of your setup especially your monitor rig as i'd like to make one like yours myself.
I'm just getting in to the "Sim Racing" scene after about a ~10 year absence, could you enlighten me on how to connect 3 monitors to a PC like this? (I have a EVGA GTX 280 if that helps) Great setup btw!!
Nice iRacing video dude, tell me your opinion I've just started 1 month ago, still rookie but I want to focus on V8 supercars as main category, what do you thing that is the best way to learn in order to perform well on the V8's series?
i notice that when u speed up around corners u jerk the wheel when u start spinning and u slow down wat would help is that u would learn how to drift and that will help u alot but great racing though
@jacob1yankees Apparently you don't realise that drifting is not the fastest way to go around a corner. When you slide, you lose time. The guy is correcting oversteer trying to get out of a slide as quickly as possible, which is the way it should be.
@jacob1yankees ... lol, perhaps you should learn a little about real racing. Drifting is showy, and requires skill, but it doesn't win real races. Sort of like comparing figure skating to speed skating.
The DFGT is a really good wheel. It was my second wheel. It has so many buttons, 900 degrees, and the FFB is really good. It can't be beat for that price.
The pedals are kind of lacking, but later down the road you can buy some G27/25 pedals and one of Leo Bodnar's boxes and have some decent pedals for a good price. Or you could get some Fanatec ClubSports.
You don't need a clutch either. You can assign a button for the clutch, or just use auto-clutch
Hey, nice video and nice setup.. I'm curious though how much is iRacing..I know you have to pay the monthly fee but how much does each car cost like the V8 here and the Williams F1
Hey man. When you purchase a membership, you start with MX-5, SRF, Solstice, Legends for cars and a few tracks. All of which are used as a Rookie and Advanced Rookie.
Every car after that is $12.
I think every track is $15 now.
You won't have to purchase anything else until you get promoted to D class and you choose which series you want to race. Or you can just stay a Rookie and only pay membership fee.
@chadsmith20 Alright, I'm hoping for a membership for christmas and I wanted to know how much I needed to save up for the cars :P How long do you spend as a rookie? Sorry to ask so much I just don't know way too much about iRacing lol. Thanks for the speedy response
I believe you stay a Rookie for 4 weeks and then you get promoted to class D. After that you can either, race a class D series or stay and race in the Rookie or Advanced Rookie series.
Ask as many questions as you like. I'm glad to help anyone that is unsure of how iRacing works.
@chadsmith20 hope you dont mind me asking, but do you earn the money for cars and tracks in the game or do you just pay for them with real money? thanks
really great setup, very good driving. Subscribed to your channel :)
One question: I'm seeing that the steering wheel in the V8 doesn't move, how can you lock it? I wish to buy the Ford but while I drive with a very low FOV and I hate seeing the steering wheel moving in the cockpit, so I wouldn't buy that car and continue with the Solstice for now, but this fixed wheel solution is taking me :)
Just go into you graphics settings and uncheck steering wheel. The wheel only stay locked on cars that have the telemetry on the steering. If the telemetry is on the dash, steering wheel turns off.
on your bottom right of the center screen, is that your relative view? how did you get the license colors to show up in there? great vid. I just got the supercar and man is it a handful.
great driving except your use of the throttle. you need to be smoother and only accelerate when you know you wont have to lift off again, until the next corner of course :) great setup though i envy you
in iracing should i get a bigger graphics card for the lag? i have a 2005 computer and it lags, the bigger the track i went to the worse it lagged....What should i do?
HI - what FOV is that set at? With mine, if I can see that much of the LCD in-car theres nowhere near as much of the left side window view on my side monitors... ? Only gets up to the A pillar. I use Matrox th2go, did you use adjustments not in iracing?
@MCP2002 Thanks! They are a little different than the general consensus, but they work for me. Overall Effects Strength 70% Spring Effect Strength 0% Damper Effect Strength 0% Enable Centering Spring UNCHECKED Centering Spring Strength 100% Report Combined Pedals UNCHECKED (I use ClubSports so this doesn't really matter) Degrees of Rotation 900 Allow Game to Adjust Settings CHECKED In-game FFB - I have set to 20. 900 degrees when it asks you to turn 90 degrees to the left
Both of the wheels are good wheels. Either would do IMO. I have heard of some problems with the GT3 RS, but I never had anything go wrong with mine.
Some people don't like the deadzone in the G27, but if you can find the right FFB settings you can minimize the deadzone.
I mainly got the G27 because you can switch the steering wheel with a real steering wheel using the chilicoke adapter. So I bought two wheels for it, one for open wheel, and the other for tin tops and oval.
Great racing rig and the racing itself Chad, well practiced, observing and clean.. the guy had that nudge coming ;) Those guys in the corvette's... ahem.. i guess theyre safetyrating dropped to zero for that race. Thanks for posting your rig and racing on TWIP m8, much abliged. Was a real joy to watch! I'm looking forward to more videos.
