  • 3) I'd recommend any professional who has to work on various workstations and various operating systems to avoid getting used to this (un)natural default setting and turn it off as soon as possible, or else you'll end up getting used to Apple's way and not the way that everyone else has been doing it for years (exceptions for Magic Trackpad which is a whole new kind of device).

  • My thoughts: 1) It's very arrogant for Apple to take something that has been industry standard for decades now, with no one ever complaining to the contrary that scroll wheels are counterintuitive, and suddenly flip their whole freaking OS. 2) People without a technical background assume that flipping the OS for touch devices like Magic Trackpad was Apple's only option. They could have just flipped their touch devices, deeerp!

  • Thankyou!

  • Thank you brother, you made my life easier. Nice video, no bullshit, very functional.

    Great work!

    Cheers!

  • Thanks

  • thank you so much!

  • whats the deal with this invert thing.. lion mac os x is good but that new feature is whack.. thnxx 4 the video dude.. it help me a lot

  • it doesn't work for me it just says searching for Bluetooth track pad

  • lol i have that same mouse

  • Remember when Apple was a pariah, yeah all you PC users suck it!

  • I don't think its "natural" because when everyone scrolled down to go down it went up confusing the best of us.

  • Thanks a bunch. This was super helpful. The inverted scrolling made absolutely no sense to me.

  • I'm using a macbook 4 years old.. i just upgrade to OX lion.. how can i disable invert scrolling, its not the same window as u show here.. not even the option!

  • thank you new friend! disabled..

  • i downloaded a torrent of the new OSX, and the preferences dont give me the option to disable the inversion, what do i do??

  • @alb3rt525 buy the actual OS.

  • i agree with the inverted scrolling but i am using a macbook pro. works really well with the large trackpad. but i do have to complain a little. scrolling works really well but in games zooming is DAMN MESSED UP. i wish apple created a shortcut on switching the scrolling so playing games won't require me to go into system prefs every time. I tried creating a short cut myself but so far no luck

  • why is it on Lion my trackpad window does not look like anyone elses. I do not seem to have instead the columns you have of point & click, scroll and zoom and more gestures I have two columns titled tracking spee and double clic speed

  • @andrewjnp Read the description.

  • @tjasko1 Thanks for getting in touch. I did disable the Lion trackpad set up but now want to return to the Lion way of doing it and I can't see how to get back to the original Lion installation set up for a trackpad

  • i hate all gestures.

  • For all those with 3rd party mouse with scroll wheel on a desktop computer: there is no way to switch off natural scrolling. but there is a workaround! download the free tool "scroll reverser". It is actually a tool to emulate natural scrolling when you work with snow leopard. In Lion, it gives you the old fashioned scroll style back!

    Google pilotmoon scrollreverser

  • @santschopantscho Worked fine for me without using any third part software. And I'm using the Logitech LX8. :)

  • @tjasko1 What computer do you have? I have a Mac Mini Intel Core 2 Duo. Mouse Control Panel gives only option "Tracking Speed", "Double-Click Speed" and "Primay Mouse Button" plus a button "Set Up Bluetooth Mouse". The Trackpad Control Panel: "Turn Bluetooth on." No trackpad found.

  • I have a mac mini and using a 3rd party mouse with scroll wheel. no way for me to switch off natural scrolling. when i want to change the trackpad prefs, it says that i dont have a trackpad. under mouse prefs, also nothing to change. that is so stupid. probably apple want me to buy a trackpad?

  • Could you do a dock tour? You have some pretty interesting Adobe apps down there Lol.

  • I hate natural scroll! Missed the ball on this one.

  • The problem is the fact its FORCED TO USE IT upon start up you when you begin. I agree 100% with everything you said. Yes you can change it but it's not strait-forward . The MOUSE settings make no sense ' direction of finger movement' is DOWN IS DOWN, which is bad

  • Mac is FUCKING STUPID!

Yes, because I really wanna scroll down to go up, and scroll up to go down...wow are the software creators like fucking bored or something?

How do I change it back from this shitty lion ass shit fucken shit??

  • Nope, cant stand it. I gave it a chance, but nooooo. Thanks for the video

  • changing how scrolling works breaks the user model on such an epic level. How this got through QA is beyond me.

  • Wow this answered two questions. One was touring to figure out if you could disable invert and I figured out that you could a different mouse instead of that magic mouse. This video saved me a lot of money.

  • OMG i have a imac i CANT CHANGE IT!

  • @subconnect Read the important section.

  • @tjasko1 sorry i found this out right after i posted that comment

  • @subconnect It's fine. :)

  • Thanks! I looked at that menu for like 15 min looking how to change the inverted scroll, did not expect it to be called natural scrolling...

  • @MacFromTO Anytime! Yeah, I didn't expect for them to call it natural scrolling either.

  • I hate it and my trackpad control panel still looks like it did in 10.6; with no scrolling and zoom tab!

  • @wraithofwonder We had some problems stated like this in the comments. Read the important section in the video description!

  • this makes steve jobs a moron. You want to make it easy for people to switch from windows to mac? or even 10.6 to 10.7? Then dont change one of the most fundamental things about operating system navigation....

  • @decmasta And I agree, but they always say everything is "revolutionary". I guess Apple can be away with being different... "Think Different". :P

  • i don't have a track pad so i can't access this option. why the fuck does it only work for people with trackpads? the guy just showed his mouse and he was able to do it. WTF!

  • I don't have a trackpad so I can't even access the settings how can I change it now?

  • @FreaksEntertainment ok i figured out our problem. goto mouse in settings and uncheck the box that says something like "move content in the direct of the finger" or some shit and it worked.

  • @twistedkatana1 Thanks for the tip @twistedkatana1! Added it to the video description... I knew something like this would happen. :)

  • Hey whats up. I followed your steps but...when I switched the pad to natural scrolling, it reverses the mouse to be inverted. When I switch the mouse back to natural scrolling, it switches the track pad back to invert!! SO WIERD!! Seems as though I can't have both to be natural scrolling. Help me out here bro. Thanks.

  • @tH3bUdDAH Weird!? I have no clue... try a reboot or something? :)

  • @tjasko1 Let me rephrase what I said. It reverses the side scrolling on the track pad and not the invert also rebooting didn't fix the problem. =T

  • Nobody is used to inverted scrolling, so why add it? Also, what application is between Dream Weaver and Premiere on your dock? Lol and one more thing, could you explain to me what "Chromium" exactly is?

    Thanks!

  • @abnercus I agree, and it's more for mobile devices anyway. The orange icon is Adobe Illustrator. It's used for vector art. :) - Chromium in the "bleeding edge" version of Google Chrome. It has some bugs here and there, but it's the latest and greatest stuff.

  • @tjasko1 Cool, and where would I download chromium?

  • @abnercus Warning you, it's not for the faint of heart people. It's updated at least 30+ times a day. bit (dot) ly (/) r1ptuP

  • @tjasko1 Ahh, I see. Well, I'm trying to get into development like you, so...does Chromium have anything to do w/ development? Probably not I'm guessing. I've spent a lot of my time dedicated to editing, PS, AE, Screenflow, FCPX, things like that. So I just wanted to start web development like you!

  • @abnercus Ha, I've been developing for nine years... every time I say that I feel old. lol - anyways, Chromium is the development version. The only reason why I have it is I help out with the project (been a Chromium/Chrome user ever since the very early builds)...

  • @tjasko1 Lol, cool!

  • @tjasko1 lol stfu. You look like a 14yo with down syndrome. 9 years developing my ass.

  • @alanpro18 I'm 18. And you know what you are? An immature YouTuber. Blocked!

  • If I was on a laptop or a mobile device I could see where inverted scrolling would work, but as far as on a desktop I would disable it.

  • Lion doesn't deserve the title of a new OS.

  • @AnHeroDesu I don't know... maybe it does. Think it just needs time.

  • @tjasko1 meh, I downgraded... can't even use the function key anymore (affects gaming).. Expose was much better for switching applications. the only think i really liked about Lion was the scrollbars, oh that Aqua..

  • BetterTouchTool was great for the track pad. I miss 3 finger scroll to go back. Update soon.

  • @MrJovetta I agree, I actually have it installed and I just saw the update for Lion compatibility.

  • Thx man, I am used to the old way. Lion is awesome though. But its good to have the feature for those who like it.

  • @MrJovetta It is awesome, but I'm glad they added the feature to turn off their new scrolling features.

  • Cool

  • That resolution... :P

I'm already used to natural scrolling. I had a plugin in Snow Leopard that reversed the scrolling.

  • @woods72 Well, yeah, but I just don't find it nice.
