WOW , that song at around 1;20 ..I've heard it before and its awesome. I didnt know this band ..HOW ? They were excellent n wow Macca wrote their 1st hit....omg the Beatles are a music machine n da BEST =)
Gosh, I know I loved them, but never realized the impact they still have. I saw them in 72 in a small club in Long Island NY. Although 2nd billing to The New Riders, it was BF I went to see. BTW, they were great! Very sad ending. )-;
One of the most heartbreaking things I've ever seen and the ultimate cautionary tale for any up and coming band just learning the ropes. I know without doubt that Polley is serving eternity in Hell for what he'd done to these guys...a bunch of eager naive kids who just wanted to play music....God, I hope that fucking monster is suffering right now.
@milesofsmiles2 It would be something of a great debate as to what band or artist was the saddest story in music. These two (Lynyrd Skynyrd and Badfinger) are definitely up there.
@milesofsmiles2 at least lynyrd sknyrd were never broke, and they were very succesful, but that airplane accident was one of the most tragic incicdents in music history.
who did the song called why the song the story that was done for Tommy and Pete done in 1986. as the the artist speaks of band finger and Tommy and Peter.
we don't need any new beatles(eye roll), we needed B*A*D*F*I*N*G*E*R. they were so cool on their own & wasnt' Pete Ham the best! Happy Birthday T*O*M*M*Y E*V*A*N*S -- june 5 1947-- muchLOVE to you.
joey molland and is late wife kathie were just as vile as stan polley. How does joey live with himself? How does he play the Badfinger songs [Ham&Evans big hits], live off of them, collect an award he didn't deserve and recieve this award in very tacky, distastefu way, and still justify it all? Pathetic!
They would have outdone their benefactors (the Beatles) had only held onto each other in the clutch. The 70's and 80's bands did this to keep their fortunes alive and succeded.
oh this brings make memores they were brilliant ,,,thanks sunsets xxxhugs to you both m,,,,,,,,,,,shame!! i remember my first disoc dances to their songs,,,,,,,,beautiful xxxxbabs
Sad tale of natural musical greatness ruined by greed...the girl was right...we did lose innocence. Betryal once again stops greatness. Yet, their music lives on.
They weren't underrated by the people who matter. Let's face it, the masses in this world like shit (Madonna, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus for Christ's sake). I wouldn't want Badfinger included with those band of talentless freakazoids in the Hall of Shame (yuk). They are great and like all things special there just isn`t enough of them on this planet (people are too interested in listening to rap!!)
Badfinger is one of my favorite bands of all time. The amazing thing about them is that throughout it all their music was amazing...the entire way through. During the pain and torture they were still making awesome music...
@Staticnz "...This is the saddest story there ever was in rock...." Boy oh boy, you've got that right. One of my favorite memories of being a teenager in the 70's was hearing their great songs coming out of the speakers. How sad that one little, crooked son of a bitch like Polley could bring down something as powerful as these guys.
Oh and anybody who reads this, go and find Dan Matovina's bio on Badfinger. It's the only book on Badfinger. Could use an update with the deaths of Mike Gibbins and Joey Molland's wife, Kathy.
I'm 18 and I got into Badfinger at 10 years old. I own all their albums and interview Bob Jackson once. I love Badfinger. I wish more people liked them.
jethro, great to hear bout another young badfinger fan who found this great band even though they were at their peak before you were born, they just keep coming as the years pass, new music is seldom the best, nice story young man,
@robharding1957 I'm 28 and I love Badfinger (though I didn't get a chance to interview anybody from the band). I, too, am saddened that more attention is not paid.
If anyone would like to add their support in my campaign to get Swansea City Council to honour Badfinger then please join the face book group - petition swansea council to honour the band badfinger, thanks and spread the word with your friends :-)
Beg, borrow or steal the book "Without You: The Tragic Story Of Badfinger." Tells it all and much better done than this doc. Ridiculous reseach. I've re-read three times. There's a reason it sells for hundreds of dollars!
Thank you so much for posting this, been looking for it. Badfinger is tragic in the Shakespearean sense of the word. What talent, what unrealized potential. Stan Polley will get what he's got coming to him. To anyone reading this: google Badfinger to the rock and roll hall of fame, and sign the petition to get these guys inducted!
Thanks for posting. One of the best groups ever, and most unlucky, being so naive and falling into the hands of bloody bastard Stan Polley. If he is still alive, I volunteer to beat the living s.h.h.h.h.h.i.t. out of him.
