@vjmusl Yes it is a common powerlifting technique. Bands are also used sometimes instead of the chains. I tend to like the chains better because they're easier on the joints.
It changes the power curve, that is it's lighter at the bottom since some of the chains are laying on the ground, and heavier at the top. The idea here is to teach your body to generate enough speed at the beginning to easily get through the heavier part.
Brian, you are like Thor dude. Huge as hell! I'm glad you're a nice giant because you would be a scary as hell mean one! Keep it up. I can definitely see all the progress you're making. Soon as I fully recover from heart surgery scheduled next month (at 34 y.o., bummer) I want to start lifting again. It may be a long while, we'll see.
Nice work big guy. That big dark perfectly round goatee like a chocolate doughnut on your face screaming for me to come nibble it off. I need to log off and go take care of myself. Thanks OX!
@bukakinyour69 Oh me too me too! We could double up on the massage on him. I do not want to miss that action! btw camera angle is gorgeous, Crotch shots FTW! You are my OXygen!
Hey, no looking at my junk. That's not what this is about, it's about documenting my powerlifting training, and you guys giving me encouragement by appreciating my size and strength.

What is the purpose of using chains instead of weights?
