i like the grover tuner upgrade- have mixed feelings about the stripped down finish. trying to make it look like a blonde 59 ES335. I prefer the burst finish. The Casino was a slippery guitar, made Lennon sound better than he really was. He was not a great guitarist.

lennon's guitar ability was marginal. he was by no stretch a great guitarist. he was, however, the driving force of the group; and i am, by no means, trying to minimize his achievements. i thought, 'double fantasy,' was a brilliant album. i always thought he should not be living in washington square, and it turned out to be true. i admired him- and, yes, the epiphone casino is a great guitar.

@SuperQuater Thats basically what the Riviera is (if you put P-90s in it....which I think they came out with one that has three p93s). A little heavier but both guitars have great character.

The Gibson/ Epiphone website describes the Casinos as having "the same basic body dimensions and construction of the commonly recognized Gibson ES-335 [actually, the 330], the Epiphone Riviera and the Epiphone Sheraton. However, unlike the 335-style [sic] body, which features a solid-center block, the Casino is completely hollow. Additionally, older Casinos featured a 17-degree (as opposed to a 14-degree) headstock and a neck joint at the 16th (as opposed to the 17th) fret.

The result of all this research is the "Revolution" Casino, an early "alive" guitar that features a hollow, laminated maple body and top, mahogany neck, two Alnico V P-90 single-coil pickups and a no nonsense control layout featuring a three-way pickup selector and two volume and two tone pots.
