playing this (finally) now on wii. i haven't felt so strongly about a game since Final Fantasy 7. would that they were all like this one. the innovation of the brush is wonderfully executed on wii, the story is clear and engrossing, and the artwork is simply transcendent -- perhaps the best ever in any game.

also naruto was influenced by that story since the technique that killed orochi was called susanoo :)

i seldom had any control problems. unless i sat to the side of the sensor bar. try sitting/standing right in front.

as for the review, i completely agree. in fact, i think he understated the game's originality. i haven't come across a more beautiful or engaging game since then. not even games on ps3 or 360 (if you care about my opinion which u probably dont :P)

Bullshit. The controls are crap and only work 20% of the time AT BEST.

ESPECIALLY that wretched paintbrush. Mr. Orange's wretched shuffle (which they won't even let you quit out of) kept reading my commands as trying to draw suns instead of make the flowers bloom. I actually burned out my vocal chords yelling at it and threw the game down the stairs into the basement I was so pissed.

You will never convince me you played this game and liked it. Ever.

The pronunciations were awful... And I thought that the battle rhythm was easy to get used to and a nice change from just waving your hands around like an idiot. I also found the plot easy to follow. Just my critiques, but loved your review.

Haha, I too was one of the 12 people who bought this for ps2. I went to gamestop when they opened and stayed until the ups guy dropped it off. The clerk was not very happy cause I made him inventory it and sell it to me right then. And worth every minute. This is Capcom's answer to Zelda.

@Ozqawr The Ps2 version has a beautiful paper filter and it has the credits and the combat is much more easier to get good at. The Wii version runs at 480p and 16:9 widescreen, you can skip cutscenes at any playthrough but it lacks the credits and the paper filter.

Oh, and no offense but I have never died. I find the controls actually very simple and easy in combat, and I'm good with rythm. Also, I money grind (jump into demon scrolls) a lot and buy bones if I do, however, get on low health. Also, the money grinding wasn't for the bones it was because I enjoyed fighting. And I don't use the bones ever except in boss fights. And maybe a very small amount of enemies. Lol I play this game to much, I've become very good at it.

The wiiviewer is actually the reason I played Okami, because a few years ago I got a wii with Okami, I'd never heard of it but I loved Japanese mythology (And everything else :) and I wanted to play it, but the game rating said it had blood and gore in it...........And I really wasn't a fan of carnage then, so I looked up reviews on this game and I found the Wiiviewer!!

And now this is my favorite game in the entire world :D

Forget what this guy said about the combat. It's really easy. Whoever is playing in these demos is clearly terrible at the game. Also, he seems unaware that a large part of combat is using the celestial brush (not that the standard weapons are difficult to use).

If you need help with the combos in the Reflectors, like Divine Retribution, (the weapon Sakua gives you) You can wiggle your Wii remote left and right and get the combos quite fast. I got the ***Spoiler?**** Five Winds technique. It's fun :D

@TheRupees well it depend on what inappropriate is to you, it makes a lot of alcohol references (called sake in game) like the main boss Orochi, you have to get him drunk so you can defeat him but i wouldn't have picked that up when if it wasn't for my cousin, and it also has some perverted remarks about two of the characters, i recommend watching the lets play by chuggaaconroy first, then decide whether or not to buy it, I'm only 13 and i absolutely LOVED the game,

@kakashi3251 The sequel just came out for the Nintendo DS it's called Okami Den. I just beat it last night, it's one of the best DS games I've ever played. Not quite as amazing as the first but it's setting up for a sequel. You can get Okami for $15 on either system at GameStop. Having play both versions of the first I'd say in you have a PS2 get that version. It's more responsive in combat which is a huge chunk of this game.

Kaguya Is the girls name that was sent back to the moon and if you payed attention to the Story you would know that Mr. Bamboo found her Almost half dead when she was a infant in the Space Bamboo ship that was in The Sanctuary, So she returned home to the Moon tribe
