This is so sad because Dove is suppose to be about a company that sells products to help give you more confidence in life and not be afraid to show your body to the world.. yet here we have just your average, pretty looking woman who is transformed into someone who is fake!

I've seen a couple of "10's" in real life before, & truly was amazed that these two girls existed. They had what passes as the "perfect" body, smile, eyes, hair, etc. for today. Not a blemish on them anywhere - and they were both wearing bikinis. (Didn't see them at the same time.) And that's out of the hundreds of thousands of people I've seen over my 43 years alive. It's so rare. BUT, those in magazines & billboards are all 99.9% photoshopped. They don't mind because it's all for the money.

@ThatOregonGuy This is NOT how mags do it. Editing photos costs $, & they try 2 save what they can by shooting gals who look good 2 begin with. That's Y 4 example the 'celebrities' look quite similar in their photos, aside from the occasional plastic surgery =) Photoshop is used mainly 2 remove blemishes & minor things, not totally change the face 2 look like a different person.

@lilvin69 I think it would be more accurate to say that "10's" don't exist in the natural world without make-up, photoshop, professional photography, etc. It's not that they couldn't find a 10, it's that NOBODY would be a 10 as they naturally look.

Basically, that's the problem. We've set the bar so high that the way that people, women particularly, naturally look is incomplete without some sort of artificial modification. That's how the cosmetics industry makes money.

i used for my english project because my topic was media messages and when the light turned back on everybody's jaw was open they were just so suprised that that really happens to models and half the time the models don't really know that they go back and do all that editing and airbrushing

The problem with this comercial is that DOVE is not addressing why beauty is held up to girls as the ideal to aspire to rather than, academic achivement, politics, philosophy etc.. The comercial says "hey down in the dumps caus' your not "beautiful"? well guess what you are! models are airbrushed! you are just as pretty as them caus' that's whats important! now buy some DOVE soap so you can be "Naturally" beautiful.
