I have just discovered a new hobby rowing on the Concept 2 in the gym.You can do different challenges and put yourself for the world ranking for your age and weight.500m 4th,1000m 7th,4mins rowing 2nd,2000m 7th,5000m 8th and 6000m 4th in the world for 50-59 and under 75 kg.I am happy with that but can improve.You take care I hope you are in the best of health.I am Phillip Cameron

@8djenne8 She is using the machine perfectly correctly. That is proper rowing technique. With proper core strength, warm up, and good technique, she should not be injured. From a qualified rowing coach
just finshed doing 1 hour 12 mins on my rowing machine i feel like ive been in a freaking massive crash, but i was doing it too fast now i see that you can do it slow and still get the same muscle exersise i could have done atleast 2 and half hours
@9lash I erg three mornings a week. 8000m over 40 minutes at 21 spm. It's a sensible workout which helps my stamina on the water (I also scull twice a week).

Who am I? I'm a guy who doesn't approach the C2 ergometer with chanting and incense. I'm a guy who recognizes that the C2 ergometer is a machine with serious design flaws which result in bio-mechanical defects in the user's stroke. Finally, I'm a guy who can show the rowing community (including Olympic athletes) how those design flaws can be eliminated.
Well, if you stay that weight, you'd risk wearing the machine out prematurely, for sure. Depending on the design, even one or two uses could damage parts (break plastic bits, flatten round parts, etc) that would then need to be replaced . If it's your machine and you're willing to take the risk, go for it - but don't ruin someone else's machine; lose some weight first :)
When you exercise, You need to slow down your workout to maximize the amount of time your muscles are strained. She's deliberately doing it slowly to get a better workout. Obviously in a competition, this would be much faster.
Going slow does not make it any better as a workout.
She isn't actually going that slow. At about 17 spm (or at least, that's what it looks like) she's doing an average stroke rate for women's crew for a long distance race (5-10k).
@currannaaach She's doing 19 spm to be exact. That's just fine for low intensity. But it's NOT average for women's crew on long distance. That should be more like 30 spm.
Some of the people below me are so immature. Such a shame the future of the world is based off of majority, because it seems this world has more morons than naught. Good video. Excellent explanation of an underused effective exercise.

@9lash going faster doesn't mean you're working harder. The sign of a good rower is that they can keep the same split at a lower rate.
