I like this track a lot. It strikes me that there is a real Can influence on this. The bass part sounds like something Czukay would play circa "Monster Movie", and the percussive thing the keyboards do in the verse parts is reminiscent of "Spoon".
Never seen this before. Was lent Sons And Fascination in the school playground in 1981, and fell in love that night. Saw them twice at the Lyceum (Dec 82/83) - cannot understand to this day where it all went wrong. This performance is remarkable - Kerr is at the most assured ever - no sign if self consciousness. Compare this to the beret and hose shit that was only a 5 years away.
Before they "sold out" to main-stream commercialism - excellent stuff, thanks for sharing. Have all the songs on CD, but seeing these early performances is always a pleasure.
Like a idiosyncratic cross between Kraftwerk 'n Joy Division. Only better. A unique sonic masterpiece from the start of the 80's. Thanks for putting this up Fery. Thumbs up!
@faddy24 Ace Stuff!!! Of course not knocking JK but I can't help thinking of the Monty Python ministry of silly walks at some of his moves but, as I say, all part of the magic, he danced as he felt, much like Ian Curtis. Glad I was an 80's brat!
Classic stuff. The early days were the best.

A slick, bristling cacophany.

One of the best track from 'Empires & Dance'. My favourites is 'Today I Died Again' & 'Room'.

Thanks for the comment faddy:). The sound and picture quality is not very good, I am afraid, but anyway is a great document of early Simple Minds.
