  • he looks like a fuckin drag queen...

  • @cornholio119 Yngwie is King

  • Just seen him Saturday night. Simplebob said it best, you either love him, or hate him. But I think you have to respect his playing. He does things I personally could never do, along with 99 percent of the planet.

  • Great player...poor teacher.

  • ynGOD!

  • What. a. Wankstain.

  • he definitely invokes a strong emotion in me,just cant decide if its love or hate :p

  • I think Yngwie is a brilliant guitarist, but his music bores the hell out of Me.

  • @nickerz65 it bores u cuz ur not use to listening to neo-classical guitar playing i was the same way but know its grown on me and i love it its so beautiful

  • Malmsteen fathered Jack Sparrow

  • thought this was a lesson ?

  • @iluvmyaxe it is.. but its like most yngwie malmsteen lessons..so fast you cant get anything out of it lol

  • i thought that puffy thing on his shirt was another hand for second

  • just cause he plays it fast doesnt mean theres no feeling...you must be deaf if you can't hearhim bending like crazy.

  • one thing i know, that his musically educated!

  • Yngwie reminds us in the new way the important part of European civilisation ,caertain type of elegance ,beauty and dramaturgy in our music ,something that is much more worthy of sustaining than this trashy pieces of shit nowadays.

  • @MaxwellsAttourney if hes a clown, i want to go to the circus everyday

  • The good way

    The bad way

    THE YNGWAY!

  • It's like the bad way but faster.

  • @MaxwellsAttourney Setzer's breath smells like crap. Seriously.

  • this guy does not cause any surprise to the listener playing like this. There has always to be the surprise element, and phrasing, exploring different melodic gaps on the neck, mixing them interchangibly]

  • @MaxwellsAttourney stop bitching and go listen to Setzer then!

  • @6EELZE6U6666 Right on!

  • what's the name of the intro song?

  • @GuitarsOfArp Trilogy Suite.

  • @Glutonid big thanks!!!

  • Don't get me wrong, they are all excellent players but Malmsteen has that certain rawness that just beats its way to the front of the stage.

  • hes using the harmonic minor scale

  • Malmsteen is absolutely excellent player. He put Vai and Satch to shame on the G3 tour.

  • @Musicartsandcoffee hahaha lies. Satch puts anyone to shame on the G3 tour. I watched the Satch-Johnson-Petrucci tour and it was funny how Eric Johnson was cool and did his open voice thing and then Petrucci played a million notes per second and the crowd fell asleep, and then Satch kinda just knows what hes doing haha. hard to describe. Yngwie is good, but he plays a blues I can't stand it because he just fails at phrasing and keeping the listener interested.

  • what scale (s) is he using in the fist solo (s)

  • @666satan666himself i think harmonic minor. he tends to play with that ALLOT, also allot of phrygian and dorian stuff. i find him to ususally be playing in those modes

  • if he had no feeling then her wudnt wear those pants lmao

  • It's Very Fantastic!!!!!!!

  • does anyone knows that the guitar solo is an improvisation or its from a song or a symphony??

  • thats fast but i can do it slow for ya hahahaha

  • its so funny to watch him play lol glam goes shred

  • 4:45 the blues no one can make a strat sound like this period!

  • shredding don't mean shit people, Yngwie can hold a candle to Leslie West when it comes to the blues, PERIOD!

  • surely that moron hasnt heard brothers, blues, angels of love, you dont remember, queen in love, just speak cuz you cant play any better lol grow some balls boy

  • no feeling but its ok.

  • @TheJosh1111111111111 you sound uneducated

  • @icec4p3d you sound like a republican

  • @TheJosh1111111111111 you sound like you have no fucking clue what your talking about and what feeling is when it comes to music. Stop watching this and stop posting shit to make you feel better. Stupid Fuck.

  • @icec4p3d "oh man you got me there" and without even knowing my musical background, and you called me a stupid fuck. you get extra points for that one. haha if you dont like my "opinions" then just leave it at that. I think its past your bed time kid.

  • @TheJosh1111111111111 very contradicting comment there "past my bed time kid" wow you don't even know who your talking to. Have a more open mind about "opinions" or you'll sound retarded towards other musicians. Like saying Malmsteen or other virtuosos has no feeling is like saying you have one idea of feeling and that you just don't know what your talking about.

  • i like to think of this being the time when yngwie was really good. as he got older i think he got sloppier.

  • Is that supposed to be bluesy?

  • PLAY LOUD

  • motherfucker ygnwie jajaja you play so fuckin fast :D

  • Yngwie Malmsteen.. A legend \nn/

  • actually, i think this song has A LOT of feeling. it sounds enraged, finding vengeance

  • FUCK YNGWIE he's TOO GOOD

  • shows you how much he shouldent get slaughterd for just playing phrygian he can play anything!!!

  • It's so cool hearing him do that Mixolydian bit

  • you want feeling listen to Black Star and cry for your lost puppy, this song is about shredding in your face suck my cock type

  • Jealousy always Arises when it comes to Yngwie. It gets to me how people can Tear down Yngwie when all he has ever done is Play Music. He hasn't done anything to any of you. There are alot of Angry and Hateful People in the World.

  • @perpetual61

agree with you, perpetual61. Not only that, I'm sure that 90% of those who say "Malmsteen is always doing the same scale in every album", "Malmsteen is boring" and stuff like that, they aren't even musicians. One must follow one's musical taste, but it's impossible to say Malmsteen is crap. And I've seen os many people like those, and I laugh at them on daily basis.

    Ad Maiora.

  • fantastic

  • anyone who says he has no feeling is a hopeless loser.. seriously, if you knew what MADE feeling, you would know that he's got all the elements... vibrato, phrasing, articulation....

  • any1 who talks about feeling bullshit is not a good guitar player

  • guys...feeling isn't jumping around and crying and making funny faces when you play guitar...feeling is something inside of us that makes us enjoy what we do or what others do and everyone expresses it in their own way. Yngwie puts A LOT of soul in his music and if you can't feel the vibes of his extrodinary playing, then I am sorry for your ears.

  • I think he's bad cause he remembered what he just improvised and played them back. Just think how cool these licks would sound on S.R.V.z Strat.

  • You can communicate soul through a fast lick, just as you can through a slow one. Anyway, there's really no way you can argue taste. There will always be people who come to these videos, just to express their disdain for Yngwie in some way. It's not really a bad thing; it's why this comment section exists.

  • Most players that think Yngwie sucks, are slow and green with envy.

  • thanks markovcd for the vid

  • i feel 0% soul when listening to his stuff. it's all just fast crap and sweeping. it's cool that he can play that but i just feel that his music doesn't have a point. void of feeling. does anyone else agree?

  • @Teddius1138 yes i agree to a point.. this does"nt have soul, but that is the art of metal/rock guitar.. it is very differant from blues and jazz and ect. but if u ask me i think yngwie is very awsome and he express's himself thru his type of music..

  • @Teddius1138 nobody agrees

  • How can a human being play that fast?!

  • i like yngwie, hes great to watch however hes not very good, creative or talented its the cocaine and alot of it. honestly its a waste of talent, such a shame

  • Hes gotta be on E or something... Its like hes fucking that guitar.

  • i see some gary moore influences here, or rip off licks

  • Yngwie J Malmsteen was such a great guitarist, a true legend and God. He has never been so good since the 80s. Nowadays he is sadly not very good anymore.

  • @hungro2 its because you dont need a floyed rose to use a whammy bar. his wammy bar is great though. its a synchronized tremelo. which means the wammy wont knock it out of tune. i have his guitar thats why i know. 2400$.

  • He uses his "whammy bar" a lot for not having a Floyd Rose. Anybody know why?

  • @hungro2 because you dont need a floyd if you set up your trem right

  • @hungro2 He's using a two-point synchronised trem as opposed to a six-point vintage-style one. And he's got a brass nut for better tuning stability.

  • What song is it on 0:26?

  • @megaluisdeth trilogy suite op 5

  • Which one is the color of that guitar?

  • referring on the genre, blues, classical or anything else ;-)

  • why don't you guys shut up and enjoy the music, however it's called.

  • @mnmmmmmm Trilogy Suite Op 5, its called.

  • No your both wrong. he uses classical phrasing, he does play blues occasionally but mostly classical, listen to Paganini which is his main influence. yngwie fused rock and classical in his music

  • @yngwierhoads1989 wow dude ur retarted trying to say yngwie doesnt play blues licks thats def blues mixed with metal he fuses them together thats whats makes him great alot of metal guitar players use blues licks in their solos so next time know what ur talking about before u open ur mouth

  • if the "blues solo" at 4:50 isnt blues, then I dont know what is. Just cause its yngwie doesnt mean it metal. If you watch the video it says he was heavily influenced by the blues of the 60's and 70's. Think before you blab.

  • classic blues go to listen bb king we love yngwie and he playing style kiss your asses

  • hes playing blues licks really fast with lots of extra notes on each lick. i think he could use a little less distortion maybe...

  • malmsteen is the best guitar player out there

  • Ok, I've listened to this like 3 times. Can someone please point out exactly where it is that Yngwie is playing the blues?

  • Do you learn guitar my friend?

  • @Stogimiester If not go and listen the song Blue of Malmsteen himself. The style is not blues but the scale (notes) is called blues scale.

  • You are correct when you say the style is not blues and that's what I am referring to.

Someone simple jerking off as fast as they can on the blues scale doesn't make it "the blues"

With a lot of Yngwie's music he actually "says something" with his solos, this says nothing to me.

  • theres no blues licks mate these pricks dont know what there talkin about. hes using melodic and harmonic licks which are metal.

  • Dude, that is a lot of Pentatonic stuff in there.

  • I would call Yngwie's music 'uninspired'. He should also stay away from the blues. And if you know Yngwie you know that he IS, in fact, more about playing fast and looking cool. That's not to say Yngwie isn't good. He should be judged as a shredder and not an emotive guitarist. And asherasator, celluloid picks are shit.

  • wrong...

  • There are a lot of great blues players out there, but Yngwie is the only guitarist who makes the blues fun!

  • isnt being passionate about music still feeling?

when he plays he sends out this passionate energy and great vibes.

  • @MrWhatthefunk69 very very well said buddy:)

  • if he had no feeling he wouldnt be up to that level of player

  • His tone here is so good, Yngwie in the old days is untouchable. When he used celluloid picks between Steeler & Trilogy his sound was the best.

  • yngwie has wonderfull skill. he truley is one of the greats. it takes alot to do what he does. when i play neo-classical on my guitar i go to him and learn it.

  • no feeling?! omfg listen to those licks when he's playing slow

  • if you guys dont think yngwie has "feeling" when he plays then get the fuck out, and let the necoclassical shredders listen

  • Also im supporting the ones saying just because u are using an pentatonic scales you are not playing blues. you can play some pretty cool asian tunes on pentatonic aswell.

  • Yngwie is technically proficient and can whiz around the fretboard with great speed and dexterity, but his playing lacks feeling and emotion because he's too concerned with playing fast and looking cool.

  • i like malmsteen and all, im not hating with the following statement: yea he plays the blues, he fukin shreds them.. but i dont know about you, i just cant feel anything when he plays it... when i listen to jimi's red house, i want to go punch my ex.

  • @justchill919 "When I listen to Jimi's Red House, I want to go punch my ex." Funny shit man lol

  • Blues tries to imitate human singing back in the 30's when slaves and most people of colour sang their blues. This is just foolling around with some "bluessy scales". Nothing to do with blues.

    Sory for my English.

  • 1st you learn.

    2nd you critic.

    That's the natural order.

Maybe your blues knowledge is so tiny that you can't see it here.

that IS blues and he's not using only 1 scale.

if that's not blues SRV is the king of POP

  • just because he uses a "blues scale" doesnt mean he plays blues. All styles have the notes of the "blues scale" in them, because that particular shape is in all minor scales such as natural minor, phrygian, dorian, etc.

  • that's no blues dude, using penthatonics does not mean playing Blues.

  • dude get laid

  • Hahaha no it isn't..

He said " I never played Hendrix Riffs/Blues"..

    So, it isn't blues.. hahahaha!

  • at 4:59?? Is that phrygian or pentatonic?

  • It sounds like pentatonic, but the structure of it leans towards phrygian more.

  • sounds like normal Blues scale = pentatonic + flat fifth.....phrygian usually has a more "ethnic" flavor to it such as arabic music or flamenco...but i can be wrong....pentatonic minor blues to my ears and my eyes( box one and five mostly)

  • it's not hard to distinguish a pentatonic scale from a phrygian scale.....just saying

  • I was answering MikaelLV...just saying

  • do you mean "exotic"

  • blues

  • Where can i get the tabs?

  • Ultimate-guitardotcom

    Search for 'Trilogy Suite op5"

  • Thanks : )

  • i dont really know him i dont have any yngwie albums but he should play more blues shit like this that was cool

  • thats not blues!! thats neoclassical

  • the video is about the blues lol

  • Comment removed

  • where is the lesson?? ha ha

  • i used to have this dvd but some bastard stole it from me

  • jajajajaja

    I have two dvds

    it's so cool..

  • where do u ge tthe Dvds???

  • it was yngwie!

  • in the live in lennengrad dvd yngwie goes crazy after the final song and destroys not only his guitar but his amplifier and pushes it off the stage and into the croud.yeah!

  • hahhaha I like the guy talking about yngwie, it looks more like a national geographic special than a guitar instructional video!

  • hahaha absolutely agree with u:D:D:D

  • I think John Petrucci would win in a fight, the guy is ripped! But I think Yngwie wins the guitar duel.

  • You best be trollin', boy.

  • Comment removed

  • Gotta be one of the top5 of all time

  • i want to marry yngwie

  • Comment removed

  • thoose licks are fucking awsome is it hell blues thougth

  • the son of Blackmore

  • go Yngwie, always kickin ass, great stuff

  • Go Yngwie, always wanking.

  • 3:46 wtf hes stop to play

  • the first one is the fuckin trilogy suite no.5 gr888888888888888888888888888

  • what were all the songs used in this video? Especially the first one!

  • the guy who talks on this video said that yngwie was influenced by hendrix which is a lie because yngwie qoutes in pretty much all his videos that hendrix did nothing except get him playing the guitar which is big though

  • Yes... This discussion as most discussions on youtube has become ridiculous...

  • want to see him play a majorscale or arpeggio

  • Yngwie only knows how to play minor scales

  • no!!!!

yngwie knows a lot more and a lot lot lot lot more than you!

he also can play sweeps and arpegios

  • but almost everything in minor

  • yes thats right

but i think its just because he love the classical minor sound ;)

  • by that I ment a major arpeggio as well as a major scale.

he can sweep but the only thing he does with it is minor arpgeios and diminished..

  • OH SHIT listen at 3:14 i hear some major BUST A NUT IN THAT FACE

  • Well. The fact that you only play in minor modes isn't the same thing as if you don't know how to play in major... Yngwie definitely knows that...

  • yes....basicly you play minor and major the same time, it´s just an other chordprogression behind it

  • you want to see him arpegios?

than search for " yngwie malmsteen arpegios from hell"

    yngwie can play all

  • yes but the only thign he sweeps are minor arpeggios and diminished things dude...you should listen.

It´s always the same, there are kick ass songs though
