Paul Washer deserves the utmost respect for his heart and for preaching Christ. When he attaches a performance expectation on salvation, he in effect nullifies the grace of God. Anyone who has seen and known how God works knows that conversions and changes in behavior happen in many forms and in its own time according to the work of God. He nullifies the very thing that changes a person out of fear of inauthentic conversions. What a travesty!

No, you're mistaken. Like Brucev7 seems to be trying to say, he's not teaching that works will save you. He's teaching that a change in attitudes and behavior is simply an outward manifestation on the change that God does within you which the bible teaches. Please double-check before making accusations. I know many people who need the truth and the lord may long for a man made by him who preaches these things but understand this, that the CHRIST he speaks so passionatly of, is more real than the words he gives or the sight or sound you have to identify paul washer. While you are alone, call on Jesus Christ...he will deliver you and the emptiness you feel for your pursuit of the truth.

Repentance means to "change your mind" believing the gospel is an act of repentance because you cannot believe the gospel without changing your mind. Repentance is not feeling guilty or having some strong emotion of shame, it is an act of faith. Anyone who tries to get you to trust your emotions or move you to feel guilty as evidence to being saved is preaching an accursed gospel. Faith is all about believing not emotions and feelings anyone can manipulate your emotions that cannot be trusted.

Regarding the raised question of repentance not being necessarry for salvation, I quote as one simple refutation:

Matthew 7:21

Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

If you're repenting you're already believing, if you're already believing you're already justified, if you're already justified you're already regenerated/bourn-again.

Do a word study on "the kindness of God", look at Rom 2:4 & Titus 3:4-7

but I never seen the phrase "repent of your sins" in the bible. yet, it is highly popular in evangelicalism.

Paul Washer bases salvation on the change in one's lifestyle. instead of the free gracious gift of God that is accepted only through faith. If you did nothing to recieve salvation, then you can do nothing to lose that salvation.

Well, it sounds as though you're very confused on this issue but thankfully your confusion errors on the side of safety, that you're not trusting in anything in & of yourself to save u but in Christ alone, good. The issue here is how do u know u have true saving faith? How do u deal with James chap.2? Paul Washer bases salvation ONLY on God's grace, by faith alone in Christ and His work. BTW, r u saying the bible does not teach repentance of sins?(Mark1:15,Matt9:13,Luke3:­3,2 Cor7:9,Heb6:1,etc.)

The bible does in fact teach repentance of all sins and does use that basic phasing in various forms. How can you be a born-again regenerate person trusting in the gospel and not repent of you sins if you understand what it was that Christ was doing up on that cross?

The resurrecting power of a changed regenerated believing heart repents and turns from sin because it understands what Jesus has done for them. U WILL know them by their fruits(Luke6:43-45), they hear His voice and WILL follow Him (John10:27) God has called all men everywhere to repent (Acts17:30)

You are saved ONLY by His grace found in Christ but the proof that you know Him and have true faith {or better yet, that He knows you (Gal 4:9)} is that He abides in you and is always working in your life. True salvation (found only in Christ) brings u into a relationship w/ God that brings about change in your life (slow hard change for some, fast change for others) that conforms u to His Son according to His word.

You honor, conform and obey with joy not because that merits anything before Him but b/c you belong to Him and He has made you a new creater in Christ Jesus. What I mean is Him transforming the very core of my being, and changing me into a new creature. You see I, a man, even though I'm 15, have a wicked heart that needs to be cleansed, and the only way it can be cleansed is by the power of God. I'm not christian, but I want to be. I know that I try to live my life based on what people have said, but I don't want to do that anymore, I want to live a life that has Christ in the very center. I want to let go of sin. I was there, where Mr. Washer is preaching is right outside the doors of the church proper, inside it was the biggest church I ever saw, I was told by a member of Woodstock Baptist that the floor of the church seats 8000! and the balcony seats another 2000! the choir is 400! GOD IS AWESOME!!!
