Have you been to any of these protests? I have news for you: not everybody in attendance is a republican. A very sizable percentage is independents and disenfranchised democrats who also don't approve of the government's uncontrolled spending.
#1-I am glad we live in a society where people have the right to express themselves.on both sides!
#2- I agree with "apollodx182", when we, yes I am a liberal, were trying to stop a senseless war (Iraq not Afghanistan!), it was this Tea Partiers that called us crazyunpatriotic..hippies... We were actually trying to stop destruction and killing of innocent people. Tea Partiers are trying to stop universal Healthcare!! Go figure!
You are right, I support tea partys to. I think it took a while for America to waken up to the fiasco that was Iraq. A lot of tea party people also do not want these wars that Obama seems to continue. I think real liberals and real conservatives really need to get together and accept some differences until we get this govt cleaned up. The special interest and abuse is horrible. Democratic Republican Party anyone?
Everybody knows that the healthcare system is broken, that's not in dispute. But since when does anybody think the Government will do a GOOD job of running ANYTHING? When we put 30+ million new people into the system and pay the doctors less, how will our health care not be rationed? How will we continue to pay for it, when the current Medicare/Medicaid are close to bankrupt? If we can't deal with seniors, how are we going to deal with EVERYBODY? Gov't care isn't the answer.
conleec: Please don't be like the guy running in Times Square screaming "The end is coming...the end is coming" lol
No, it will not be a perfect system and probably not even 90%, but I'll take it and try to improve upon it.
Kennedy said it best: "We will end the disgrace of America as the only major industrialized nation in the world that doesn't guarantee health care for all of its people."
I don't know why the comments don't properly thread, like any decent 'comments' page should. My individual posts were each made in rebuttal to a specific topic. Oh well...
"No, it will not be a perfect system and probably not even 90%, but I'll take it and try to improve upon it"
Of the following government run programs/departments/ventures, please tell me which of these runs the best, and will be a shining beacon as to how our nationalized medical care will run, and why you're going to prefer it to private medical care:
USPS, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, AMTRAK, Veterans Admin, the FAA, the NTSB, the DMV, the unemployment insurance dept., & the IRS.
If we discussed this for another 3 hours, I am sure that at the end you could/would agree that your problem is not the actual health care for the masses , but what it represents or at least what Glenn Beck told you what it representssocialism! Why this word or ideology worries you, you have to figure out for yourself.
"Why this word or ideology worries you, you have to figure out for yourself"
That's exactly what it represents, & not because Glenn Beck told me. And yes, I do know why it worries me. Capitalism & free markets = freedom. Socialism = oppression.
"The goal of Socialism is Communism"
-Vladimir Lenin
Or have you never heard that before?
"was elected by Supreme Court"
Leftist Talking Point Against Bush #3: He was elected by the SCOTUS, outside our democratic system. Gee, is that all you've got?
I just returned from Europe and spoke to the people there-they long for what we have in America. They hate the socialism in Europe. Wake up. It doesn't work and that is why Europe is struggling.
Health care reform, the way it is written, will destroy 25% of Medicare Advantage for Seniors - the very people who made this built this country with blood, sweat and tears. Not acceptable
"Everybody knows that the healthcare system is broken, that's not in dispute"
Please tell me what is broken, and no I'm not being a jerk about it here, I really want to know.
The only thing I know of that's a problem is the cost. We have the best medical care in the world. The only problem is it cost too much. The same prescription drugs sold here cost less in Canada. So there is something that needs attention.
I don't think you're being a jerk, near as I can tell we're on the same side. My comments regarding the healthcare system being 'broken' relate primarily to the escalating cost and the fact that folks, of which I am one, with pre-existing conditions cannot get private healthcare. If the Gov't wants to reform the system, it could start with these two issues... Something along the lines of an insured's bill of rights?
They were right. Your problem wasn't with invading Iraq (go look up the 1991 cease fire agreement), it was with George W. Bush. Your white-hot searing hatred for him was because he won the 2000 election, which you never got over. Your aim was to derail anything he proposed even if it meant selling the USA out to our enemies.
"stop universal Healthcare!"
You mean Socialism. Fighting Socialism is patriotic. Fighting the USA to help our enemies is not.
Thank God Gore didn't win. By the way, Clinton had Osama Bin Laden in his sights many, many times and could have killed him - killed him. However, concerned for what he would have "looked" like, he chose to let him go. Then the clever American Press announced that we were tracking him by his cell phone and he turned it off. Thank you Democrats and Liberal Press. Sept. 11 was carried out well after Pres. Clinton allowed Bin Laden to go free.....
...However, that was not my problem when I was screaming No More War. I knew they were lying to us. I knew when Powel held that little jar of white powder; it was just a selling act (He regretted that later, but a little too late!). I knew it was not about WMDs. However, I knew perfectly that we are about to go kill innocent people, destroy peoples homes and infrastructure, and put our solders in harms way just for one thing OIL.
@IntellectualAddict Spoken like a true non intellectual right winger, even your name is fraudulent. You sound like a mindless dittohead. Hey paranoid who is selling out the US to its enemies?
Intellectual is the adjective, addict is the noun. I'm an addict, not an intellectual. Just a quick lesson in ENGLISH for you.
"You sound like"
Your lack of a frontal lobe isn't my error, or problem.
"who is selling out"
Obama and the Democrats. Do you require a list? Go look up "insulting our allies" and "bowing to our enemies." Or how about "shutting down businesses here" and "giving stimulus money to foreign entities." That's a good start for you.
You sound a stupid paranoid right wing teabagger like because you are one. Obama is bowing to our enemies? Who are our enemies? What kind of paranoid nonsense are you referring too? Also, if small government & less spending is so important to you, then you should have been against the War in Iraq, you hypocritical little con.
FYI, Obama BOWED to the Saudi Prince (not our enemy per se, but the monarch of an Islamic state, which is bad enough), and he BOWED to the leader of China. You really should pay attention to the news.
And sometimes war is necessary, so much for your clever Talking Point.
To constantly go back & forth with you would be stupid. Slightly less stupid than you. And so, sayonara.
@IntellectualAddict Heck, Bush was best buds with the Saudi Royals, and let all the Bin Ladens fly home after 9/11 when everyone else was grounded, But go make a big deal about a bow like a little dittohead
Wow, you're incredible. Saudi Arabia is our ally, despite being an Islamic State and monarchy. Should he have punched the King in the gut upon meeting him? And were bin Laden's family members guilty of participating in 9/11? What would you have us do, arrest them and hold them hostage? Great idea!! But wait, aren't you one of those typical Lib-tards who believe Bush & Cheney did 9/11 and not bin Laden & al Qaeda? What's it going to be this week?
No you're incredible. Your gall is only exceeded by your stupidity & hypocrisy. I never said that Bush should've have done a thing, But your were running your rightwing pig snout about Obama was a traitor for bowing to the King, so I reminded you that your hero Bush is pals with the same King. The war in Iraq was unnecessary, but since you are a stupid rw pig, you justify it in spite of your teabag rants about gov power & spending. Finally, I am not a truther, but you're a mindless teabagger
Where were these conservative rallies when Bush forced two unnecessary wars in Iraq and Afghanistan down our throats, without listening to the peoples wishes; spending American tax payer money to fund it? Why is it that 7 years later, Obamacare is the straw that broke the camels back.
Though I disagree, I support the "Tea Parties" going on around the nation. My problem is with the hypocrisy I see in anger at Obama, yet not at Bush.
The difference is that Obama and his crew are going to take over the medical care of every man, woman, and child in America. Not just now, but for all of history. Bush's wars were noble in intent -- taking the fight to the enemy in Afghanistan. Perhaps Iraq was a mistake; history will tell the tale on that one. However, Obama has spent as much in his first 100 days as Bush did in 7 years of war. That's why people are mad.
The People were actually behind what he did. Even Congress was. Our invasion of Iraq was enforcement of the 1991 cease fire agreement. Would you have us not follow thru on such a threat?
"Obamacare is the straw that broke the camels back"
Obamacare is Socialism. GWB didn't propose the US Govt take over private industry AND nationalize our medical sector AND tax us to death. This is as much a revolt against Socialism as it is against taxing & spending.
Seems like the same old mouthpieces from PJ TV and the rest of con circuit, like the fat Hollywood loser Evan Sayet,
